  1. Larue is 6ft. tall about 165 lbs. and naturally left handed very fast & quick first step.

I'd say that is a pretty good extimate of how big he is. He scored a good 36 or 37 on us when we played them and the team only scored 50-ish. he does have a lot of talent but it is Carroll Academy and he does take 90% of the shots. A lot of them are dribbling up the flor and launching a three or just driving in and then throwing up a fade away over contested hands. Don't get me wrong, he has a lot of talent, but I think if he played with an actual basketball team he would average maybe 15 a game.

  2. Probably have to much for anyone in the region to handle. District 11aa is down this year as well. Creek Wood, Harpeth, Sycamore, and Waverly are the teams that will be representing District 11aa.

Go ahead and say Bolivar wins region. They already know it along with everyone else. I hope they do well past that though.

I take Bolivar over Lexington by 20 and South Side over NcNairy by 10.... But if McNairy plays well it could change that really quick. Neither of those teams can come out flat and expect to win. McNairy shot the ball extremely well against us and ended up being the death of us so I'd advise SS to guard the perimeter because we didn't.

  3. One other comment is that i have never seen a coach try to work the refs like West Carrolls coach and the refs let him do it. On a couple of inbound plays this one ref would just delay the game and go over and talk to WC's coach. Once or twice i can see but this went on all game long. I felt like getting a little table an candle, and a glass of wine and sitting it over next to their bench. IT was rediculious.

I agree with you here. But! As much as EVERYONE doesn't like it.. it works. Greer may flop, but he shoots a lot of free throws and makes majority of them. He may cry to the refs and their coach does the same but it works them over and gives them the advantage. No matter how much everyone, me included, hates all of that.. it works. Coach Greer is a smart guy. Used to coach our coach in college so you know he has a lot of experience as a coach and knows what he is doing.

  4. I know why but I had rather not post on here. He should be back though, from what I know. The best think that is ever going to happen for Reaves is when he gets away from Bolivar and to Austin Peay next season.

Hmm.. I know he hasn't started against us at all. That could be because of the skill difference with the teamds and not trying to get him injured but I do know he has been in and out of trouble this school year. I don't know what kind, that's all I've heard. Hope he straightens up though if he's in trouble again.

  5. These are not my predictions but this is how the district standings are going to finish. Everything has been decided except 3rd and 4th and we have to wait and see what McNairy does against Camden.

We plan on winning tomorrow. Atleast oull one district win out! We would like to see Chester County come tourny time but McNairy would be an ok opponent also. I think we fair a chance of beating them both depending on how we play.

  6. Honestly no belittling was intended..When you are talked about as much as Greer you have to know you will be critiqued by people watching you.. I am just calling a spade a spade...If you look back at the whole post it was said more than once that he was a good player, just do not am not appreciative of the type of game he plays..

I agree.. I love guarding Greer because it always keeps you alert. You have to be very precise about everything or he's gonna flop or go by you. Get too far away he'll hit the 3. He's a good player, but I feel he can cut out the flopping and whining. Outside of that, he is close to unstoppable by any regular defender in single A. I just hope when he gets to college he gets the same calls and he will be doing great.

Anyways.. Congrats BS. You guys broved me wrong! I hope ya'll can do it again come tourny time and go deep in state tourny. It's gonna be a long road though!

  7. cortez may not have scored much against yall but #24,,ronny nixon sure did,,i heard he lit yall up,,very nice on his part,, /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />,,our guys play good defense and yes our guys can shoot.

You're right. I don't know anyone else on the team but someone was doing the scoring since we stoppd Cortez from doing it. All we knew coming in is that he does most all the scoring so we stopped him but the others stepped up. I heard they also beat Chester County in OT! Congrats guys! Definately surprising some people with that one! We lost in double OT last Friday to them so I know you guys were happy as all get out on the victory. I can;t wait to see how district plays out from above Camden to under Bolivar. Should be good tourny.

  8. This is the biggest game of the year for Chester County if they win they lock up 3rd place in the district....although McNairy has been playing good ball lately i feel that Chester County has the advantage if they come to play.....The younger players are gonna have to step up since the loss of Harold Spain who is out with an ankle injury and may not return till regions

I agree with you. I think Chester County wins this one by atleast 10. Maybe more depending on how each team plays. We showed Friday that they are beatable but we ended up losing in double over time by 3. McNairy was also a close game too but I think Chester County just has more personel that can do some scoring. Stop that Cortez kid for McNairy and yit should be a win for you. I hear he does all their scoring even though he didn't do anything against us. They have a couple players that can shoot at times.

  9. To basketball2223 spell EXCUSES correctly. And to Camden and 2223. Stop whining cussing goes on ALL THE TIME in basketball whether they are rich or poor. Like I said these dudes are 16-18, cussing is just like another word. Stop acting like you are talking about 10 year olds(and there r kids who cuss before that) who shouldnt be talking like that. The one time I went to an NBA game, that was the most cussing I have ever heard in my life on a basketball court, even guys who look really classy were cussing, it just shows emotion. And the people at that NBA game didnt come away whining about how the cussing was to much for them. If you found it offensive...LEAVE no one is asking you to listen. Really, stop whinig both teams cussed and there is nothing wrong with it.

Oh and I HIGHLY DOUBT any player expected for the whole crowd to hear him cuss if there where that many people at the game. Once again, if u dont like the cussing well then LEAVE.

And think.. In the NBA. Kids look up to these guys and then go to a game and hear them constantly cussing. Now those same kids are going to say. hey! My hero is cussing like a sailor while he plays.. So should I! Now it's on the parents to get the kid out of it because they have some sense and know you should be respectable. Cussing is just another word but it's very disrespecting.

What if you owned a business and a guy comes in for an interview and the first thing is says is.. "How the f*** are you, bi***!?" Think you are going to hire him because it's acceptable that he is only cussing instead of walking in and shooting you? No.. You won't even consider the guy.

  10. School is cancelled for Benton County tomorrow wonder if we will play or not /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I was wondering the same thing. We are suppose to play West Carroll at home tomorrow. I guess it all depends on the conditions around 4-5 p.m.

  11. This is coming from a biased stand point.. I didn't see the game nor know much about these kids, but you have to have more respect when you get on that floor than to cuss to where people in the stands can hear you. When you put on that uniform you are not only representing yourself on the floor, you are repping your parents, coaches, and your school. If you are a fan watching a game and all the kids are dropping "F" bombs and all this loud enough for you to hear it, are you not going to lose respect for them?? Their backgrounds have nothing to do with it. I was born and raised in the "projects" in Memphis with only a mother and a drug addict/alcoholic father.. Then left that enviroment after 10 years and been with a single mom since but I don't get on the floor and act like an idiot. You guys are making excuses for those kids no matter which team it was coming from... If you want to overcome your situations then you have to make an effort to do it. Like you guys say.. These guys are 16-18 years old. Basically grown men. Be more respectable for christs sake. I know if I slip up and say 1 cuss word period even in practice, it's nothing but running for me.

Just because these kids are good players and have this big future ahead of them doesn't excuse them to do whatever they want. If most of these kids only have their mother I am willing to bet anything that their mother's did NOT raise them to do things like that.

  12. I say they finish 1st or 2nd in the district tournament, and get beat by Middleton or Manassas in the region semis.

If they finish 1st and get by Middleton in the region semis, then they will probably travel to Lake County or Humboldt in the substate. (That is assuming that Manasass beats them in the region championship)

Odds are against them. But stranger things have happened. Good luck to them.

Oh they have no chance once it comes to region and so on. They can't come close to winning state. They are just playing good right now. Give them their props.

  13. yes he is a junior this year. If some people dont like his attitude i wouldnt understand that hes a very good player that works very hard at his sport i have seen every game and have seen no bad attitude from him. he is a good kid.

He has a great attitude majority of the time on the flor. I guess the only time he wouldhave one is when the refs aren't calling the things he normally gets called for him. But everyone gets mad at a missed call or when they think they were fouled. He works very hard to be as good as he is and will continue that I am sure.

  14. Riverside is playing some really good ball this year.

I agree. They played a lot better than we ever expected them to. Both times we played them. I like the way their team is ran. Keep it up boys and good luck the rest of the season.

  15. Well Carroll Academy went as expected we beat them by a pretty heft number and that is with out B and C teams in there for most of the 2nd half... I was interested with all of this talk about Larue what we would see..Honestly the kid does have talent but did not score much in the first half at all..scored the majority of his points against our B and C teams that is when he really shined.. He did not have the chops against our starting 5 but then again it would help if he had a bit more talent to work with... He is a good player...

About the above posts..... Greer is a good player, an impressive athlete I do not dispute that but anyone that plays 4 quarters of basketball all games and every game and averages 1 foul per game is suspect in my mind..If you are playing an aggressive game at both ends of the court it would warrant more than 1 foul per game... I would also like to mention that he has some kids around him that can also score and they do well also. It is a shame that all the attention must be on 1 player.. When we played them their one guard I think his name was Cunningham? was very iimpressive... Scruggs and McClain both had good games also.. He does have some help and they all get lost if the "Greer" frenzy which in my opinion is a shame...He is a good player hands down and that is that..But our 2 guards are quite good also.. I would love to see he and Cox match up I think it would be great to see..

Greer would have his way with Cox. lol Cox is a pretty decent player, don't get me wrong but I think Greer is by far better.

And If Greer played for any school bigger than single A he'd get a lot more recognition. He has good players surrounding him but not great players.

I was saying holding Greer to 19 is shutting him down not out of saying I am a good defender or anything. I said it to prove how good of a player he really is. 19 is a bad game of scoring for him butyet he still scored what most players hardly ever do.

  16. first of all i would just like to say thank you for the comical relief on the pages before these last few...i have always heard that the education level was lacking in the big sandy/camden area..thank you for proving that theory correct. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

now my point in commenting on this website is not to bash anyone, but to set some things straight about greer that i could not help but add my opinion to.

my son plays for cc and we played wc in december in a classic at our gym. you absolutely have to be out of your mind if you think this young man does not have college potential. he can and DOES do everything...handle the ball, shoot from outside, play inside, the list goes on... i think it is foolish to say that the reason you havent beaten wc or the reason he scores as much as he does is bc the refs baby him and everyone calls fouls. well lets concentrate really hard and try to THINK about why this may occur...BECAUSE HE IS EVERYWHERE!...he knows what the meaning of the word hustle is (a rare thing to come by these days)...probably what has impressed me the most about him, his versatility and how he is a big part of every play, never stands around. how can an official not call a foul when eight plays out of ten he is driving to the basket and getting slapped by three different people? and im pretty sure i also read that someone said something about his dad crying about the fouls too, in essence whining about him not getting babied. i have seen greer play a handfull of times and i know that not only on one occasion have i seen his dad jerk him up and get in his face--not my definition of babying, but thats just me.

another thing, saying that he wouldnt play for some of the teams in 14a (lake co., uc, humboldt) is also..in my opinion.. stupid. one of my sons good friends from ripley played with him this summer in aau and im pretty sure that he was always a starter and got a lot of playing time. so he could obviously handle 14a if he can handle playing with and against some of the best kids in the country.

i also find it a bit odd that players who have played against him get on here and say rude things. maybe your performance against him didnt say enough so you have to get on here and make up for the lack there of? especially you camdenballer..you are making yourself look pathetic, if you were such a great defender/player you wouldnt have to get on a website just to tell everyone about it... greer hasnt gotten on here yet has he? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> saying you shut him down to 19? HA and then please tell everyone how many greer scored the second time around...ive done my research and cant wait to see the stats from the third meeting!

i have really enjoyed watching players like greer come up through high school and develop into great young athletes. and i wish him the best of luck and am very anxious to see where he ends up going after his senior year bc any logical mind would know that he will and may already have his fair share of options.

If you didn't catch anything I said, I was saying holding him to 19 would be like shutting him down. I am not trying to take anything from him, Believe me, I know he is a great players. He will go on and play college no doubt. My only thing negative towards him was that he wouldn't play at a big school such as Knoxville, etc. Don't try to put words in my mouth saying he stinks.. I know he doesn't. He'd beat me 10/10 times if I played him 1 on 1.

He had 36 I believe in the second meeting. In my defense, I didn't guard him but for maybe half the game. I know that doesn't mean anything but still. I am ready to see the 3rd meeting too.. We have things to prove.
