  1. "If you really want to argue with Memphis talent being the best, why don't you argue them against every city/town in every other state in the nation"

Memphis is a top 3-5 city in the nation in terms of HS Basketball talent top to bottom, period. That was easy.

  2. Interested in the fact that you played school sports for 12 years? You bound to have some state records.

On the score issue. There is never, never, never, a reason to beat a team by 100pts. Absolutely outrageous. My Jr and Senior year of baseball we anted to beat two schools by 20 runs when we played them because they did it to us as freshman. However, the thing that our coach made us understand was that we wouldnt be beating the same kids that beat us by 20. So as for the what goes around comes around, that is not relevant. because if you try to beat a team later on like they done you in the past chances are you are doing it to different kids. If a high school team scores 100 they have to really be trying to do so, slowing down at no point in the game. If a team beats you by 100 they have no decency.

But here is the thing.. The kids do not know.. any kid in that situation would try to win by 100 if the possibility was there. the issue is that the coach tried to do so, and that the principle or someone didnt slide over to the coach and put a stop to it about the end of the 3rd quarter.\

Dont bash the kids about it, but the coach should face some consequences. I would like to see TSSAA step in on an extreme case such as this one

I played sports k-12, at a small private school, TCA, smart aleck. Find something better to do with your time than pick through someone's post and make up some pathetic insult in return without putting any real thought into what you are actually typing, move on, I'm hopeful that you have more important things to invest your time in than kicking this dead horse.

  3. What about the fact U LIED when u said they didnt press the whole Game. U SIR, are the LIAR!!! I have called a couple of my friends out that way and they have confirmed U are a LIAR. BTW did press and did have at least 2 starters in at the end and they were laughing and pointing at the other team. U ARE A LIAR!!!!

You my friend, need to take a chill pill. I dare say the teens from the opposing team weren't near as upset as you've been the past several days. And on record, I played sports for a small, undersized, undermanned school for 12 years, and in that time I took a lot of beatings very similar to this one, but when that changed, and the athletic program was successful, it was because of those losses and it made it that much sweeter to finally win. Look at carrol academy's records they take beatings year in year out in every single sport and I have not once seen you on here launching scathing diatribes against their opponents, with that, seriously, everyone should move on.

  4. If you mean by "hostile enviroment" that Scotts Hill fans would greatly outnumber BTW fans, and would loudly cheer for our team, you hit the nail on the head!If you imply anything else...specificly if you're hiding the ace of race up your sleeve getting the nerve up to play it,DON'T EVEN GO THERE.Scotts Hill is not afraid to go to Memphis, been there-done that.Probably been to seven or eight gyms in Memphis and have never been treated with anything but respect,City U and Manassas being the most recent.I've been reading your posts for a long time on here Pioneer, and held as much respect for your opinions as anyone. In one obvious knee jerk post you've destroyed all credability I had for you with the racial undertone displayed through your post.

I'll vouch for GC on this one, having played quite a few games at Scotts Hill, and it is what I would consider a "hostile" environment. I don't mean that in a negative or slanderous way, it's just true. Anyone of your district rivals will tell you that. I know exactly what you immediately assumed he was inferring and I can tell you that was certainly not the intention of his post.

  5. UNDERFUNDED???? Are you kidding me. before u say crap like that u really should know the facts. I looked them up so I will enlighten u with them. The Volunteer state spends on average 7987.00 per student, the national average is 10,499.00 per and MEMPHIS SPENDS 10,677.00 per student. In comparison, Utah spends 6300.00 per. With that said, again, this thread wasnt about Memphis, Its about BTW, and them running up the scores on inferior opponants and there arrogant fans, coaches and administration allowing it to happen! I was coming home from the West/Marville game last night(or should I say Knoxville West), and a TSSAA commercial came on the radio and talked about how HS sports instills, integrity, citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, as well as life skills. How does beating a team 149-23, and in 3 games beat them by an average of over 110 per game, do any of these things that commercial talked about? Theres no way in the world You or anybody else can convince me with a running clock from the second qtr. on, they did not set out to humiliate and embarrass this poor team! EVER!!! Thats The argument here not Memphis. The more I talk about this the madder I get, Heck, I might start a campaign to get this jerk fired and the AD removed! This is Uncalled for, Its high school kids!

While you're campaigning, go check out the conditions at Manassas, Melrose and Overton and get back with me on that bud.

  7. Well technically, I guess i was generous when I said Memphis, I mean when marryville wins 7 straight championships or Alcoa wins 88 games in a row people around here dont say" KNOXVILLE has won all these championships", I mean those are Maryville's not knoxville's, so some of those schools may not even be in Memphis for all I know. U know what I Mean? Again this was about BTW,not Memphis, and we all have a general concensus that there OVERRATED!! And now that ive really looked at it, Memphis Bball may be a bit overrated too. looks like the rest of the state is holding their own. .You know I think its inbeded in our minds really. Think about it, when that area wins a championship they list them as Memphis melrose, memphis white station, memphis ridgway, memphis this and that. We dont say Knoxville Alcoa, or Knoxville maryville, I guess if we did, people would always think of this area alot better. LOL

Those schools are in fact in memphis, and based on your logic of proximity, both Liberty and Bolivar should be included in your count( not true) which would up the total by a lot, which I'm sure you are aware of. To say that the talent of basketball in Memphis is overrated is honestly one of the most insane things I've heard in awhile. Look at national recruiting and team rankings for the next few years and you'll notice that Memphis comes up quite a bit. Memphis is one of the top HS basketball cities in the country, not just the state, it doesn't take much more than common sense to recognize that.

  8. Yes, Westwood is another that would likely be in AA if the realignments were done more than every four years, around 550 now. Compare that to Perry and Wayne County, about 340 each.

"And their other losses came before they acquired their starting 5. 3 of their starters weren't even on the team during the first semester"

    That's a very revealing statement.

You've got to be kidding me.... Do you think that underfunded inner city Memphis schools have the time or staff to "recruit"? :bored: What a joke. This has turned into a slander fest focused on Memphis schools.

  9. I get so tired of this so called not being professional, no class etc....Blah, Blah, Blah. First of all Coacht strength of schedule is not a good measuring point. It's based on wins and losses. It doesn't take into consideration out of state opponents etc. boys basketball is better/stronger in West TN #fact Some of the teams that I've seen play in Middle and East Tn, don't have the skill set of a high school team/player. It simply wouldn't matter if JV played or not, some teams are just that bad. So what do you do, tell a kid to quit, when he is taught to give his all or get benched. I don't think so. It's good to get beat bad sometimes, it should teach a child to try harder, I would tell my kid this same exact thing. Some Parents coddle kids entirely too much. I'm not saying that Booker T. Washington is going to win the A gold ball, because they don't have a good coach. But the gold ball will come back to West TN.

    All fact

  10. Are u serious? LOL. I give you a breif synopsis of my background, and then you can see if you think I know what talent is? I played HS BBall, Played College BBall, Coached AAA BBAll at the highest levels, and refereed for over 25 years! Reffed the state tourny twice. My son Played 4 years of college BBall and is currently a successful AAA BBall coach that is on his way to the regional tourny, My daughter is a DI golfer and my my wife was an Awsome Cheeleader for all of us! LOL,Now, I think I know what pure talent is ok? I am saying that your coach and the AD there should at the very least, be called on the carpet and told that this is not in the spirit of TSSAA sports and if weve already beaten this team twice by 100 points, maybe we should just move the JV team up for one night and take it easy on them. I have looked at your schedule and according to CoachT, its the 107th toughest schedule in the state, so its not like youve played, Seigal, Oak Ridge, Karns, Stone memorial, Alcoa, etc.... People just dont respect you guys, plain and simple. I think you will find theres talent in Nashville, Knoxville, and Johnson city before the years over. I hope I can recognize talent when that happens.

I agree that we have a lot to be proud of concerning the overall level of talent in TN high school basketball, but it is absolutely absurd to think that the level of talent across the state is on par with Memphis. It really isn't even close, I have no dog in this fight but you have to realize that Memphis is top to bottom one of the best basketball cities in the US, period, and while it's not near as apparent in the lower classifications, the teams you mentioned ( Siegel, Oak Ridge, Alcoa, etc.) would get destroyed in Memphis

  11. I've never under any circumstance made a notion that this PC team even came close to the talent of the 97' team. BTW has proved nothing so far, they've beat the same team by 100+ 3 different times. But they haven't beat everyone on their schedule like that so that doesn't show me how good they are it shows me how terrible Power Center is. Apparently Power Center doesn't have an athlete in the school no matter the gender cause I also noticed their girls got beat 68-16 as well. WHEN BTW beats someone of note let me know and I might give them a nod, until then they are a #1 team with a 106th strength of schedule.

Is edging out wins against JCS and Riverside and losing to Hardin County "of note"?

  12. I have to take up for my area team on this. The TSSAA set the rules for classifications. SM played in the classification according to those rules. They are 2A State Champs. Quit with the sour grapes already. The 1A State Champs SP Pirates played them to the wire and came about as close as anybody (along with FC and TC) to beating them (and mercy ruled them last year). We are playing them again for the next 2 years even though they are 3A size playing up in 4A. Congratulations to Trinity for making it to the championship game and getting a silver ball but just so you will know the lowly 1A Pirates would have mercy ruled ya'll too as well as FC or TC!!! East TN football is THE BEAST!!!

Ha my true affiliations are with Texas high school football, if you think East Tn football is "beast" you are way off point. In terms of the nation, East Tn is very average at best

  13. According to some people....it doesnt matter if a smaller school is playing a large school....you've just gotta play who's next. It shouldnt matter any...none...nada...zilch....if the school you're playing is much larger than you are. I'm not necessarily saying that, but there are some people in coach T who will say that. Soooo...it doesnt matter if Signal Mtn. is 2 times as big as yall. Yall should be able to beat them anyway!

    ;) at.

Signal is great. But not for a 4a team. And I mean that. It would be a really good idea for signal to stick around and watch what's coming
