  1. Shouldn't matter what team he plays on, shouldn't matter who is a D1 recruit. It should go to who has meant the most to their team this year. Kelly gets and takes a lot of shots and yes, I know he really doesn't have a lot to go with him this year. I think the mvp will probably be teichmann simply because he is on the #1 team and the other "best" player on his team went down early in the year with a season ending injury. He has more help but he has carried them this year.

I think those are the only two real choices though.

I dont think theres any doubt that Kelly has carried Centennial this year. But the fact is they arent in the top half of the district. Any chance of a co-MVP with Teichmann and Kelly?

  2. Top Tier Teams:

Franklin (3): James Haddix, Michael Young, Peyton Henry

Brentwood (3): Kyle Teichmann, David Hood, Kevin Bach

Indy (2): Blake Carden, Ryan Eilermann

    Bottom Tier Teams

    Hillsboro: Arthur McMillan

    Centennial: Drew Kelley (MVP)

    Ravenwood: Richmond Watkins

    Overton: Patrick McPhail

    Hillwood: none

    Top Coaches:

    Coach King

    Coach Johnson

I agree with everything said above. But does the arguement that because Drew Kelly's team is not even in the top 4 become a problem for the MVP award?

  3. Riley Stoner has quit the team at Ravenwood from what I understand. David Howard is at MBA but plays JV and isn't in the rotation on varsity (coaches decision). I don't know why except to say that maybe he doesn't know the offense. Maybe somebody from MBA can weight in on that. He probably should have finished this season at Independence and picked up a couple of offers then transferred. He was certainly on pace to do that at Indy. Both schools are somehow winning without him. As far as Tiddwell, I'm wondering that myself.

Tidwell attends brentwood high but doesnt play due to a season ending injury. Has something to do with his knee/foot?

  4. I agree with the franklin fans. Michael Young and company are as mentally tough as it gets. They will bounce back and start dominating games like they should. And as far as the Franklin - Brentwood game, i dont want to hear about foul trouble or a bad shooting night. It was identical for both teams. I look forward to Feb. 6th. Rebels come to the Bruins home court for round 2. It should be a great game to watch.

  5. I was also at the BHS-FHS game last night, and I definitely do not agree with that. Franklin got into early foul trouble with Glover and Miller-McLemore, and as a team the Rebels shot very poor, and most weren't very contested shots. Rebels couldn't get their shots to fall, and they finally turned it on, but too little too late, as they went from down something like 16 with 5 minutes to go, and finally losing by 3. I think it was not indicative of the Rebels, and I predict a blow-out win at Brentwood later this year.

On another note, the officiating last night was possibly the worst I have ever seen. Ever. Starnes follows a Haddix miss (I think) in the air, and puts it back while still in the air, is fouled, and he is only shooting 1/1????? Awful calls both ways throughout the game, but I think the officiating hurt Franklin more because they play hard defense, and they were being called for staying with their man, and just barely touching him. Terrible.

I agree the officials were not the best, but the officals got together and Starnes ended up shooting 2 freethrows. Both teams had foul trouble and both teams had trouble from the 3pt line. The bruins have won 9 out of their last 10 games. This game was not a fluke. It came down to who wanted it the most. Good win bruins keep it up.

  6. I watched the brentwood at franklin game last night. Brentwood came out fired up and held the lead the whole game. Also if i recall correctly james haddix didnt play much or at all in the second half. Props go to the bruins for a hard fought victory on an away court. After seeing that game this is how i predict the district to end up.

    1. Brentwood

    2. Franklin

    3. Indy

    4. Hillsboro

    5. Centennial

    6. Overton

    7. Ravenwood

    8. Hillwood

  7. As always, pick against the Rebels, hard to pick against this group of seniors, no more streak pressure to deal with relaxes this group I think, and the emregence of Haddix will provide an inside game that's dynamic when you combine Starnes and Haddix in the post

i agree this franklin squad plays well together and compliments each other very well, but what u seem to not understand that brentwood with tidwell(the best athlete in 11AAA) back along side kyle teichmann is a studly duo. This is brentwoods year to shine. No one can guard tidwell outside or tiech (with the exception of drew kelly) and even if u double team either one they have two outside shooters in Hood and Orr that will hit from deep all day.

  8. Held their own- and then some. Bruins dismantled Indy on TV 42-14.

Indy's first possession; one first down, then punt. Brentwood's first possession: one play, TD.

Indy's second possession; one play, interception. Brentwood's second possession: 5 plays, TD

That pretty much set the tone for the entire night.

Bruins pounded the smaller Indy team unceasingly the first half. Lone Eagle TD in the first half was the result of a re-punt after a procedure penalty that gave them the ball at their own 45.

Second half, Eagles recover their own on-side kick, but are pushed back and forced to punt. Bruins score, and on the ensuing kick-off, the Bruins offer Indy some of their own medicine: Bruins recover an onside kick-of their own.

One pass play, Bruins TD: and the game was essentially over.

Bruins offense shut it down midway through the 3rd Q and starting subbing liberally. Bruins add another TD with a pick 6 from Coffey. Indy gets the last points on the ensuing KO return for a touchdown.

Wilson played for the injured Krow and ran the offense very capably. While he doesn't run as well as AJ, he offers a more solid passing threat. His TD pass to Evans was a perfect throw over the Eagle DB, catching the receiver in stride.

Bruins look very efficient (sans the penalties) in taking care of business. Shut down what little threat Indy offered in the run game, put a lot of hits on the Eagle QB's and kept the Eagle passing game in front of them. Offensively they controlled the line and the clock.

One more challenge left before the Region Championship is awarded.

Good job by the boys from Murray Lane and a cold and damp October night.

just a correction. Krows replacement was Clay Webber, Not Wilson whoever that might be. That will be all

  9. Drew Kelly has alot. I know he was getting some looks from UT, Louisville, Bama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Iowa, Miami U., Southern Illinois, WKU, and MTSU among others. Apparently he is also getting some offers for football.

yes but from what ive heard hes looking more at the football offers than basketball.. no matter what he chooses to do he will be a high prospect either way

  10. It's time to start worrying about the players Franklin has. Miight I remind you, Young, Starnes, Glover, Miller Mclemore, Henry, Haddix, Pace, etc.

Franklin is not a "one man team" by any means. Never has been.

Lets not forget when Kegarise did not play last year against Brentwood, Peyton Henry started and finished with 17 pts in a 16 pt win.

Those of you de-throning the Rebels in August, I'd make sure you knew what you are talking about.

    Please, keep doubting...

im not taking away anything from the franklin players now.. they are pretty good players but taking away their best outside presence is a huge deal. and yes i will continue to doubt.. but doubt that they will go undefeated in the district, not that they will not still be a really good team

  11. I would give Hood the slight edge over Young. Last I heard Consiglio wasn't playing this year, or atleast he didn't play this summer and that is the only sport that he plays so the interference reasoning would be immediately ruled out as to why he didn't play.

I think young is more of a creater but as far as a pure shooter I'd have to go with Hood.. If anyone saw the antioch game last year against brentwood they'd understand

  12. I'd say Michael Young.

Interesting to see how this loss plays out. Franklin always held the "Reload rather than Rebuild" mantra, but that is a HUGE loss for the Rebels.

Young in the district or on franklin? I would have to say consiglio at indy or hood at brentwood

  13. Why do I have a feeling that 7 teams in 11-AAA are having a huge party at this moment?

On a serious note, good luck to Kevin. He's a great guy, and a great player. Hope everything works out for him.

haha i totally agree with the party statement

  14. ok so the rumor was true and kegarise is leaving franklin.. taking away one of.. if not the best shooter in the district from the franklin squad. just curious but now that kegarise is gone who is the most dangerous 3pt shooting threat now

  15. Like the oak hill in virgina? If its that one he made a bad choice

I'm not sure if its that oak hill.. But (kevin) told a good friend of mine he's leaving franklin for oak hill.. I'm not sure if its a joke or what.. I'd like to get comfirmation from some people in franklin if this is true or not

  16. Very disappointed to see Ben leaving (this is the first I've heard of it). He was a hard-working kid and and overall great guy to be around. Wish him the best wherever he ends up.

As for Travis Williams, he's an upcoming senior who has shown some good promise over the past two seasons. He basically stepped into the role Lamont had two years ago. Solid defensively with constantly improving offensive skills. If everything goes well this could be a breakout year for him.

No offense to williams but I don't see anyone filling the role lamont had.. When he was on there was no one in the district that could guard him
