  2. Whatever happened to ole Lavonte Barber? I remember rumors that he was going to end up at UT. I don't think that every happened. That was a great game no doubt....it was really a heartbreaker. As for the coaching (this is my last comment on it for a while, so you people who continue to instigate can just give up) we just have a difference of opinion my friends. And no Rhea Co, it was more of a gradual thing--but last year was the last straw in my book. So how about we act like adults and you all respect my opinion and Ill respect your. Cause believe me, theres many more out there who thank like I do, many. Why, whenever those rumors started swirling last year that he was leaving, I've never seen so many excited people. Anyways..I mean there ain't a doubt in my mind that Jason FItz bleeds green and gold, I just dont think he has the x's and o's that it takes nor the discipline to get this program to where it needs to be....in the end thats all I want, just like many of you, to bring Rhea County football back. well now that thats taken care of.... I hope that SD is not as tough as you make them sound HaHA! The was I see it (in my expert opinion /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ) Moffet needs to get out in the flats cathing some balls and running some toss plays. Hes a home run threat every time he runs the ball. AJ could be like that Corey Wilson boy was a few years back on that slot WR screen, everyone knew it was coming but no one could stop it. As for the defense....i just don't know. Seems to me like we've got plenty of playmakers, but were just not makin many plays. Hopefully that new coach from the north end of the county can get that pass coverage sured up this week. Im very excited about this game, have been all week. Hopefully we can edge them out!
  3. First of all I would like to say that's a very nice post. You obviously have some knowledge about what you're talking about and not just throw out random facts that don't make sense while calling people stupid. It's true that there's always gonna be what Johnnie Majors called "the legions of the miserable." I myself used to be a Fitzgerald supporter in the pre-Hamontree days, and let me remind you that the main reason he was replaced by Hamontree was the lack of discipline. (namely the "Back Valley Brawl" after the Cleveland game.) It was clear to me that the team was out of control when you have coaches throwing punches after the game. I was very excited with the return of Hamontree, and hoped he could bring us back to prominence, and I believe, if he would have planned on staying, and received the administrative support he needed, he could have. I was still cautiously optimistic going into the 2006 season when Fitzgerald took back the reigns, and after a decent 8-4 season (that was their record right?) I was still fairly confident in their ability to coach. Last year ruined that for me. In my opinion it was a terrible coaching performance. From yanking Swafford after a 3-1 start, to various other players who were playing in the wrong position, to letting roberts get injured in that Walker Valley blowout, to having to sit and listen to players swear on the sidelines. I was talking with a former player after the Maryville game last year down on the field just telling him he played well. It struck me as strange that he didn't seem to be upset or anything, but then he told me, and I quote, "well none of us really expected to win, we all knew we had just as good of athletes as them, but the team has no faith in the coaches..." Now I don't expect our coaching staff to be like Quarles and have that unbelievable amount of success, but I do expect them to be able to inspire their players and make them believe. I want some coach to come in who makes the players believe, makes me believe, makes this whole county believe again.....and whether that happens or not, I'll be up in the stands every Friday night yelling for my boys!
  4. So can you give us some info on Soddy Rhea Co, the offense they run, playmakers, etc..
  5. As I said, I'm done fighting. The personal attack came when he said that myself and my child were stupid. Can we please move on?
  6. Well son I have checked my facts. First of all I'd like to say thanks for making my point for me about the 3-5-3. If we ran any 4 front it was little to none. That win over Cleveland was a sweet one, I remember it quite well, but there's no doubt they weren't that good. If my memory serves me correct they go on to get blown out by a Knoxvillle team in the first round of the playoffs. That central team was horrible and they almost let them come from behind and beat us. I remember it well too. You couldn't find anyone who would say that either one of those teams had "way more talent" then us. In my eyes--that 2006 team and the 2007 team were some of the most talented teams we've had in a while. And the coaches have wasted it away. i'm done arguing. so has there been any more word on the SD qb?
  7. Coach Horton was a great man and a great coach. I don't have much else to say on that matter. you can call it being an armchair quarterback or whatever you want, but--just like many other fans up in those stands on Friday nights, it kills me to watch the team I love slip into mediocrity (and if that aint what you think we are then i beg to differ). Especially when we have players good enough to compete and be winning region championships. And eagle4ever, the Mcminn game I'm speaking of is the game that they had the great running back who rushed for 250 yards, and I can assure you that we were running the three front. It was Wilson's senior year, 2006. I really donnot appreciate the personal attack on myself and my family. I don't see how you can say the problem with RC football is the fans. Now i'll never point out a player and say something negative about him, but in my view the coaches are fair game. How long has it been since you've watched us out coach a team? Honestly think about that. When's the last time we beat a team who was more talented than us because of coaching? I'm sorry if i've offended anybody. My view is that I've spent my years wearing the jersey, and I've paid the price of admission for many a season so I have to right to voice my opinions. Just so happens it has to be the same opinion as most of Rhea county. Now lets quit this fighting and talk about the game Friday night. If there's something we can agree on it should be we hate the Trojans.
  8. and just so you know it doesn't take a phd in football to see many of the problems with our team. go up into the stands on any friday night and you can hear middle school players, 40 year old women, and old men who have seen every RC game for the past 34 years pointing out these problems. I can remember my son, who was around 12, pointing out our ignorance in running the 3 front defense against a team who was running all over us (Mcminn 2 or 3 years ago). It's not rocket science. Although having a college degree might help.
  9. find someone who disagrees with me on that issue. Cumberland and hixon both had great field position because of our kickoff coverage.
  10. i hope to goodness weve put in some time practicing kickoff coverage this week. its has been TERRIBLE.
  11. I don't think you have to worry about A.J. not getting the ball. The only real way to keep it out his hands is to kick it away from him and Moffett like Hixson did. I also trust Cam to make the right decisions, and get A.J. and Moffett the ball as much as possible. I really wouldn't be so worried at all if they would just start strong in the first half. The first and second halfs the last two games have been like night and day. the teams we have played have no depth. they get tired and we take over the game in the second half. It's happened in both games. They beat a down red bank team and a down william blunt team so dont get too high on the trojans buddy. 2 games can't be a judge for how good a team is. RC could go 3-7 the rest of the season and I honestly wouldn't be all to suprised from what ive seen so far. Then again they could go 8-2 or even run the table. no one knows. but I do know that if that coaching staff doesn't come out with their team motivated, and the o and d lines (besides number 28) don't show up for a third straight week then it's going to be a long night in Evensville on friday.
  12. if the eagles show up like they did last week against a supposedly terrible hixson team then they are gonna get it bad this week. As bad as I hate to say it. AJ Brown needs the ball--nuff said. In my view the 2008 teams success is in his hands. Give him the ball. Please.
  13. the boys in green and gold just have too much talent for it to be close. i hope.
  14. Well they're smarter than us. Rhea 33 Hixson 7.
  15. I don't see why Revis and the rest of the starters were still into the game deep into the 4th quarter either. You would think after the injury to Roberts last year that some people would learn.
  16. and I didn't mean to personally attack this Lovelady boy. I dont know em from Adam but Im sure he's a fine young man.
  17. I do not know who you are, but you obviously know your Rhea County football, but i got to disagree with you on this. I just think that some kids don't have it in them, they're not made to be football players. It takes more than just athletic ability. I know that if I'm lining up on 4&1 against Cleveland for the region title and I look to my side and the player in green and gold next to me has failed his teamates over and over again, I just don't have faith. I believe it destroys team unity. I want someone next to me who I know is committed to giving his all. That's how it used to be. I can bet that you won't see any former quitters wearing state championship rings at Maryville because I've got a feeling those coaches have an idea about team unity. ....and in my opinion thats what it all comes down to, coaching. It comes down to discipline. Self discipline by the coaches and players. Now you can say winning seasons and name some misleading stats all you want, but we all know Rhea County football isn't what it used to be, and I this is a big part of the problem. After sayin all that, nothing would make me happier than a 15-0 season. This ole body of mine's got one last jump left in it to tear down those goal post at middle tenn. state.
  18. i just have a hard time believing Hixson could be that much worse than the jets. I think we win by a good amount (21 points maybe?), but after seeing Cumberland drive it down our throats........i just dont think we can hold Hixson scoreless (they usually have at least a few good athletes). Hate to break it to you, but with the exception of a few players, our defense is soft. VERY soft.
  19. Good win for the boys last night. it wasn't pretty at times, but they got it done. Here's a couple of points from the game: AJ and Moffet are still the game breakers, number twenty two (Lovelady?) is lightning fast, we need to do away with the new extra point, we need to send this new kickoff thing back to middle school where it belongs, whos decision was the onside kick? I thought it was classless, Stone intercepts anything thrown his way, that hit Swafford put on that kid was BEEutiful. Rhea Co. what's the scoop with this new linebacker? is he illegible?
  20. Who is Dennis and when did he become a starter for Rhea Co?
  21. this should be a good tune up game for the boys. itll be interesting to see how that offense performs in a real game. after seeing the scrimmage on Tuesday night, I just know that mr. brown needs the ball in his hands. has anyone heard anything for sure whether we're playing cumberland or not? I've heard rumors that we may end up with Ooltewah. so lets just hope and pray that Cumberland comes through because i've got a feeling a game with the owls would get ugly.
  22. I'm glad i got a chance to go see the boys tonight. It looks like Brown and Moffet are the playmakers to me, and most of our offense is going to be based around those two. The right side of our line looks good too. we should be able to run the ball behind them. I didn't see anything out of that QB that made me think he was anything compared to an Andy Kelly or even a Ryan Sharpe. That being said, he is just a sophomore. of course we're not going to be able to stop the run with the three front defense. It's been a plague to Rhea County football for the past half decade. Just from looking at that marion team it was pretty obvious that we had no business playing them...they're just not very good. Not being able to stop their rushing attack scares me. Let us know how it goes friday night against the Owls Rhea Co.
  23. i haven't had a chance to see this Tallent kid play yet, but from what I hear he sounds like hes gonna be good. I was unsure about this years team, but from what I read in the paper about last weeks scrimmage against science hill it sounds like were in pretty good shape. Hopefully i'll get to attend the scrimmage tomorrow and find out for sure. It's at home right?
