  1. Hey genius, what part of "If your profile is correct" do you not understand??? Furthermore, didn't YOU go to Central as well??? Hello pot my name is kettle. :thumb: Which leads me to my next point. You haven't coached anything at Central. NOBODY that had a kid that played for Coach Derrick has EVER coached at Central. NEVER. Your so full of crap you couldn't coach a circle jerk at a nudist colony. :thumb:

That's just funny right there,, I don't care who you are..

    :roflol: :roflol:

  2. Ricky Holliday would be an outstanding choice to lead that program. I have talked to him throuhout the years and know him personally. He is a great coach, loves the area and will work hard. I don't know anything about this past year, but he has been there for the last couple of coaching searches and stayed through all of them. THat shows dedication so reward that.

I heard Holliday has already been told they will find somebody else.

  3. Which side will you be sitting on tonight Tigertrainer? I'm sure you are torn between family or alma mater. :popcorneater:

I won't be sitting on either side, You can always find me on the fence.

If I were sitting, I would definitely be on the Meigs side. My alma mater is not playing. I went to Rhea County. But I have had family playing at Meigs.

That's why I'm a Meigs fan. Hope they get it turned around tonight.

    GO TIGERS!!!!!

  4. The Tigers are focused on winning!! WE didn't go after Rayl last year and won't this year. BUT given the opportunity we will hit any QB. Most of our kids that start didn't play with Rayl before he left. People have gotton over him leaving. It's kinda of funny that he left Meigs because he thought the OL wouldn't be able to protect him. From what I hear that's an issue at Central this year. GO TIGERS!!!

Sorry Pride just going by what I've heard. Is the intercom not working anymore?

    GO TIGERS!!!!!

  5. tigers still have problems at quarterback, or have the straitened that out?

Nothing straightened out yet, Mckinney will still be QB tonight.

I hear they are planning to hit Rayl every chance they get, They're hoping for more rain to slow Central down some.

We're all still trying to figure out who our head coach is exactly,, It's looking like it might be T. B--ch???

    :thumb::blink::P

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!

  6. Rumor has it that last years two quarterbacks are not playing next year. Any truth to this?

Heard the same thing, I spoke to one of two's dad the other day. He said he's planning on concentrating on baseball.

I hear the other one is going to stay with basketball.

Doesn't sound very promising this year. We'll just have to wait and see.

  7. but if i can remember when meigs went to state didnt they have like only 2 coaches(not sure just askin)

I might be mistaken, But I believe those same 2 coaches offered to come back this year and help (for free), and were told that they were not needed.

I wonder if the current coaching staff still feels the same way now?

  8. Sounds like there needs to be some house cleaning in Decatur /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

    BINGO!!!!

Some former Meigs players who played in the SEC and NFL recently offered to come in and help get things back on track.

They were turned down. They were told their help was not needed.

They didn't say they wanted to take over,, Just help out.

  9. Although the entire Central team played well, and many players are worth commenting on, in this post I want to commend Mr. Rayl for playing a very good game. His coolness and composure was evident as he managed the game and displayed excellent leadership and patience in running the offense. And his defensive play was even more impressive.

I'm not one with too much pride to admit when I'm wrong, but when he transferred to Central I wasn't one of his biggest fans for many reasons - which I won't delve into. But I was wrong about his leadership and ability to be a team player. Amidst controversy, naysayers, jealousy, and being physically attacked, this young man has just gone about the business of improving as an individual, and improving those around him, by his actions - not just words. I commend Coach Derrick for seeing something special in Zack and sticking with molding him into the leader and positive example he is becoming.

Hey Crew,, Are you going to be able to pull "Mr. Rayl" into the Baseball program at Central?

He's just as good at baseball. Question is, Can you get him to play baseball at Central?

  10. I saw in a previous thread someone was asking about some asst. coaches leaving Meigs. I believe you will see some changes at Meigs before next season.

One change has already been made, It is good to see The Head Coach "coaching" from the sidelines now, instead of letting someone else do it.

My main concern is this: Who will we get to come to Meigs to coach? Does anybody know someone interested in coming to Meigs?

We have some of the worst facilities in the state. The lights around the field have not been updated since the early 60's, The dressing room since the early 80's, The field has about a 10 ft. drop from one end to the other. and there is no money in the budget for any future upgrades.

There have been some nice improvements to the Baseball, Softball, and Basketball facilities while football gets ignored.

Most people don't understand how much money it really takes to keep up a football program. You have 10 -15 kids to take care of on a baseball, softball, basketball team. You have 40 - 60 kids on a football team. The equipment needed to play football costs more than other sports. Unlike the other sports, the football players are at the school (weight room, practice field) 10 months out of the year.

You only get 5 home games a year to try to raise what money you can. After that it's up to the coaches, parents and boosters to take up the slack.

Those of you who want "change" at Meigs need to get involved with the program. Maybe then we will be able to attract some new blood in coaching.

  11. QUOTE (undefeated @ Sep 27 2008 - 06:30 PM) *

Shoots stats are 19 carries for 269yards 3 receptions for 89 yards 9 tackles 3 for loss what else is there to say? the deal with the coaches is crazy after 5 games people are ready to fire the coaches we havent had a basketball team

thats competitive in years yet no on says anything about Otis our coach...................

THANK YOU FOR THE STATS, THAT WAS GREAT. SHOOT IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD BE SO POSITIVE AND THEN MAKE A STATEMENT THAT SLANDERIZES ANOTHER COACH. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU LIKE TO TALK OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH OR IS IT SOMETHING ELSE YOU'RE TALKING OUT OF? GOOD LUCK TO THE TIGERS THIS SEASON, NOT ONLY IN FOOTBALL BUT EVERY SPORT. KEEP BATTLING.

I believe if you look back at some previous posts on this thread you will find that undefeated's partner in the press box was accused of the very same thing. That is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

  12. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> LEST WE FORGET, THE ANNOUNCER IS FROM MEIGS COUNTY AND SOMETIMES HE TALKS OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF HIS MOUTH. I AGREE ABOUT THE PUNT RETURN. I DOUBT ANYONE WOULD LAY DOWN AND STOP JUST TO KEEP FROM PUTTING POINTS ON THE BOARD. I JUST REALLY FEEL SORRY FOR THE PLAYERS AT MEIGS AT THIS POINT. ESPECIALLY GARY SHOOT. HE HAD AN AWSOME GAME ON FRIDAY NIGHT.

Yes Tiger73 is from Meigs, and has been accused in the past of talking too much.

Is there any truth that the McKinney kid is now thinking about concentrating on baseball instead of playing any more football? I hear that he has been getting coached one way by an asst. coach, and another way by the head coach.

Then he has to take the blame when things go wrong. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  13. Does anybody know what's going on within the Meigs Football program? I understand all programs have their up and down times. But I live near Decatur and follow high school football. Seems like every time I'm in town I hear a new rumor about what is wrong with the football team.

Most of them seem to point to the coaches. I know the Head Coach has been there before and was successful. Heard that one asst. coach tried to quit this week when he got caught by a parent "yelling" at a player in the parking lot. Also that there is turmoil between coaches. They can't agree on play calling. and so on.

Heard that some former players and athletes from other sports wanted to come out and play last week, to try and help revive the football program. But were turned away because they haven't done their time on the practice field.

Normally I would agree with the fact they need to "do their time on the practice field" but with things going like they are currently, It might be a good idea to accept any help you can get.

I'm not talking about any one player that has transferred or quit. I'm talking about a large group of players that have decided not to play football at Meigs.

There has to be some truth to what I'm hearing.

Tell me what your thoughts are..

Exactly what I have been saying,, But no one wants to talk about it.

  14. Don't think you want to travel down that road Trainer. If a kid that SHOULD be playing football but is not playing football don't blame it on the coaches. The truth is their is NOT that many athletes walking the halls at Meigs. The ones that are just do not have the commitment or "want to" to put in the work to be a member of the football team. As far as former head coaches volunteering their time to coach I say BULL. They are FORMER coaches for a reason. Either their ship has sailed or their relatives are no longer a member of our program. We have enough problems right now without any of you jumping on our coaches so lighten up and play the hand you have been dealt.

Can't say that I blame them. I guess the future of Meigs County's sports program will be determined by the girls softball team. That's where all the money is going.

  15. What is it going to take to get some new assistant coaches here at Meigs? Will it take just one year of losing? Maybe it will take two or three years before we wake up.

Clint Baker is a name to consider. We need to be looking at Defensive coordinators, O Line coaches, Receivers Coaches,,,, How bad does it have to get?

It's not because we don't have the athletes. Most of our athletes are walking the halls at school because of the current coaching staff.

Don't try to tell me it's because there's no teaching vacancy, We had former Head Coaches offer to volunteer their time, and they were turned away.

    WAKE UP MEIGS COUNTY!!!!!!!

  16. Self over TEAM. Too bad. Who is playing there now?

I've never known Meigs offence to center around a QB anyway. They usually run the ball down peoples throats. How about the Meigs linemen, are they big this year?

Heard that Meigs had another lineman quit this week and a coach.

    Any truth to it?

  17. coach derrick had an arm to throw it with last year....jordan jackson...he threw for more than a thousand yards......that same qb...who also ran for over six hundred yards....is now at running back.....more reason to establish the running game early...but i don't know....coach d is the coach and can do what he wants....they did go undefeated in the region so they must be doing something right....

but it doesn't matter if they have peyton manning at qb and LT at running back....if we don't get some better blocking up front than i have seen they won't be able to run or throw the football. but the tallent is there they will get it together.

I agree, I think Jackson can be even more productive at running back, IF Coach D. will use him. Don't understand what's going on with Central's O-line. Didn't the whole unit return from last year?
