I attended the scrimmage yesterday evening, and I will provide a brief report.
First, the format of the scrimmage was 10 plays for each offense. After 10 plays the other team got the ball.
Central scored on their first possession with a 40-50 yard run on a delay handoff. Nice run by the back.
DB moved the ball to the central 5 on their first possession, but turned it over on downs. Crawford hit Sylvester at about the 5 for a pass that would have been a TD, but the pass was droped.
DB scored on their next possession w/ CS taking the ball in from about 40 yards out. Very nice run and he broke a couple of arms tackles along the way. CS was punishing throughout the evening.
Roop picked off a poorly thrown ball during one series. Due to the format, central retained possesion and scored on a short pass - long run on the very next play. QB probably threw the ball to the LOS, and the WR ran about 60-70 yards untouched.
Central scored on another long pass when the DB defensive back mistimed his jump. He should have either intercepted or deflected it, but the central WR caught it an ran in from about hte 15 yard line.
Central starters were up 3-1. Game was closer than the scored showed, IMO.
DB has several fumbles w/ the first team O. CS had two, crawford one and lawson one.
DB looked OK on O, but not great.
DB was dominating at times on D, but gave up several big plays.
Central has a nice team with some size and speed. It will be interesting to see what they do this year. Best of luck to the bobcats!
CS is a nice back but the scoring run you speak of was against a majority of 2nd team players. The DB O wasnt effective against Centrals 1st team D

Dont get too excited ....FYI everyone takes DOBYNS(do a spell check please)BENNETT to the wood shed in scrimmages. Try to do it when the season starts there Mr Blobcat.
Yeah Halls was pretty successful last week against the Indians. Right??
By the way Im not a Bobcat fan just went to the scrimmage.

I watched the Central vs Dobbins Bennet scrimmage last night at Central and the BobCats spanked the Indians. Centrals first team D dominated the Indians and the offense looks to have the most fire power since the days of Helton, Terrence Scott and Cassen Jackson.

Any reports on the scrimmage Central had yesterday? Anybody!
Central took Dobbins Bennet to the Wood shed. People may be wrong about the Cats this year. The running and passing game looked good especially for the first scrimmage. The defense was tough also, DB never saw the End Zone against the first team Defense. Central looks to have the most offensive fire power they've had since 04.

i believe with the new Nike contract at MHS a term in the contract is we have to play another Nike sponsored school within the next five years... so you may get your wish. The Herbstreet Classic was talked about but i'm not sure if that fell through or was scheduled for the future... we'll have to wait and see.
Perhaps they already play a NIKE sponsored school. In the AA forum on this board theres a post in reference to Alcoa being a NIKE sponsored school.

Direct Quote=" Another one-fourth of the students live outside the city and pay tuition to attend Maryville."
How many of those are playmakers on the field for the Red Rebels?

How did an Ole Miss guy end up in East Tennessee with his kid in Blount County.

Maryville and Re-Classification
in Class 5A & Class 6A

Folks talk about classifications and transfers for MHS all the time, in some ways these thoughts could hold some weight. Its no secret Maryville gets transfers, in fact it may be interesting to know the zip codes of the kids on the roster vs the Maryville zoned zip codes. BUT the truth is this. How many people believe the Red Rebels have more tallent than Powell or Clinton or Alcoa or even Central. I have seen all these teams and I guarantee the answer is NO. Maryville looks very average tallent wise. I would like to give an illustration, below is a box containing a series of the letter B can you find the single number 8 in the Box?

George quarles and staff would find the answer quickly while your rubbing your head. As long as this Maryville coaching staff stays together the Red Rebels will win big.
By the way the single number 8 is in row 8, 7 over from the left.
