My prediction: MUS 31 McCallie 7 MUS's defense and special teams are state championship caliber, however there offense.. not so much. I still feel they should pull this one off fairly easily. I could be wrong though. I hope Im not!
-
Ba should pull this one out baring a tremendous amount of turnovers or something.
As much as i would love to see a memphis team win, i dont think CBHS is anywhere near the same level as BA. BA should win this one by 3+ TD's.
-
I am sure recruiting in High School is all about great character.
I am against bad-mouthing too and i dont think it is appropriate to come on these boards to rub in a loss to another person. However, dou, you always seem to be taking shots at MUS. I think you need to take a step back and look in the mirror before you start talking about "great character."

MUS does not have the size or speed to deal with East this season. As suspect as East Defense may or may not be, MUS will have no answer for Kimbrow! Now I don't know how many people East has playing both ways but as long as it's not how it was last season they should OUT-SCORE MUS. Can't wait to hear the results of this game.
I dont think MUS has ever had the size or speed advantage on any of the teams theyve played, or not very often atleast. I dont think that will be a factor at all. MUS has a lot better coaching and i'd imagine that's whats going to win them the game. I havent seen East play this year, but the last couple of years I have seen them play and they hurt themselves too much with penalties and not being well-disciplined. MUS will have the "bend but dont break" type of defensive game when they play East. Im sure Kimbrow will put up some good stats, but I dont think that will win them the game. I predict the score to be 31-14 MUS.

Ive had the chance to watch several of the MUS games including the South Panola game. MUS's defense is quite possibly one of the best defenses ive seen in quite a few years. Any opinions/ comments?
They are doing better now. The Ensworth game they were a little weak against the run, but then again they turned the ball over 5 times on their side of the field ( 4 int's and 1 fumble i think). I think this game against OB will be a good indicator of how much they have improved since the Ensworth and SP games.
-
Blowout in progress... 19-0 midway through the 2nd
MUS lost 19-7. The defense made the adjustments after half, but the offense didn't produce much. MUS is 1-2 with losses to Ensowrth and SP. I think MUS is better off now though because of those two losses. MUS is young and I think they learned a lot in those two losses. If MUS stays healthy I think they can win the rest of their games and make it to the championship game.
-
KWC, MUS lost to Ensowrth(defending DIIAA state champs), not MBA.
I agree with all of your picks except the HHS and CHS game. I think Houston will pull off the victory.
-
Arguably one of MUS' toughest games of the year, will MUS be able to win and/or compete with SP? My thoughts on the game are that if the Owls can begin to execute and hold on to the ball, the game will be exciting and a good competition. Execution is a must though, and the Owls have been off and on two weeks into the season.
SP is coming off of a tough loss at Hoover and will be looking for someone on which to take out their frustration. This game is at SP, and promises to have a full stadium. Come for the excitement, stay for the action. SP vs. MUS 2011 edition.
I believe MUS has what it takes to beat them, but if the QB plays like he did against Ensworth they will loose by a lot. MUS needs to watch the Hoover/South Panola film and watch how the Hoover QB picked the SP defense apart. The MUS D-fense needs to stack the box, because from what I saw of SP last week, the QB can't throw the ball at all. I'm an MUS homer, so I predict an MUS victory. 24-21
-
ensowrth is dominating mus. ive never seen an mus team execute so poorly. i dont even think mus has gotten a first down yet. Ensworth looks very good. 21-0 in the first quarter ensworth
-
kwc, ive been wondering when you were going to post your thread. I can tell you put a lot of work into it though. Im excited to see the season kick off tonight. Here are my picks...
Ridgeway over Whitestation
MUS over Ensworth ( MUS looks very good this year. Possibly a state title contender)
CBHS over Wooddale
East over Southwind
Trezevant over Melrose
-
Wow, I wish I could see this battle, this should be the game of the week in the state for week one. I will be at CBHS V. Wooddale, should be a good game too, Wooddale has one of the best backs in the state, Jovan Robinson, I think that's his name. We CBHS, might struggle this year, small inexperienced line.
MUS and Ensworth, preview of state championship?
Im really looking forward to this game. I saw the MUS scrimmage vs Ridgeway and they looked very good. I havent seen Ensworth play. But this MUS team looks like a state championship caliber team. Im hoping MUS will pull off a victory.
-
Doesn't Ensworth open @ MUS this year? Will that be the 19th? That will be an exciting game.

Yea, I was wondering what were their reasons for having them just at #7. But I definitely think that all of these teams listed should be in the top 10.

C.J. Beathard gave a verbal commitment to Ole Miss today.
Congratulations to Beathard. I just read the article about him on the Ole Miss rivals webpage. It looks like Ole Miss will have a lot of talented QB's for the next couple of seasons. Which, as of late, is unusual for them.
-
They should be pretty good. Will have a strong senior class with several D1 prospects. They had a lot of really young kids get unexpected playing time this year due to a lot of injuries on defense, so they should have some good depth.
I believe that SP had 25 Seniors on this team. They will be a top notch team as usual, but they are losing some playmakers for sure. I know they have a DT and a S that are sure fire D1 talents returning.
Here is MUS's official schedule I got off there website.
Friday, August 19, 2011 Ensworth (Site TBA)
Friday, August 26, 2011 Kingsbury
Friday, September 02, 2011 @South Panola
Friday, September 09, 2011 Central
Friday, September 16, 2011 @Olive Branch
Friday, September 23, 2011 East
Friday, September 30, 2011 CBHS
Friday, October 07, 2011 OPEN
Friday, October 14, 2011 @SBA
Friday, October 21, 2011 White Station
Friday, October 28, 2011 @BCS
..Im really looking forward to seeing the matchup against Ensworth. Should be a great game.
-
From what I hear MUS is going to reschedule SP and Olive Branch. Both of those teams are supposed to be stacked next year. I dont think they are going to renew their deal with White Station. Supposedly, they might get another big OOS opponent. Any word on some other possible big games next year in DII?
-
It does NOT mention teams that backed out!
All DII A2 teams have been contacted. Only teams that had interest.....Baylor, Ensworth and MBA.
This game will feature the 6A state champs Maryville, The 3A state champs Alcoa and the DII A1 state champs Webb!...........too bad all the DII A2 teams just want to TALK about being the elite teams in TN! ............
Im sure you think MUS is too scared to play you. I guess thats why they got another home and away series with South Panola. South Panola is obviously a much inferior opponent. MUS should really step up their scheduling and make it more difficult.

42-24 Brentwood Academy Final
[/quote
Great game by both teams. I kind of had a feeling BA was going to win this one big. BA looks like they might win it all this year. Good luck to BA in the rest of the playoffs.
As for MUS, I think they have a promising future ahead of them with a vast majority of the starters returning next year. Im also interested in seeing what MUS is going to do with their schedule now. Im curious if MUS is going to renew the games with SP, OB, and White station.

The new season (playoffs) starts this week.
What are your predictions or educated guesses on the DII AA playoff outcome?
Who has the easiest path to Cookeville and who has the most difficult path?
McCallie vs BC - Winner vs Baylor
SBA vs BGA - Winner vs CBHS
MBA vs Ryan - Winner vs Ensworth
BA vs JP2 - Winner vs MUS
Baylor definitely has the easiest path to the State Championship game.
-
Hopefully someone can spell out who plays who now. Tonight MBA beats Pope John Paul, Baylor beats Father Ryan, Brentwood Academy beats McCallie, Ensworth beats BGA.
It looks like MUS's first game will most likely be against BA as long as BA can win there game against the # 8 seed.
-
Final Score: 45 - 14 MUS.
BA vs. Christian Brothers
in Division II

Yes i agree. I am completely shocked by this. I am happy for CBHS though. I hope this ends up like the 2005 state championship game.. MUS vs. CBHS in the finals.
