  1. See what I mean. Not even a Owl's message board and look at them. Good luck SD.

Anybody else smell a rat on this board?

I have heard that the boys are really taking this game seriously, as they should. There are no easy games from here on out.

    Go Owls!!!

P.S. For all of the Farragut fans who have been respectful, I do not hold you all in the same light as the few outspoken ones. And yes, Ooltewah has there's as well.

  2. No I mean Ooltewah fans.....It's apparent that you guys think you have it in the bag. So go to your H'ween parties, theirs no reason for Ooltewah fans to show up for the game. Remember, it's in the bag. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Bless your soul MVM, you are the only true Soddy fan. I hope you all have more show up on Friday, after all... we brought bus loads to Soddy last year.

    Go Owls!!!

  3. Looking forward to seeing what the Owls will do this Friday at home. I think the coaches have done a better job utilizing our strengths in our last several games. They look more like a cohesive group on the sidelines now and the boys really look motivated. Congrats to #17 on having a huge running game Friday night. I think with confidence and being a little more patient like against Farragut, will allow him to utilize that big arm. Go Owls and let the defector know he made a HUGH mistake.

  4. No, and I believe it actually brought the team together. A shame as one of them had big time college potential. The defense stepped it up and actually became better.

Glad to hear these guys came together as a team. Good luck with your first round playoff game and I am glad to see you all will still be on our schedule. I really enjoy seeing your mascot run down the field like Florida State with the spear.

  5. Lose the pride OR, THE TALENT ISNT HERE! Its very clear a bunch of players daddy,s are upset. Face it, the kids dont have the talent to play in this region!

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you on that statement. Number 4 is as good of a player with the ball as I have seen this year. Number 11 should have been called on to run the ball more often. If you did nothing more than lined #4 in the backfield to take a direct snap, they would have done more than they did. There were more that did good things on a bad night last Friday. Play calling was not good with the talent they had on the field. I am sure OR will return to a powerhouse program in the coming years with a new coach. It really saddened me to see how far this program has fallen. I counted 12 kids in the student section on Senior night. These ball players on OR deserve more than they are getting.

I have been an Owl faithful for over 20 years and I do not even have a dog in the hunt nor did I go there for high school. But I follow and support these kids. They were 2-8 when I first started going to their games.

  6. Careful AdmiralDude, most of the people doing the comments did not graduate from Ooltewah and are by NO means the norm or typical Ooltewah citizen. Ooltewah as a whole has a lot of respect for Farragut and the program that they have built. It is ALWAYS one of the highlights to the season no matter which of the teams win.

    Farragut 28

    Go Owls!

  7. I do have some nominations from Ooltewah:

    LINE: #67 Que Jackson, 6', 240, Senior, DT & OL - in 7 games (8 weeks) 33 tackles (18 for loss), 8.5 sacks 17 QB hurries.

LINE: #36 Jacquez Smith, 6'3. 235, Junior DE & TE - 7 game totals, 50 tackles (20 for a loss of 121 yards), 8 sacks, 19 QB hurries and 3 passes defended, also 3 receptions for 37 yards.

    KICKER: #16 John Long, 6' 175, Junior K/P - 8 for 8 on field goals (long of 44, 3 for 3 on 40+), 28 of 29 on extra points, hit 28 of 45 kickoffs for touchback, 22 punts for 35.1 average, 6 inside of 20.

Thanks for the consideration, Coach T and any others with a Mr. Football ballot. I plan to update after each of the remaining games

All of the above deserve serious consideration. Also John Long has a high GPA.

  8. Great job Owls!

To all of the Farragut fans that showed class... MOST.. I wish you well. You have a good team, they just didn't get a chance to get in rythmn. It happens to the BEST of teams.

To FarragutUniversity... You are a TOTAL disgrace to the team you pull for.

#46 for Farragut - You showed a lot of class last night after the game. It was great to see you hugging your counterpart who you obviously had a lot of battles with Friday night. You sir... show alot of class.

To all who are BASHING the Farragut coach... I have A LOT of respect for a coach who takes up for the safty of his players. I don't care if it is our coach or their coach. He did NOT give any bad gessters to coach Monroe. He looked like he wanted to shake his hand because his beef was not with Benny. The refs missed MANY calls BOTH ways. We had one roughing the passer called on #34 when he was HELD by a Farragut lineman and rolled into the QB in the beginning of the 4th quarter I believe it was.

Why did Farragut not sub in the last five minutes of the game? Ooltewah subbed their players out (total shock) and it was nice to get to cheer #36 as he left with a standing ovation. I wish they would have subbed #17 Brady out before we ran out of time so that the crowd could have given him his due applause. He has struggled all year but had a great game when we needed him most.

Again... Congrats Owls, I will see you in Oak Ridge.

  9. 3-5-3 is to confuse the offensive lineman and QB play. Just letting everyone know why FHS runs a 3-5-3 D against the spread offense and it is also used to show it has a weakness too. The Owl fans should know that the AD's will bring the house on just about every play from scrimmage until they respect the pass. FHS QB Play is quick and on-time 1 step and throw, 3 step and throw, and 5 step and throw. GET THE HANDS UP D! VAN Dyne #1 Target 30 completions, Evans #2 20 Completions, and #3 Allen with 17 completions out of 102 completions they have a total of 67. Reese has attempted 159 with 3 INT's very smart and accurate QB. I am thinking Bump coverage to throw off timing patterns this could give our D line and LB more time to force a mistake which so far he does not make many. DB's need to play smart and FS smarter.(Bat arm hook arm and highest point and DONT get Beat DEEP) If a LB hesitates on the run and its a Pass it will have a high possible chance of being completed to 1 of 5 Different receivers over the middle, QB will be reading LB's on play action to the RB. Everyone Play with Heart and Pride and Stay healthy. Good Luck to Both Teams Friday and the rest of the season. Let??™s have 2-5A State Champion.............................................Go Owls!

Good post Sarge. I have wondered all season why we do not play the bump and run coverage. We have the fastest defensive backs in the state (per the last state track meet). If we did this then it would give plenty of time for our front four to reach the QB and put on a big hit. A rattled QB is an ineffective QB. I have read on here that the Farragut QB does not run so we really need to apply quick pressure early. I am looking forward to Friday night and I expect it to be a great CLOSE game. Win or lose... I think the Region 2-5A champ will come out of this game. Sorry Soddy... you all have done well but you have not faced these two monsters yet.

    Go Owls!!!

  10. What scares me a little bit in this game is the starters have only played 4 quarters against William Blount, and McMinn County. The other games they were done before half time against Bradley, and the rest of the game some was out in the 3 quarter and none played in the 4 quarter.

That should not scare you as much as having your starters stay in the game through its entirety all game long every game. If a starter goes down, then you have a player with NO or LITTLE experience going in to replace them. This is not the game to break in a rookie if a starter goes down.

I think the admirals have a more complete package but I think Ooltewah will prevail because of heart, desire, and of course the home field advantage.

    Go Owls!!!

Is it just me or does this thread seem a little quite by other Owl fans?

  11. Tpoole... you gave your prediction... or analysis for the Ooltewah vs. Farragut game and now I will give mine for your game against McMinn Co. To sum it up quickly.... McMinn Co. has some good players but so does WB. The difference in this game is heart and desire. Advantage... William Blount

WB takes it to the house this week with a 14 point win. This win is way past due for the boys and fans of WB.

  12. Tpoole said it best..........gotta be balanced on offense. It ll be a good game, but it should be the the Owls hands down if they could utilize their athletes instead of catering to their weakness. I dont know if there s a answer for the offense busting it wide open but at least they could try and give some different looks. I ll say it s a toss up and somebody will win with the kicking game late.

I think Coach Monroe needs to try something different this week. I do not think we can win by going to the air with our current situation. The vision is not there and when you stare at the receiver you going to throw it too every time, then you will get picked off. The sideline 2 yard pass is a dangerous pass these days as seen by every opponent playing us tight at the line of scrimmage knowing we can throw it down field but we only complete about 5% of those. If this short pass is picked off, then it will be taken to the house. I would like to see us take a chapter out of UT's playbook and go with #5 and try the running game with multiple threats. What do we have to lose? Our current game plan relies on our defense to score, and that will not be good enough against Farragut.

T Poole is right about two many players going both ways. I say play the two way players where we need them most and try to get more athletes into the game. From what I have seen this past week... we have them but they are seldom used.

Go Owls... I will be keeping my fingers crossed and hope we can pull out a squeaker.

  13. Actually, the second string had came in before that.,.beginning of the 3rd qtr.Williams#2 had two good runs(thought he got in on 2nd rush), Manning#5(qb)ran a sneak for a couple of yds.for the TD.Then all,(but 2 or 3)came in on defense,Manning had a good punt return, then Greene#29 took it to the house for about 60 yds.the backup kicker even kicked the extra point. Overall, Polk looked very, very good. The OFFENSIVE line looked AWESOME!!!!,The Defense were animals(burruoghs was on a mission, tonight),he scored our first TD and laid the wood 2 or 3 times!!!Smith had double digit tackles, again.Patty did his workmen like duties again, tonight.Hydas did well and so did Mayfield from safety.ALL n ALL,owls looked good.Hope,we can handle The ADs next friday? No biggy here, but our fans we're not very excited tonight.I guess,it was a lack-luster game.Better bring it next friday.

I call second string when there are NO starters on the field. That did not happen until there was only 5 minute left in the game. That was when they scored their last touchdown on their first play. Never the less... they finally took out all starters in a run away game.

  14. Great night for Polk. He ran the ball well. Offensive line controlled all night long. And how about the second team Offense. A 55 yard TD on their first play. I was glad to see after a score of 45-6 they finally put them in. I was crossing my fingers that non of the starters would go down when they should have been out. I thought #5 and #19 for Heritage did as good of a job as they could do to make some positive yards. All in all... I don't think Heritage has the same level of athletes across the board. Here is a question for a Heritage fan. Do you all lose good players to Maryville? and if you are a big school, why do you only have 8 cheerleaders? I will say this for Heritage... their fans pulled and rooted for their team all night long no matter the score. The poeple there in the stands are true fans... and parents.

    Good Job Owls.

  15. I agree that our Offensive line is not the problem. We have moved the ball well when keeping it on the ground. Polk is a very good running back but he has not broken tackles as well as Marshall, Caldwell and of course... the master...Flannigan. Flannigan use to shake several guys before he even got started. I think we just need to have more lead blocking form the backfield along with more misdirection play calling. Our line has gotten the job done this season when called on. The problem is our defense is on the field way to much because of change in what is working on offense. A successful air assault will allow our running game to have bigger runs. But until we get that going, we will have to settle for longer drives with shorter run gains. Even Bradley knew they could cover our passing game with only 2 or 3 defenders.

Would love to see more players get a chance, but it is not Monroe's style to give playing time to backups no matter the score as proved last Friday night when I think I counted 3 non-starters getting a chance after being up 31-3 for almost a quarter.

    Go Owls!!!

  16. Alright Owls... it is going to be another long trip for the Ooltewah faithful, let's see you bring it and bring it often. Can't wait to see who Heritage is going to kick off too. So far we have had touchdown runs from everyone except the front line... and that is because they have not had their chance yet.

With all that has been said on this thread, I think if double teaming happens, which ANYBODY who watches film will know they will have to do, then look for #44 to have a breakout game on defense as well as the regulars. I am not sure if the Owls have EVER had a stronger defensive front line than #36, #44, #67 and #34.

    GO OWLS!!!

  17. IM actually gonna go with the GOvs on this one , by 7, its all about the heart and love for the game , i think they can bring it friday

I am going to have to agree with this guy. OR has too many distractions and WB is really hungry. Look for the Govs to win by 14.

  18. Winless Schools:

Sullivan Central - They will always have problems being near DB and Sullivan South who will get the better athletes.

Brainerd - Has the athletes but must be more disciplined. (Have not seen them this year but that is their past problem.)

William Blount - This team DOES NOT even BELONG with this group. Great YOUNG team. Watch out next season. In any other region they are probably a front runner.

    One Win Schools:

Chattanooga Central - Must be able to keep their good feeder players from going to Ooltewah.

Heritage - Won't know till Friday night when Ooltewah comes knocking. Go Owls!!!

  19. Now let me tell you about a true star. We had a girl blow her ACL out in the first minute of an eight minute show. To make sure she did not let down her fellow students she finished the show and had to be carried off the field directly to the hospital where she was put in an air cast.

Sorry to hear about the girl's misfortune and way to go with winning the competition. Hopefully you all will put on a whole show at home for the Ooltewah crowd. For some reason it just seems like every year the band gets farther and farther away from performing at football games. I guess that is a director decission. I know they work hard to get ready for competitions, it is ashamed they don't get to show off their hard work on Friday nights. Glad to hear there will be a pep band going to Heritage. It just adds to the overall atmosphere of high school football.

As far as the two posters below you... no doubt any school that has enough students to be 5A should have plenty of talent to choose from. Ooltewah is blessed as most of our bench could probably start on other teams(so I hear... they do not ever go in though so I wouldn't really know) but we have yet to put together a complete game package.

Hopefully we will see a good game Friday night... gas is too high to travel that far and not have a good game.

    GO OWLS!

  20. HornedOwl... Will the band be coming to Heritage? What was up with the second quarter arrival Friday night?

Did anyone else feel Bradley conceded the game at the begining of the 3rd quarter? They took #5 out from running back and only used one man to cover two receivers. Hopefully this week we will air it out long at least once during the game.

Go Owls.. I'll be there. Any suggestions on where to eat before the game?
