  1. What a truely tragic way to get us all to remember baseball is just a game. More importantly a young man lost his life, a mother and father lost their child, and I'm sure many lost a dear friend. Prayers from Henry County go out to all who knew him and are hurting.

  2. Sorry Facts, but the unfortunate fact is the ole job has had me tied up out of town. OK yall......its getting close now.....let start the score predictions......being a little bias I will say.....

    HC 21

    Powell 20

I just see no reason this won't be the battle of the year for both teams.

  3. Look...I love reading all the "smack" (so please keep bringing it) but I think we all very much realize that both teams are undefeated and this didn't happen by accident. So, the stage is set for an incredible game that none of us can realistically predict its outcome, and that is simply awesome. GO PATS.

  4. FYI......Here's the Commercial Appeal's take on the game...

"Ridgeway has played some outstanding football over the last few weeks -- especially on offense -- but the Roadrunners will have to overcome a huge challenge tonight if they are to reach the semifinals for the second year in a row. The Patriots have steamrolled past all 12 of their opponents this year, outscoring their competition by an average of 45-10. Henry County does most of its damage on the ground, with Najee Ray (960 yards, 12.6 average, 15 touchdowns) and Shaquille Allen (909 yards, 17 touchdowns) leading the way. Offense has never been a problem for Ridgeway either; Jaylen Walton enters the game with 2,320 yards and 24 scores. And Sheldon Dawson is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. But the key will be on defense; linebacker Lenard Harden, defensive tackle Adetayo Ajayi and company will have to make some stops."

    What do you think?

I think its gameday.....I like our chances....and this will be the best game the fans have gotten to see all year.

  5. Look, no one on here needs to hear that no one knows who will win until the game has been played....we all deep down know thats the truth. I feel we have a good chance to advance and I'm sure the Ridgeway faithful believe the same. Thank God for this.....it makes for some fun anxiety and anticipation all week. The weather forecast at this time for Friday night looks excellent. If both teams play their "A" game it might be the best game played in the state this week!!

  6. Oh I'm around the program more than you realize....and I said nothing about the coaches taking Northeast for granted....but I can assure you that some of the 16, 17 and 18 year old boys took them for granted. I've coached a long time.....seen it with my own eyes many times. But I'm not concerned about that game now.

  7. I'm praying the "ugly" game last night will be a wake up call the team needed. Though it seemed the officiating may have been a little suspect, it was obvious our players were not mentally focused at times. We cannot have and an extra point called back and then miss.....Be off sides twice on a kick off.....rough the kicker when he is kicking out of the end zone....and so on and so on......OR WE WILL NOT MAKE IT PAST NEXT FRIDAY NITE!!! I'm sure the boys took NE a little for granted and the discipline got off track somewhat. Hopefully a lesson was learned and the "ship will get tightened."

  8. Having played sports all my life(up throught the college level), I have vivid memories of playing on multiple "different" teams along the way. I remember quite well beating teams "we" were not supposed to beat and losing to teams "we" were supposed to beat. The odds are in our favor this week and this game is all that matters right now. I'm not going to predict anything beyond that at this point. Go Pats!!

  9. Ray threw the ball much better tonight I thought....we just had some "butter fingers" receivers a few times. Ainley was good with the extra points. Running game solid as usual. Once again, our defense was fierce....the key to our deep run. One poor kid from Munford was carried off by ambulance. They were very careful with him which makes me believe was either a back or neck injury???? Anyone know more about this???

  10. Very good Prez....I agree with you about Hudgins.....he was all district in football, basketball and baseball his senior year. Now an assistant coach at Inman and teacher at Rhea.....I'm glad to see him giving back to the community....By the way, don't play him in cards....he will beat you at that too. lol

  11. Hey Prez......here ya go....

  12. There has been an obvious downward slide in overall fan support of baseball in general as the past few generations have grown up. No one I know is a bigger fan of the game than me and its been a tough pill to swallow. However, the game is alive and well within the youth leagues and travel ball. Its still the BEST game to play, its just become NOT the best to watch in most peoples opinion. You have to really understand the "little things" about the game to have a real appreciation. Most don't have that deep knowledge of the game and find it boring. Its still America's Game I say though just because of the history. Football will never have the legends that can stand up to the names like Ruth, Mays, Mantle and Aaron. Its alive and well folks but the season tends to be quite a long one that loses its mystique in the day in day out routine until the playoffs.....I mean an NFL team has less than 20 games in one season while MLB teams have at least 162. Football fans are hungry by Sunday while baseball fans are watching highlights on Sportscenter most of the time. Just my persspective of it....opinion of course.

  13. I may be mistaken but I believe the poster was inquiring about the Henry County Patriots. If so, the team lost several key senior players but had several underclassmen step up last year. The team also has suffered a set back or two in losing two (would have been juniors this season) but Ive heard two players have moved to the area. The talent is there, but someone or two is going to have to step up and be leaders. Only time will tell.
