  1. I've tried to recall if this ever happened before and we have had delays but nothing that I remember like this. You gotta remember old timer's is right around the corner so don't quote me on that. I talked to a buddy of mine who says it could come down to overall record and even total runs scored! Now that's a job for a sharp-minded individual which would eliminate a few of these young coaches! I agree with Mr. RebelsBaseball (nice picture by the way) {VolmanScott now understands my point of view} your rebel baseball coach in particular does no "grooming" and many today don't. They want talent right here right now and they don't teach a blasted thing. Over in our area, Coach Payne has a baseball facility that is really used by a lot of our players for individual work and private lessons. I understand you also have one in Kingsport but it is "OFF LIMITS" to some of your high school players. I already mentioned a friend, Coach Dave Rutherford, who was probably one of the best teaching coaches around. I ran into an old friend today and when I mentioned the cussing situation, he brought up another old Coach Johnny McKamey, over here in the East area who never and I mean NEVER used foul language to riducule, correct, or demean a player. I'd forgotten about that. I think we'll get the games in and if not, it's anybody's ball game.

BJ, Not sure why the hard feelings toward our coach, but I assure you he has brought out strengths in players I didn't think possible. Do I agree with the way some coaches use thier tactics no, but do I agree with everything my wife says either, every coach has his way of trying to motivate his players. We don't have to agree on everything but just because we deem it to be different than what we would do does that truely make it wrong? We can form your own opinions about people, but until we have walked a mile in thier shoes we have no right to judge them!

I notice you keep metioning Coach Rutherford, any relation? Dave is a fine coach and even a more outstanding individual! My dad has known Coach Rutherford for 50+ years, and has always spoke highly of him!

    Nice avitar also!

  2. So your boys are out then. What happens after they play tomorrow?

I have tried to find out and no one knows for sure. The only thing for sure is that SH is in. Who gets the second spot if anyone's guess if they do not finish it.

    Anyone know other than guessing.

What? Where did I say WE were out YET? Only if they can't get the games in, will it refer back to the two teams left in the winners bracket. The reason for the double header tomorrow is so they can eliminate two teams in one day, so if they are unable to finish this out after tomorrow, they still have thier two teams to move on. How hard is that to figure out? And the is nobody in for sure yet! The "Hill" could lose to Crockett then turn around and fall to the winner of the South/East game. Anything goes this has been one crazy year!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE BOYS PLAYING THIS GAME WE LOVE! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  3. My understanding it would be the 2 teams left in the winners bracket, once you are elimanated your out Boone is done! The "Hill" and Crockett would move on and rep the Big 9.

Kinda funny how nobody is saying anything about moving the tourney to Cardinal Park heard it was also offered, That was right before Ritz agreed to go ahead and play at Central! LOL!

And to say they should hold the districts at a location every year (unless it is a neutral site) is just plain crazy! You would be giving the host team an unfair advantage year in year out, regaurdless of whose field it was played on!

Why are we acting like this is the first time rain has ever interupted district play? Hey BJ what did they do back in the day?

One last thing you guys are giving some of these coaches way too much credit, you really think these coaches have groomed these kids to where the are now? LOL?

I got two words for you "PRIVATE LESSONS"! Atleast 60% of the kids playing have taken them! Nothing wrong with that if you wanna play bad enough and truely want to get better you have to go the extra mile!

In those famous words "Let's play two"!

  4. Look what happened to crockett, they got blasted by hilltoppers.Everybody is going to pitch #1 when he is ready to go.Especially against DB.Why is everbody worried about DB? They ain't got nothing.

My friend I think you are confusing respect with fear! Maybe some Coaches just know the rep that of all the past DB teams, so out of RESPECT they throw thier #1 (read my tag at the bottom of my post!)

But I also know that some Coaches would rather limit the times that those teams at the top see thier #1! Make sense? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

And to say they have nothing either means you don't respect them or just plain dumb!

    I'll say you are the first part of that statement! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Good luck to all teams this weekend!

    REBEL NATION!

  5. Wonder what Crockett would have done against South's #1 pitcher T.Archer? Another example of coaches wanting to beat Ritz so bad they pitch their #1 against him and concede to better teams, makes sense. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

And I guess your going to say the same about Crockett, throwing their #1 againgst South when they had "The Hill" the next night! I know a couple of kids that were glad to get to face Freeman now they have a better idea on how to approach thier next ab's against him!

I know that I would rather see those #1's though out the season so when it comes to post season I would have an idea how they are going to try and pitch me, it's alot harder to hit a #1 when you have never faced him before!

Sometimes I wonder if some of these people on here even know to play baseball! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

If I didn't know better I would think you are Coach Ritz!

DID you ever stop to think sometimes it's better if you don't let the lead dogs see your #1 until it's time! Like say the district! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

  8. Jonesy, The devil Faithful do support their Devils but they are comfort creatures as well. it was around 16-19 degrees when game ended. We are also big event people and the Greeneville faithful will be out in force next week with dual purposes. Support the Devils and to Watch Maryville in our own back yard. Cold next week but it will be 20 degrees warmer as well.

It is hard not to rip some of the posters, but the Southies have been excellent in handling their loss on here. They really are a class coaching staff and FB team.

Last night wasn't a big game? But your right the home side will be full next friday cause alot of the tri-cities football fans will be coming down, better scooter over and make some extra room! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

BTW, your band looked awesome sounded great too, nice uniforms also!

  9. There is so much to say, but at the same time I'm speechless. I'm so proud of the Devils, and I can't wait to catch the game next week when I'm home to eat turkey /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I'm sure Burley is going to be packed with fans from all across the region; it will be a great atmosphere. Just think...a couple years ago we were a losing team, the talent was there afterall just as we had all expected. Thanks Coach McCurry and staff for giving us the guidance, leadership, and having the faith and patience in us to turn things around.

And etfan...who exactlly are you a fan of? It sounds to me like you just hate the world for the most part and everyone in it. If you want you can come eat Thanksgiving dinner at my house. I promise we'll make you feel like family; hey! you may even smile. Who knows...we might even get you to laugh. Cheer up man...its the holidays. Eat some turkey and mashed taters on Thursday, watch a little Pro ball and take a nap, then come down and enjoy the game on Friday. If you hunt me down I'll even buy you a cheeseburger

    Charlie he is a vikings fan! Please forgive him! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  10. can the devils pull another upset?

I say YES, if they play with the intensity they did tonight!

On a side note to G'ville where were all your fans? I would have figured standing room only for this one!

I know I am not a Devils fan, but come on folks come out and support these kids!

  11. No, because the (our) Rebels were going to get a chance to slay the M'ville Rebels in Kingsport.

Like I said, the worst loss ever.

    Or maybe like you were saying before the South - tn.high game! If you can't be a player be a hater!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    REBEL NATION!

  12. With just a few minutes more opportunity to reflect, this is clearly NET's most devastating loss in the history of playoff football. As a Viking fan, that does not necessarily bother me but it is bigger than the normal D-B round one meltdowns - after all, in a strange way we all root for you. For every 40 - 0 third quarter score against all of the county schools, we have hope that the Rebels will represent us and that all of our pain with a playoff advance that does us proud. Since all South (and other schools) expectations all season were around hosting M'ville next week, I cannot imagine anything worse for the Rebels. Or as inexcusable.

I know the kids and parents actually involved in the South football program are devastated. I am sorry.

But, you have really let us down.

    Or perhaps 2007's FIRST ROUND LOSS TO VOLUNTEER!!!!!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  13. How can you disrespect the great game these boys played by blaming the refs....

    You are right barb!

Both teams played hard, Greeneville played a little harder! There was enough mistakes out there to pass around!

Don't tarnish a hard fought game by both teams, I am thankful to been able to watch these fine young men play a GAME they love and play it for that love!

    Good luck next week G'ville! Go get'em! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Rebs thank you for the great ride! to the seniors you guys will always be champs in the heart of this greatful fan! Good luck in every aspect of life yet to come! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14. 9 out of 10 are picking Sullivan South over Greeneville . I doubt that many

of those 9 watched the M. E. ---South game last week or they might have

a different opinion about tonight's game.

They reviewed tapes of the game last night and changed thier picks!

    Now it's 10 out of 10! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    REBEL NATION!

  15. Thats his opinion. Im sure the coach's know what its going to take to beat south. They will be ready for the passing an ground game trust me

Now you get what I was saying! Not sure about that last part though?

Good luck to both teams and hope they both have a great week of practice! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    REBEL NATION!

  16. I think what he is saying is going over your head. he is saying he is more worried about South's passing game then there ground game. make since now

Nope! No more "sense" than your other post! He was saying that HE isn't worried about South's ground game! I say GOOD! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

But I am positive that you coaching staff doesn't feel the same way!

    REBEL NATION!

  17. Term "HOMER" mean anything to you guys? Greeneville's heard that all year. Watch out for T Howell(Mo East), watch out for Keenan Shepard(THHS), Greeneville's seen and stopped alot of good backs this year(Including like I said doing a fair job on Fletcher earlier this year). He'll put up some yards but Greeneville will stop him when it matters. Like I said Fletcher is a fine back, but I'm worried more about South's passing attack.

I was going to predict South by 3, but if your coaching staff and players are drinking from the same water cooler, then I would have to say South by 14! I will give your coaching staff and team more credit than you do, South by 3!

Comp I am sure you are eating this this up and he didn't even metion bobby, WOW I would hate to be on the scout team this week! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

    REBEL NATION! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  18. You mean go to Pactolus and look for the big hole in the ground? FYI: DB has had 3 Final Four appearances in the past 10 years or did you forget that little fact.

At least we don't lose to the same team every year now do we? You are right about real football being played in Death Valley--as long as you're on the visitors side.

    At least we have a visitors side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    REBEL NATION!

  19. Great win for the Rebs. With thier backs against the wall, and never give up attitude they played thier hearts out.The goal line stance on the 6 was the play of the game. T.Fletcher proved once again, what a great back he is.Carter and staff made the adjustments in the second half (4 wide outs) that caught Morr.East. scratching thier heads. It was refreshing to watch a power team play to win.Keep it up guys. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Thanks plowboy! Your son had a great year, I am looking forward to watching him on the diamond again this year! He has such great hands his is fun to watch, just hope we don't give him too many chances to make plays against us! He is a flat out athlete! Again Thanks for you support! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  20. My pleasure, I spent $14 on tickets, $15.50 on concessions, $5 on a TSSAA Playoff Program, for a total of $34.50, and also cheered for the home team Rebels. I believe I did the best I could, mentally and fiscally, /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />.

You truely are THE TRICITIES SPORTS FAN! Safe travels to you next weekend and we will see ya at the "Burley"!
