I'll tell you what, I have got $1,000 dollars ( 10 -$100 bills) that say Alcoa beats Milan.......... U WANT SOME?????????????????????

You must not have a job, money these days is to hard to get, and you're willing to throw it away on a HS football game. GO DAWGS! If Mayville wins and by some chance Milan wins, does that make MILAN the best in Tennessee high school football?

  2. Im ready to watch some FOOTBALL! "SMASHMOUTH FOOTBALL". I got to stop reading these threads... lol....like that's possible. You guys and gals really crack me up sometimes. Hope everyone remains calm when the storm passes after the MILAN Bulldogs take a bite outta some Alcoa butt....I can stilll dream. Can't I? Sure hope it comes true. Stranger things have happened in my lifetime. We put a man on the Moon, I even eat brussel sprouts once. Heck, I even tried chittlins and survived. I just wanna get there and get on with it.

    GO DAWGS:shock:

  3. Regarding out of distrct, I don't know about Alcoa but I believe Milan's situation is a little more complicated than the policy referred to previously indicates. Milan is in a county of less than 50,000 with 7 special school districts. It has been complicated by lawsuits filed by various districts in the area to prevent flight from their district. So depending on which district the student is coming from they may have to get permission from the other district before they can move to your district. You would have to spend some time here to understand just how complicated and difficult the whole process can be. I think some of the sentiment you hear about regarding the perceived advantage you have in Alcoa stems partly from the abnormal amount of success you have had, partly from the perception that you have a huge population base to "recruit" from being a suburb of knoxville, Anyway I will be at the game Friday because I know we have a chance. It is not the first time that we have not been favored to win. In fact I don't recall us ever being favored to win the state. And as unimpressive as it may sound we have won it 4 times previously. Go Dogs!

Durn Skippy!!! and may just win it again. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!

  4. It is not only poor sportmanship but also bush league. It shows "NO" class on the part of the band director and if they won't stop doing it, they should not be allowed to play at all.

Get real folks...these are kids...playing for kids. Are you trying to tell me that what they learn in athletics is any more important than what the kids learn in the band. If it were a problem for the football players i am sure something would have already been done about it. I think it's maybe someone not being able to hear a conversation going on between people who aren't even interested in the game anyway. Just my opinion.

  5. Maybe it's just me, but I have noticed this year at home games that a few of Maryville's opponent's bands have been playing during the time we were running plays on offense -

Oak Ridge's band played through the entire first through third quarters, finally stopping when Maryville had the game in hand..

I didn't notice this again until we played Dobyns-Bennett in the first round of the playoffs. Their band played very loudly ONLY we we had the ball. In fact, they didn't even play during halftime. Their only apparent reason for being there, was to try to disrupt our offense. That didn't exactly workout for them!

Then the same thing occured during the Riverdale game last Friday - any time our offense was near the band's side of the field, their band played as loudly as they could while we were running plays. It wasn't a very effective strategy for them either...

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think this is very poor sportmanship...you don't see bands doing this at the college and pro levels. I hate trying to pass rules to solve every problem, but maybe it's time the TSSAA regulates this before it gets out of hand....

Let's stop the Cheerleaders form leading cheers when the teams are in the huddle also, and cheering right in front of me, when i get stuck sitting on the bottom row. lol. :roflol:

  6. You folks keep saying how much better Milan is this year ! ALCOA is a much better team this year than last year . ALCOA has so much depth and they are a complete team , no "Big I's" & little "U's" . They are a much better disciplined team and a very well coachedtea ! Let's get it on !!!!!! I want to see Milan stop the mighty TORNAOES !!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT !

I've seen both teams this year!(Alcoa twice & Milan twice) Milan is better than last year and Alcoa looked as good as they were last year. That's why they are playing each other again this year. They both have good programs & KNOW HOW TO WIN. Knowing how is just part of it. Action speaks louder than the words written on these message boards. I also want to see Milan stop the mighty Alcoa.

    GO DAWGS....MOVE THOSE CHAINS!!!!!!!!!!! :roflol:

  7. Well here's what I think(for whatever it's worth). I have seen both teams play this year. Saw Alcoa beat CAK twice and went to Milan(back home) to see The DAWGS blow out the other teams. Milan has the best kicking game I have ever seen in high school football. If it comes down to the kicking game I pick Milan.

Milan runs and passes pretty darn good, and has a great defense against the run or the pass. I didn't see Alcoa pass that much, to have a good assesment about it being good or bad. They didn't have to pass. They bring it right at you(very well). Both teams, if they bring their "A" game and don't turn it over, got a shot.

I don't think Alcoa is as good as last year and Milan is better than last year, but that don't matter. What matters is what they leave on the field. This is for the State Championship and I think both teams are winners. Hope everyone has a safe trip and are ok with the outcome. This is why they play the game! :bored:

  8. I have been sitting here thinking for a little while and i just can't think of the last

time that Rockwood or Harriman have not advanced to the sub-state game. I know when

I played from 01-05 for Rockwood that we made it every year. And before that, we were

always there. I'm not sure how many times Harriman has made it but it has been for as long

as i can remember that if Rockwood did not make the sub-state, then harriman did. I hate

it that both of these teams got put out, but i do like to see that Wartburg and Coalfield

are getting a chance to do something. If anyone can tell me when the last time this has

happened please post it for me. And congrats to all the Seniors from Rockwood and Harriman

on great careers and good luck in your future.

  9. Well here I sit after reading most of these pages. I live here in East Tennessee and know for a fact that here lately, during regular season, the competition in AA football for Alcoa has been has been very poor. Alcoa is very good. the state championships vouch for it. I am a Milan fan from way back, and have seen them play several games this year, including the last two playoff games. Yes, it's worth traveling 300 miles to see. Both teams better bring their "A" game. I haven't seen Alcoa play this yr. but I know that all the AA teams that they play during regular season are alot weaker than they are. That being said, I am predicting Milan, because i do believe this is

the "Year of the Dawg" I think the difference will be a feild goal, and Milan has heck of a kicker. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    See yall at the game /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

  10. I can't wait to see this one. Traveling all the way from East TN, a trip back home is always worth it. Can't wait to eat some of that bar b que /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> . Hope to be there for the pep ralley too. I'm gonna say the DAWGS win in a close one, maybe even a last second field-goal. They're good at that. A win is a win.

    GO DAWGS /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  11. Okay Milan...here ya go again.

We'll see Friday night, but so far you haven't proven very much this season...at least Humboldt took on Giles County (who beat their opponent by 46 points last Friday) and lost by only 8. Meanwhile, Milan lost to Huntingdon who were since stomped by Dyer Co & barely got by Bruceton), then beat Gibson County 27-0, and since then Gibson County was embarrassed by TCA 48 to 7. Point being, Milan isn't exactly destroying any strict opponents. So it may be a good idea for the Bulldog faithful to be cautious about their 'predictions' for this week---otherwise next week you'll have to disappear from the board while you lick your wounds.

Destroying your opponent isn't what puts up numbers in the win column. winning on the scoreboard does that, and I think the Dawgs will be 4 and 0 after this one. Dawgs win 21 to 13. Go DAWGS!!!!

  12. I was at the Milan and Camden game and it was awesome. My first cousin is married to the "BoneMan"

I came out last year to watch Milan vs Humbolt, in a playoff game and hope to come back out next week for this match-up. btw,,,the longest running rivalry in Tennessee is Rockwood vs Harriman.

    Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!

  13. The Rockwood band is looking good and sounding better and better! Glad to see more interest. I'm an old band alumni and I really like the way they get behind the ball team all the way! Good pep section. Keep up the good work.

    GO TIGERS!

  14. Wheres the game @? I love this rivalry, I dunno if its an Auburn-Georgia old rivalry, but I bet this 1 goes way back. Approximately, how far are these schools from each otha? From wut I hear, Harriman has the athletes, Rockwood is more physical and solid. Should be a good 1 in Roane County.

This is a great game always and the rivalry goes back about 75-80 years. Goose done a story about it in the Roane County News a few years ago. Maybe he'll run it again this week! Should be a good game. Seems the teams and fans really get into it!

Good Luck! Gotta pick the Tigers. Once a Tiger always a Tiger
