  1. Dear FactsOnly;

Although I do not post often, I do read and enjoy reading your fact-filled posts. Here are some facts you might find interesting that I learned this afternoon from a friend of mine who coaches in Memphis. (it takes a couple of days for news to travel from Memphis up here to the 'Boro) According to my coaching friend from Memphis, a certain star player on Ridgeway's team was arrested this past Thursday night over a misunderstanding stemming from a dice game. The player alledgedly beat up another kid on Thursday night and the mother of that kid had him arrested. Some how this player was allowed to play against Dyer Co. Without naming names of kids accused of crimes, I will just say that this player is one who has committed to Ole Miss. FactsOnly, I was given this information as a FACT from this coach who is very familar with Ridgeway. There are also rumblings from my former Dyer Co fraternity brothers that another player from Ridgeway was knocked out of last weeks game with a concussion. I was not told which player this was. My guess he plays this week no matter the health of the kid. FactsOnly these are facts for you.

  2. Where is this game being played? I thought before last week that Springfield was the more pwrful team of the two but after last week I'm not so sure. they are young, thin, and like to turn it over. As long as Dickson holds onto the ball i think they win unless Springfield dresses out a much different team than what i saw last week. Good luck to both, I actually think this will be a great game.

  3. Well...Henry County coming off a very impressive win over a good Springfield Yellowjacket team..will travel back to Clarksville to take on the West Creek Coyotes who have yet to find the win column this season. The Coyotes stiffened up their non-district schedule this year and it looks like that plus the lack of winning will keep them from returning to the playoffs after making an appearance last year! Can anyone give the Patriot fans a report on the field conditions at West Creek. Two years ago, HC played the 3rd game ever on that surface...wet, raining, muddy, soft, and new..which made for a messy and dangerous situation...has it improved as it has aged?

Hey Prez! They rippin' you on those other boards about the WestTN top 10. Since a few were ganging up on you I went to bat for you over there. you don't owe me anything. Go Big Red!

  4. Aren't you just full of insight? And talk about "Cupcake City" schedule, why do you want to be in the West quad come playoff time? I will go on and say it, HC will more than likely not make the State title again. And if you do, then it's about time since you pleaded your way out of 6A when the original new classifications were announced. There, you should feel better with some air out of your

    balloon.

Since the Prez has ignored your stupid post, as a former Henry Countian, I'll answer for him! This thread isn't about your favorite team, it's about a hypothetical list in which NO ONE thinks your team belongs. Including me! Your Adamsville Cardinals couldn't beat HC's JV squad so what makes you think they could beat any of the other 10?

Next, why wouldn't they want to play in Quad 4? It obviously will be the weakest of the 4. Anyone that knows these teams knows this. How many times have your Cardinals played in the title game? Have they ever hosted a Semi-final game? Let me tell you, it's a priviledge to get to do so and HC has hosted 4 that I know of and even though HC lost all 4, two of them are 2 of the greatest games I've ever seen and your team was at home playing basketball!

What do you know about the proceeding during the reclassification meetings? To my knowledge (and maybe some of the other more qualified posters can answer for sure)HC and either Knoxville West or Morristown West was put in the 5A class. Then schools had a couple weeks to decide if any wanted to play up. I know West Creek decided to do that and i think Memphis Mitchell which bumped HC and one of those West schools up to 6A. Once it was brought to the attention of the TSSAA Board, it was unanamously agreed upon that no school should cause another to move classification. Moving up should be voluntary the board said. HC played in the biggest classification when I was in school and have for years. Why would they be afraid of doing it now? Simply put, they're not!

  5. GCPioneer...as much as you post and as many games as you see...I'm sure you're aware that there are some serious issues with your poll.

Hey Prez, why didn't you post your list on this board. I hope you don't mind but I stole it and posted it on this board. Looks good to me. Who do you think will win the McKenzie/Humboldt game?

  6. My top 10:

    1)Henry Co.

    2)Lexington

    3)Obion Co.

    4)Milan

    5)Huntingdon

    6)USJ

    7)Chester Co.

    8)South Gibson

    9)Dresden

    10)McKenzie

Mr. Pioneer, I agree with the other guys on here who said you have jumbled together a poor list. I noticed that there is this same thread on the other boards and although I don't always agree with The Prez i think that his list so far is the most PWRFUL 10 teams in WestTN excluding Memphis. Brighton might fall after this week because they play Millington and of course I think if Huntingdon can beat a pwrful team like Camden then they should probably move onto this list. If i can figure out how, I will post his list from the other page below here.

    1. Henry Co. 5-0

    2. Lexington 4-0

    3. Milan 4-0

    4. Liberty 2-2

    5. Brighton 3-1

    6. Covington 4-1

    7. Dyer County 4-1

    8. Obion County Central 5-0

    9. Chester County 5-0

    10.Humboldt 3-1

  7. 1. Henry County 5-0

    2. Lexington 4-0

    3. Milan 4-0

    4. Liberty 2-2

    5. Brighton 3-1

    6. Covington 4-1

    7. Dyer County 4-1

    8. Obion County Central 5-0

    9. Chester County 5-0

    10.Humboldt 3-1

for this week this would be my Top 10...that being said..I hate leaving out Westview even though they lost to Dresden and Obion County...they always come "Charging back" after a bad loss. Huntingdon is very good in 1A...but not to the calibur of the teams listed above...Camden really should be in..but I ran out of spots...I don't feel they are "better" than any of these 10...as good?..probably...better than...probably not.

WOW Mr. Prez, I haven't been on it a while but I see you have half of WestTN tore to pieces!!!! After reading some of the posts, i do not understand why everyone is so upset with you. You're top10 seems to be accurate and i agree that Huntingdon and USJ should be in but where? Certainly not over the PWRFUL teams you have on you list. unlike most fans, I'm not yet a believer in CC. I think we'll find out about them when they play Lexington and Liberty. Pwrful list tho!

  8. Sounds like they my have had an off night friday. Hope it was just first game jitters and they preform up to their 7 on 7 record. I believe Coady will make the changes needed to win games if any.

No..the Chargers didn't have an "off night" per say...they faced a MUCH better football team and it was noticed throughout the stadium. Fans from Milan, Camden, Marshall County KY, and Henry County would probably all say the same thing. Lexington was a very strong, fast, and talented football team and will do well this Fall. Likewise, WV will probably have another excellent season but will not face another team like Lexington all season. (Milan included)

  9. I think a Milan/Henry County game would be great for both schools. Two top notch programs in

West TN, why not? IMO it would be THE regular season game we all would look forward to.

All I meant by "eye Opener" was that we could compete with you guys.

Juice...Most Patriots fans have no question about the ability of the Bulldogs to compete with anybody...that includes HC!...should be a fun night in Paris on the 12th!!

  10. I would like to see Milan play Henry County during the regular season instead of Trenton.

Camden will win, Westview will lose, Milan gives HC and eye opener.

Swingjuice...many of us would love to see a Milan/HC regular season game...but given the size of District 10-AAA...there are only 2 dates that would work...meaning both teams must have those first two weeks open even IF both coaches wanted this match up (which as much as both teams do together during the offseason & preseason..I doubt they'd want to play). What do you mean by "eye opener"?

  11. The Tornadoes roll into the Boldt tomorrow night! But from reading most of the UC posts on here. It seems to me that the Tornadoe fans are not worried very much! You must fear the veer they better fear speed. I agree with you Mr.Bigster speed kills and i don' think the ball will be in the air much on either side tomorrow night! We shall find out in about 27 hours! Hope to be there if i can so far everthing is clear! Good luck to the Tornadoes and Vikes tomorrow night! :thumb:

Good Luck to the powerful Vikings tomorrow night! We Henry Countians wish the Vikings could win out and we certainly think you are pwerful enough to overcome Union City tomorrow night! Good Luck Humboldt!! Be powerful!!

  12. Clarksville's best team is headed to Dickson to take on the Cougars this Friday. Apparently, neither team nor community seems to be overly concerned. Dickson Co. is atop Distict 10-AAA while Northeast will probably also represent the district in the postseason. Can Northeast overcome the Cougars after a powerful showing against the Patriots?

  13. i was at a midstate game last week, does anyone know how many yards Campbell had against South Fulton? TDs? How did SF score 27?

also, Humboldt is 2-0 in the district and I hear UC is extremely down, who will be the toughest district game left? can Humboldt go undefeated in the district?

  14. Quan Campbell is about as good an athlete as there is in West TN.. both this season and last. However, Humboldt's offensive line does not get the push up front to allow him many "descent" opportunities. The Vikings play what I would call "good" defense..especially early. However, if there is one thing that the Vikings struggle with it's depth. They are extremely thin!..they play hard...but they are thin! I doubt they dress 45 kids. McKenzie will have more fans at Humboldt than will the Vikings...therefore..there will be no "home field" advantage. Unless Quan Campbell has a ridiculous night...this should be all Rebels! I hope both teams play well and would love to see the Vikings snag this one...I just seriously doubt it will happen!

Prez, i have read this entire thread. For some reason, you struck a nerve with the Viking fans. Even though i now live in Nashville, i still love me some West Tn football. I do agree with your post tho, i saw Humboldt play last year at home a couple times including the HC game and there wasn't much home field advantage as you say. They've never been really deep that i can remember but Quan Campbell may be the difference maker. If the Vikings do not turn it over much, they may have a shot at beating Mckenzie. Don't worry about the Vikings posters getting stirred up, they words you spoke are true, sometimes it's hard to hear when it's your team that others are calling out.

  15. Is there a principal job open at Henry Co?..Rumour in Dyersburg is that Counce has been offered the job and former principal ,Sam Miles is going also..Could be just a rumour..!

There currently is no principal job opening in Henry County. No one has been offered any job other than our former head coach who is taking the head coaching job in North Carolina and 2 other wonderful assistant coaches that have elected to go with him. Sam Miles is/was coming to Henry County prior to any football announcement. He is the new director of schools in Henry County. His first "official" day is April 1, 2010. Therefore, you can chalk all of the chatter you are hearing up as merely rumor. The Patriots will be a power in District 10AAA for the foreseeable future given the talent they have returning and the coaches that will remain on the staff. No new coach, regardless of who he is or his previous success would want to dismantle the current staff. Keep in mind, several of the candidates mentioned are friends and collegues of our current coaching staff.

  16. Stay on track.....this thread is about WESTVIEW and MAN! Dont go off about other Memphis schools or the West TN folk will have to start talking about Milan and then the East TN folk will start talking about Alcoa. ....do you really want that?! All I want to know is why cant we split some $$ and have the game at UTM field where the conditions are always perfect - the field is beautiful, the parking is safe, the bathrooms are clean, and visitor section is great, the concessions are good, ..... etc. Who wants to drive to an unsafe place. There will be more people from West TN going to watch the game than there will be people from Memphis there watching the game - so figure something out where people's vehicles and lives arent in danger! RIDICULOUS!

watcheroplays...I'll tell you why you can't "split some $$" and "have the game at UTM field"...BECAUSE YOU STARTED THE SEASON 0-4!!!! Where is it you're driving to that is unsafe? Who's lives are in danger? Have you ever been to Booker T. Washington...? Are you their groundskeeper?? How do you know their field conditions? Why would you want to play a team with considerably more speed than the Chargers on a faster track? You must have a short memory...remember the Patriots/Chargers game last year? Lastly, I find it ironic that you complain about a stadium/field that one school borrows from another because they don't have their own facility....when the Chargers also have to borrow another school's facility! It just so happens that the home you rent is nicer than the home that they rent...but at the end of the day...you are both renters!!! Have little more respect for you opponent ...i'm sure Manassas is proud to be able to play at BTW and are proud to be HOSTING a 1st round game!! How sad it must be that the team accustomed to hosting is now traveling! Enjoy the Bluff City!!

lol where did you get all of this bs from i mean seriously.....yall are gonna learn to not tick off the people from Westview because it really fuels them to kick yalls tails....

ummm.....who's tails should the ADVISOR be worried about Westview kicking??....do tell!! Dude...you need to seriously wake up!!

  17. This thread was getting silly now just getting stupid! :thumb:

gotta agree..not playing freshman games is not unusual for various reasons..

    GO REBELS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly, my son is a freshman at OC and for the reasons the coach chose not to play that freshman game was certainly ok with me. As for tomorrow night's game should be a good one, best of luck to are Rebels and a safe game for all the kids from both teams is all I am hoping for.

Was it OK with your son? Was it ok for the other young Rebels? What about the team he cancelled on?

As a fan of West TN football, I sincerely hope that Obion Co. has a safe trip to Memphis fairley. I hear that aren't as powerful as in previous years but they are still a very good team! Usually, if you can win the turnover battle, you stand a pretty good chance of beating speedy Memphis schools. Go Rebels!!!!

  18. Traditionally it has always been tough to pick up a win in Savannah, but the crowd isnt the only factor involved! A bigger factor is home-cookin! You better be a couple of scores better than Hardin Co if you expect to win there!

We've played in Savannah a couple times over the past few years and have never noticed the officiating any different there than anywhere else. The idea that the officials are "FROM" whereever they are officiating is a myth. Although Hardin County is a wonderful atmosphere in which to play or visit and they have wonderful facilities...the Tigers usually lack overall speed and aren't very physical. I haven't seen them play this year but i have no reason to believe they are any different in overall talent than the previous 4 or 5 years. Thus, the Tigers aren't quite as good as they themselves advertise. Northside shouldn't have any problem in Savannah.

  19. Trader

He had it last last year is what I was told. If he did not shame on the school and the principa and AD.

    Galilee;

what game did this injury happen? Does Gibson also play defense? As strong as Mitchell is...this saddens me for this young man..getting reinjured right before the playoffs. however, as deep as Mitchell is with athletes, I'm sure they have several young men waiting to fill his position...true?

Is he a senior? any colleges looking at him?

  20. And Mitchell had no business losing to Melrose. Mitchell is a very good team and Melrose is not what they used to be. If Mitchell is indeed seeded 8, they will be the most dangerous 8 seed in the state.....even the most dangerous 7 if thats where they end up.

I don't know how they can be anything but a #7 or #8, I am open to listening to ideas, but under the rules watch the video (http://tssaa.org/training/classificatio ... tation.htm) they must be #7 or #8

Randymc....i understand the criteria you are using...you are saying (based on the video) that no team can be seeded higher than another team in their district in which they finished behind in the district standings...i get that. However, No where does it mention that the teams with better overall records would be seeded higher...thus...this makes Ridgeway..clearly the eighth seed...and in theory...Melrose could be as high as 5 so long as Mitchell is 6...............true?
