It's my observation, and I hate to be negative, that if Harriman did not fumble the first three offensive series they might have scored all 3 times instead of 1. The fumbles were the only thing that stopped their drives. The only time I saw our defense stop their first team was at the very end of the night. On the other hand, our offense in the early going looked good. The passing game clicked better than the running game. That's not to say that we did bad running the ball though. It is still apparent to me that our defense needs the brunt of the work.

Chiefs participated in passing league tourney at Maryville College this past weekend. I didn't get to go watch but SO said they went 3-2. I know it is only passing league, but I think that is a promising showing with as little time as they have had to work together. Jerry Denham

Just because we compliment Gregory doesn't mean that it was an insult to Satterfield. My kids do that to me. I'll compliment another kid and they will get defensive.

Thinking back I think your right. The defense the previous two years was not that bad, but it's hard to gage when they are only defending 35-50 yards of field instead of 75-80.

I agree with you on Gregory. I got to watch a few practices last year and was impressed with the offense that he had. I feel we lost an incredible football mind when he left. I hope that you don't feel my last post was an effort to bash the previous coaching staff. I feel that our defense has been a weakness, for whatever the reason, for the last 2-3 years and no matter what offense we run, if our defense doesn't improve, we will still struggle. With only six seniors on last year's team, a lot of people will be returning that played considerable minutes so experience will help the defense improve automatically. Hopfully, the new coaching staff can build on that.

DrDave has eluded to what I think has been a problem for more than just last year. I can't count more than twice last year, once at the end of the Grundy County game and once in the Notre Dame game (I believe), where we got a big stop on defense. I can't point a finger on whether or not it was the scheme, match ups, or what, but as a team we have not tackled well over the last couple of years. We have had individuals do well, but as a team we have just had issues with bringing people down. It's just an observation. What do you guys think?

I don't hear much out of my son, but I would like to get to know the o-line coach being that I coach that position in Vonore. I learned a lot last year from Coach Davidson & Sanders. I try to use the same terminology and drills that the high school uses. It seems like every line coach seems to have a different approach.

Shea came home yesterday, 6-17, and mentioned that one of the possible Sequoyah asst coaches is a former Tennessee Titan. Anybody know any truth to this or his name? Jerry Denham
