  1. I am just a fan of bowling and have become very interested in high school bowling and how the kids are doing. I have been watching the blogs this year because another coach said that there was some interesting information on here. While i have caught some of the discussions about coverstock, which ball to use, etc. I have also been keeping up with how you kids have been bowling. So far I see that most of you believe Brandon Barnes is the one to beat, that Smyrna is to win the state championship this year, and that there has been some upheaval with the teams from east tn.

Is there anyone else out there who has some good things going? Any other bowlers that could give Brandon a run for his money? What other teams are to be considered?

I hope you all have a great year!

The boy's team on the rise in East Tn has got to be Soddy Daisy they are 6-0 blowing everybody out accept Hixson. They are loaded with sophomore and freshmen talent. Three names I keep hearing alot about is Allyn Pickett, Matt Lyon, and Andy Holden. Pickett a freshmen almost bowled a 300 in tonights match with Signal Mtn, shot 289 and average's 210. Holden a sophomore has come off the bench the last four games to average a insane 240+ and hard throwing soph Matt Lyon is averaging in 2 teens as well.Their two other freshmen are pushing the upper classmen starters hard for starting rows as well. Look for this team to make some noise come tournament time.

  2. BCW...if we were looking for another coach " and i don't know that we are "who do you think is the man for the job, or do you think we need to go out of town for a coach? Don't beat around the bush, just tell us if you have a man that you think could turn the program around. I have said on here many times that i was a Coach Brown backer and always will be, and thought they made a mistake when they let him go. So lets here it, who's the MAN?

    Here ya go! Cos Dematteo

  3. By major upset should I take it you mean Farragut or Ooltewah? With the way the Trojans have played thus far I wouldn't consider a victory over any other remaining teams on their schedule an upset. McMinn and Oak Ridge are certainly capable, but so long as Soddy doesn't beat itself, the Trojans should be more than competitive in those games.

I was thinking along the lines of Oak Ridge, Farracut, Ooltewah.

  4. HHS gets to take the long haul down to Soddy Daisy this week. What should be expected?

Expect gas shortages, were still having shortages at the pumps so fill your tanks up at home. This may save you money and aggravation being gas is 3.76 gal down here. Now! back to football! I think Soddy Daisy will win but might be pretty tough going this game is a must win to continue on the road to a winning season and possible playoff berth. The schedule is going to be tough from here on out. But I do expect Soddy will pull a major upset before the year is out. Good luck to both teams and to a hard fought injury free game.

  5. Lighten up Francis, this person was just posting a score. Soddy is a good young team but Everyones Favorite team has youth too. David Weeks, Kyle Holly-- freshman, Jack Noonan and Todd Krum-- Sophomore Kyle Whittler Junior. Look foward to watching these two teams battle for several years, it should be fun.

You mean there is bowling in High School ??

Cat, I have no problem with someone posting their scores. They should be proud of their team. It's just I find it ironic they post them on my reply to one of the Soddy Daisy player's Dad's post. Oh well no big deal I guess it's all in fun.

Is there High School Bowling? Just ask your very own Notre Dame girl golfer and bowler Shannon Smith she is one of the best girl bowlers in the state!

  6. Irish Top soddy by 7.

    Irish 137

    Soddy 144

Cute! Have your little fun. Just remember Soddy Daisy is a very young team, better enjoy your victory while it lasts. I will have my fun when little Notre Dame's boy's Bowling team bowls Soddy Daisy Boys. HELLO!!

  7. Where, oh where is Redbankpride1, I just wonder how good that crow tastes. He must be in hiding.......For somebody to talk so much, he sure has shut it up.........

I think somebody told me he is over at Sylvan learning center...lol

    SODDY DAISY TROJANS 33

GREATER CHATTANOOGA AREA /RED BANK LIONS 22

  8. Old Pirate, I sure hope you are right, but if we play like we did this past Friday we are going to have a very long season. Our team has an offense and a defense that has been built around one player and everyone knows he has not been healthy as of late. I still think we can have a good season if we can get a few things turned around.

Old Pirate is right , Bledsoe was just out of sync last week being the first game and all. I say Bledsoe wins by 21 points and gets better every week from here on out. Warrior fans will be feeling alot better next week.

  9. yall better watch out for our team this year. our #1 golfer, Sunshine Tiffany, drives the ball 350 ft. with a killer putting game. But her biggest threat is her sand wedge. Watch out everyone. WE MEAN BUSINESS. /bored.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bored:" border="0" alt="bored.gif" />

How about driving the ball 350 ft with a sand wedge Last time I checked 350 ft is only about 117 yard's.

  10. has anyone been keeping up with the soddy daisy high golf teams?...both are off to great starts. seems both are young but the boys team is really young. they are starting 2 freshmen and a sophmore as there first 3. then they have a junior #4 and 2 seniors on the team. last week against bradley county they scored a 33,35,36 and 37 with another 37 not needed. been keeping up with them through the times/freepress and looks they are 5-1 with there only loss coming from a very good walker valley team. keep your eyes on the 2 freshman.....jacob clark from loftis middle and zachary hester from soddy daisy middle. both are very good and should get better. hester won the middle school district tournament his 7th and 8thn grade year. and lost a playoff for a regional win his 8th grade year. both he and clark have a ton of jr. tournament experience. it should really payoff in the long run. keep your eyes on this young team in the future.

Oh Yeah, I've been keeping up with them since their first match that they won against Red Bank this year, and watching the paper to see how they are doing. I knew this team would do well as I kept up with most of them during the Jr tournaments this summer. Hope you guy's take the district and region this year. How about the girls team somebody fill me in on them." Good luck" the Trojan Nation is proud of yall!

  11. It's comen evrybody are yall ready????

Nopw weve all seen both temas lets here it

It's a good thing you don't go to Soddy Daisy. You would never cut it in the class room there with that Spelling and grammar. Yeah! I think Red Bank might have the better football team this year. Who Knows? But Soddy's academics is second to none. Their football team is a year away. Good Luck in the classroom!

  12. i think im just going to get my ball resurfaced... u think thats a good idea?

H'mmm yeah, I would give it a try just start your surface on the ball on the light side and work down till you get your desired reaction. Just remember Ebonite balls are high Maintenance if they are not cleaned and maintain on a regular basis their coversocks will die on you. I highly suggest buying some micro-fiber towels at any automotive store and wipe the oil off the ball every first ball you throw. Then second buy a bottle of Ebonite clean & Dull cleaner and clean your ball every week with it that should stop alot of that oil absortion and dirt build up in the pours of the ball. However, I still would keep saving those pennies for a new ball the last thing you want is a ball losing it's reaction come tournament time. Good luck keep us posted how it works out.

  13. and baseball is the worst........... as long as there a single A school or magnet school around every corner in Chattanooga people are gonna go were little Johnny can participate (reminds me of Upward)

You are dead on the money about that. Most High school teams are nothing more than one big stinking Political Cess pool when it comes to baseball. I only watch Football, Basketball, and Bowling Matches anymore.

  14. The high school bowlers of Tennessee come in all shapes, sizes, and talents. Every year, we see a lot of good bowlers become great, and lots of new bowlers who have great potential. If you've worked on your game over the summer and straightened out some kinks in your form, post it here! Let us know just how much time you've put into becoming a better bowler!

I have practice with my spare ball Ebonite Tornado all summer. The ball is low end and a weak cover stock will make you have to throw a good shot every time. It makes me create good timing, and release, and make adjustments to be able to carry. I think it has paid off. I've thrown my high end ball in the summer league and average 219 on a house shot that had open bowling and birthday parties on the lanes all day before leagues.

  15. i kinda want a new ball i have a total nv rite now and want something like that maybe a little more hook... any suggestions?

If you wanna stick with Ebonite then I would go with what Big Money said NVD. However, I've heard great things about tracks Uprising ball very clean and smooth with plenty of hook, if you don't have the hook in OOB condition that you desire than take it down to 2000 abralon and that should be money. I will be throwing one at tracks demo day Aug 20th at Holiday Bowl Hixson I will post my thoughts on it then. Good luck hope the new ball brings you many of honor scores.

  16. If you've got a hunch at who might be the state champs this year, let's hear about it. Last year, Columbia Central won the Division I boys' title while the Division I girls' state champs were Hendersonville. Now that the new season is just around the corner, tell me who you think will be crowned next year, boys, girls, or both if you wish. Also, feel free to post who you think will be runner-up, etc. on each side. Don't hold back, post all your thoughts! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

It is way to early to tell. I can pretty much guess either Hendersonville, White Station, Hardin County on the girls side...BTW there is no Hixson Girls team this year they are going Co-ed this year and next year no team at all it looks like. The new Signal Mtn High school will replace them in the District.

Well on the boy's side H'mmm. I'd say Smryna, in Middle TN. In West Tn it will be Hardin Co. or White Station. And East Tn Soddy Daisy. One of those four teams looks good to win it. This is just my guess things can change in this amount of time before State. Good Luck and Good Bowling to all teams this year.

  17. I would like to take this opportunity and welcome new Signal Mtn High School Bowling teams. I heard they have already hired Red Banks soccer coach to coach both boys, and girls bowling teams. I hope if any of their Bowlers, or coaches are lurking on here they would feel free to post, and update us on how it's going. Also we hear the new school is really going to be awesome. Good Luck" and look forward to seeing your teams soon.

  18. I've observed some scores of Scott's and Matt's, and from what I can tell, Scott is the better bowler. He's been averaging about 230 per game lately, as where Matt is fortunate to break 600 in a series. Maybe Matt's just in a slump, but Scott is certainly on fire.

WOW!!! I'm really impressed. I think I am going to get Scott's autograph. (snicker)

  19. Has a zone been established yet? From the way I read it seemed the Red Bank zone would move north and so would Hixson's, up into the Middle Valley area where students currently attend Soddy-Daisy. Regardless it doesn't seem the zones in Chattanooga are too strict.

The last word I heard was Red Banks zone would go north to Cloverdale at Hixson Pike. Hixson would go to Thrasher pike and Gold Point Circle on Big Ridge. It might go to Daisy Dallas Rd which would take in a ton of Soddy Daisy zoned students. And yes your right! Chattanooga is not too strict on zones.

Good luck to you guy's on a new coach y'all deserve a good coach. Your Baseball field is awesome and you have great community support. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Sequatchie County. Y'all are one a few programs that is not a "Political Cess Pool" program. Peace!

  20. Hixson and Sequatchie Co. coaches resign

    What's going on?

Ooltewah was vacant, now CSAS, Hixson and Sequatchie County all need coaches.

I don't know what is going on with these other schools. But as for Hixson I'cant say as I blame the coach for quitting there. The talent coming up is dropped off pretty substantial and these "Hardship cases" is killing Hixson Athletics. I talked to one of the asst football coaches the other day about the new zoning area coming in effect to help Hixson he basically said those effected would just file hardship. I think the baseball coach saw the light at the end of the tunnel, and knew it was a oncoming train.

Just on a side note I saw where Roger Vandergriff resign as Athletic director of Hixson also. Wow what's up with that. Things have really change since I went to Hixson very unstable in athletics, and the schools image.
