  1. I think there is a difference in 'official games' which would make up the 18 vs. a friendly or a scrimmage which does look like is permitted in the TSSAA rules.

You get 4 scrimmages and 16 games .A tournament counts as 2. A team can play a maximum of 2 tournaments

    under tssaa rules

  2. Goodpasture NO ,but David Lipscomb , Hume Fogg and CPA along with FRA YES. I think Station Camp should

get consideration as well as Harpeth. Goodpasture's coach does not input. Its my belief that their ranking is based more upon last year. Next week they will not be there.

  3. I think I found my answer, the teams in question are all from the same district. I guess these coaches voted and think from top to bottom their district is better than the rest of the teams in the state??? But I'll let YOU (Coacht posters) be the judge....

    Region 5 District 9

    Franklin Road Acad 6-1-1

    David Lipscomb 3-2-1

    Hume-Fogg 1-0-2

    CPA 0-4-2

    DCA 0-3-0

    East Lit Magnet 0-2-0

    Ezell-Harding 0-1-0

    Goodpasture Christian 0-1-0

    MLK 1-2-0

There is no vote.In the last 5 years this district has had 2 teams go to the finals .I could be wrong but I believe they

have had a team win it 4 out of the last 5(fra-3,dca-1)but it could be 3.It is the toughest district in the state. Over the last 5 years they have had at least 5 of their teams ranked in the the top 11. As I think it has been deserving. I

    think the gap is closing.

  4. To be more specific without pulling out the TSSAA Rule Book, where there are many pages. Your team cannot play

any regular season games in between tournament games. So the three week theory is blown, especially with a ten week season

  5. What's to stop 8 teams from across the state in saying that over a 3-week period, we'll all play each other, and we do it as a "Tournament" All the games will be held at 4 different schools, with 10 different nights of games. Could I put this together under the guise of a "tournament", and only count the 8 games I played as 2 games per the tournament rule (that a tournament counts only as two games towards my 16 game limit)?

Well in this case we have a 4 day period. All tournaments have to be submitted to the TSSAA for approval under TSSAA

guidelines.TSSAA has a website where you can get this info.

  6. I could be wrong but the way I understand this poll. Is the only input by coaches is by schedule and scores.I don't think there is any voting process. Now I could be wrong but if you look at the site . Not all coaches input their info. Now I do

know the coach at Smyrna started this site years ago. From what I understand he has been coaching in Tennessee for many years. He has been one of the many individuals to bring high school soccer to the forefront in the state of Tennessee. It seems a little bias to some. He does know a lot of coaches in the state, especially from the premier programs in the state because most of them have been the same through the years. Polls are polls and soccer is becoming more mainstream. Teams have to raise their level of play to be with the elite. Coaches have to become

more involved with the process. Then we might have more of a legitimate poll but we will always have someone to complain.

  7. A tournament counts as two games no matter how many you play. This tournament each team plays 3 games and a

possible finals game (depending on your points) being your 4th game. Per TSSAA rules you are allowed 4 scrimmages,

16 games, and 2 tournaments per season. Now If you have a jv team, your jv scrimmages can count towards your varsity if your jv team plays a scrimmage in the specified time frame that is designated for scrimmages by the TSSAA.So you do not want to play a jv scrimmage. The rule has more specifics but your jv does not need to play a scrimmage.Since it is just a building tool for the varsity (PROGRAM) anyway. However there is no limits to how many jv games you can schedule during season. You have playdates, scrimmages and schedule ,then post season. And rules

    to define each one.
