  1. I don't understand how someone who has lost the past three state championships can talk any trash?

Hey little QuarterMac, that is what this Message Board is for. Its a free country, God Bless America! We are confident and believe in our team, if you don't like it, go away.

Its a new year and a new game. Goodpasture is going to do their best to try and get the Gold Ball.

    GO COUGARS

  2. Good, because we have just as much right to talk smack and brag as you do. This Friday Goodpasture plays Alcoa for the 3A Championship! I don't care what your team did last year.

Alcoa fans may not want to watch because this is the year they lose.

  3. I think this will be a fine game. I have watched all of GP's games and this team has alot of character and guts. Yes they are big and fast but their heart and desire to win has been the difference between this team and past GP teams. I wouldn't bet against them so easily. They respect their opponents and the game should be alot of fun.

I agree CPHAGER, this team has alot of character and guts. They have a special brotherhood and play for each other. I truly believe Alcoa is in for a surprise.

  4. Genius. We're dealing with geniuses here. (He does bare a striking resemblance to Buddy the Elf, though, doesn't he?)

You're right about one thing, though:

"To be the best, you have to beat the best."

    Won't happen this year.

    GO TORNADOES!

Your obviously one of the Middle School kids. I just have too much respect for our Coach. I don't find your cartoons amusing. We are taking the State Championship serious, not going to play childlike games with you.

  5. First, Congratulations Cougars! I thought the Milan fans were great. I know the Milan fans were angry because the refs did not see you trying to call timeout. There were some missed calls both ways but not even refs are perfect. Every School has a couple bad eggs that can cause them to get a bad rep., sorry the wrong fan got thrown out. I hope everyone made it home ok or decided to stay and relax. Good Luck next year.

  6. Hey Singjuice, I just pulled up hotel options in Goodlettsville. There's a Marriott Courtyard at 865 Conference Drive. Conference Drive is right by Rivergate Mall. I wouldn't suggest anything on Dickerson Road near Goodpasture. FB Girl and others might have more suggestions. Be safe with your family coming in.

The Marriott Courtyard in Goodlettsville was just built this year, very nice. I would recommend this hotel too. I checked room rates $99 for 2 queens on Friday night. It is only 2 exits further North off 65. Take 65 North exit Long Hollow Pike make right go to Conference Drive make right..up on left. There is a Shoneys, Waffle House, and Cracker Barrel on same street.

I think there is also a Days Inn and Red Roof Inn on the same street.

  7. GP had great practices all week despite the rain. To all the Milan players, coaches, fans, etc. HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL OF US AT GOODPASTURE! I know there is no where else you would rather be on Friday than a football game. HAVE A SAFE TRIP OVER, GOD BLESS!

    Go Cougars!

  8. Goodpasture is very balanced. I think that is the difference with this team. In the past, the Cougars would have a dynamic back, with a below average passing game. This year they have a solid running game, with a very good passing game. It starts with #3. He can scramble and pass. He has two excellent wide receivers, #14 who is more of a possesion receiver, and #9 who is a fast deep threat. I totally disagree with you about #3 and his passing yards. Quite the opposite, There has been several games this year when Goodpasture could have run it up, but Coach Martin threw it into neutral and stopped passing. All of there high scoring games this year are when they put the second string in and they kept running the ball and scoring. Goodpasture does have more of a power game this year because of there offensive line. They are very big. There O-line probably averages about 270 to 273 across the line. Both of there offensive tackles are over 315. #54 (6'1" -315lbs) #72 (6'2" -265lbs) and #55 (6'6" - 325lbs) are tough in the trenches. They have a big, athletic tight end #15, and they have debth at fullback. It is hard to play Goodpasture because of that balance. They will run straight at you, then go over top in the passing game. And if eveyone is covered, you better have a spy back there watching #3 because he will take off and run. The two fastest players on there team are #22 and #9. The dont run alot of mis-direction with there speed guys, they just run it at you, then throw it over you. I wish they would get those two players involved more in mis-direction plays.

I agree NEEDFORSPEED, #9 Troy Nichols & #22 Mitchell Martin would be dangerous with mis-direction.

  9. So far I have read alot on this thread about past history with these two teams. The last time we played Our Seniors were Sophomores. Don't expect to think for a minute that you will see the same game as in 2008. You are in for a surprise! I'm not one to give away our ammo so don't expect me to elaborate. I'm glad there is no school this week so the teams have time to rest and play each other at their best. It's going to be a great game.

  10. Buster - I agree that GP has always been known for their strength/power run game. I would hope they have more in the stable than the jet sweeps of the past. I seem to remember a freshman QB they had in 2008 and he was athletic for sure. I think he had enrolled either that year or as an eighth grader. Is he still the QB? GP will have limited success IMO. The Dawgs front 7 are playing the best they have all year and that would mean they are very tough. GP usually didn't pass much in the past but that might have changed? Our secondary is all 3 yr starters so I feel good about those matchups. Not for sure about the GP Defense, we have struggled on offense for parts of the season. Milan has alot of weapons and when they are on along with our defense I like our chances. :thumb:

    Gonna be fun.........

Yes, we still have Keenan Reynolds as a quarterback, he was a freshmen when he started against you in 2008.
