  1. kids pretty good!

Nothing against class A ball but... the tough competition in AAA shows the AAA SS are better. Yes Maassen is a great athelete but Idk about the best Mid-State SS? But he is the best in class A and a great kid.

  2. baseonballs27..... according to my Siegel connection is none other than BB and the view is pretty good from where you get to watch practice........... DaBlaze.............By the way Blackman had an intra-squad on Sat. and things are gonna be just fine............lookout 7AAA

Wish i had a clue who and what you were talking about blaze?....

  3. Dodd was released yesterday and was at practice today...went yard his first day back!

We won our scrimmage 15-5 or 15-6...can't remember because the day got real long. Pitching will be fine; defense will be fine; the hitting will be fine. A young team with a lot of talent...should make some noise, getting better and better as the season progresses.

Not much else to say...just quietly working, enjoying our top-notch facility and continuing the tradition that is Oakland baseball!

Who started the game as catcher for the Pats?

  4. sims started cuz shaffer's arm was sore. and the outfield will sort itself out. don't worry

I watched Taylor in the scrimmage and in practice... he deserves center. I think he's proven himself.

  5. I know y'all have a big time playmaker/bat in right field in Shaffer so I would assume right field is not an option for Fullerton. So where do you put him? You got Moore in left and Duval or Taylor in center. If Fullerton is that fast and can hit he'll play somewhere, but your right, it's a good problem for a coach to have.

    Is shaffer healthy?

  6. really not a bad outing saturday against bearden, heres what i thought. senior pitching doesnt exist, juniors and sophmores looked decent and will have to carry the load. glad to see the error making machine off of ss from last yr, hitting not up to speed yet' but wasnt to displeased with it. sophmore catcher looked real good behind the plate so that will be and upgrade from ly. overall we dont have a lot of powerhitters yet but do see a few who could come into their own and help ty.

    Did cookvile score many runs?

  7. siegel just talks more...they have several players that post and i dont know of any RIVERDALE players that post say they are not going to toot their own horn and i try and stay somewhat objective lol I think we are going to be really good and we will challenge for the top spot we have 2 very good pitchers and 7 returning hitters in the line up

This is coming from the guy that says his son is the best SS in the district .... now who's not being objective? yes Siegel probably has a few players who are on the boards but they aren't the only ones not being objective.

  8. We played with Maddux, Richmond, Sims, and Talmadge last Summer and they can definitely play. I haven't seen Pearson since the Fall of 2007 but he's a good player and I heard he had a good Summer. Coach Reavis has to be pleased having this many guys that can play at a high level and it will be interesting to see how everything shakes out.

I've played fall ball with a few of these guys and Pearson is one i can see playing this year early and often for Siegel. He's solid defensively and can hit for a little pop. the stars line-up is really deep but a i like there veteran line-up right now with maybe a few newcomers.

  9. they will contend for the district...they can hit and they have a pitcher or 2 but with Bowers and sisco you better not miss your spot or call the wrong pitch they will make you pay...I think they will have a few kids that will be more of a contributor than they last year like Vandolen(sp) he played but i think he might be a little more dangerous this year and if Mitchel got stronger he also can be a real threat last year it was sisco pitching and then a big drop off i dont think that will be the case at all this year I think it will be between Blackman Siegel and RIVERDALE for district

well said riverdaleman.... if you can limit bowers and sisco to a hit a piece each game you have a chance to win . after those two they have some average hitters but nobody that is a threat to go deep any given pitch. they also are going to have to rely on a good bullpen because if a remember correctly when sisco gets hit a little bit he lose's a little control. so the blaze bullpen will play a big factor.

  10. just got word that neil robinson will be ready to go on opening day my son said that he is on a limited pitch count for a while until tournament time he will be starting probably but thats good news for the stars but there lineup is good this year there is no let down anywhere in the lineup

    GO STARS!!

Who did you hear that from again?

  11. I respectfully disagree with this statement about always coming on late LAST year we did but we played so many sophmores and they got better as the season went on...the year before we just didnt gel and really faded away late in the year and the previous years we pretty much ran the district with only a loss here or a loss there...in fact if memory serves me correctly we went undefeated in district 3 years ago...(my oldest sons JR year)

i understand where your coming from but i just dont see how your going to score runs ... you cant ride 1 or 2 bats all season and from what i recall thats all riverdale has.

  12. Lots of knowledge about Rutherford county players my friend. I grew up on your side of town but now I am on our side of town.

Thats odd im not from either ... just wondering how you know so much?
