  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like Franklin, Indy, Brentwood, and Hillsboro are setting themselves above the rest of the district. However there is still a lot of basketball left to be played.

The CHS game was a big suurprize as I watched the game I keep thinking this can't be happening. I do think

we are going to far into our bench this year. We don't shoot the ball as well outside as some of the previous FHS teams. But look for the Rebs to rebound and start playing up to our potential. I see FHS, IHS and BHS slugging it out for district title. Hillsboro maybe the most dangerous team come tournamet time except for us ofcourse...

  2. I told everyone Franklin is overrated, this team is about to fizzle. They don't have the mental toughness to compete with the hardnose teams in the district. Wait till the Eagles make the trip over to Franklin and beat you like Brentwood did. No one is scared of you anymore, they see you are soft. Your fan section is pathetic as well. At least teams like Ravenwood support their school, I guess you guys are too busy with all the out of school activity Franklin is famous for.

Indy fan quit making ridiclious statements FHS lost to a very good Brentwood team. Look at Brentwood's record most of their loses have been very close. We just did not play up to our potential. But i'm not one to make excuses Brentwood deserves credit for a well played and coached game. Looking forward to the rest of the district scheudle guess you have say the district race is wide open now. I still expect FHS to bounce back and win the district and region...

So where does Overton fit in in all of this?

Overton should have been fifth sorry for the omission. Overton played us tuff this week. They have a very good

team and could finish higher. They are capable of beating anyone in district other than us of course /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Big district game Friday night in Franklin. As we welcome Brentwood to town.

    Any predictions...

  4. Watched all of the Rebs games this year except Fl tourney. I will say this team is starting to play very well.

I stand by preditions at the beginning of season. Rebs will not be seriously challanged this year in district play. The big win over Hillsboro and the win over Columbia show coach Johnson has Young and company going in the right direction. As for the rest of the district. Indy has been a surprize they are playing better than anyone expected.

Our Big man is starting to play very well. This team can scary if they keep improving...

This is how I see it

    1. Rebs

    2. Hillsboro

    3. Indy

    4. Brentwood - Centennial

    6. Ravenwood

    7. Hillwood

  5. Hillsboro maybe our biggest challange in district 11AAA. I am hearing they are very good. I still look for the

REBS to win this district going away. This group of seniors have won every championship since the eight grade (except 1). I really don't look for them to lose now. To much talent and they play together very well.

As far as Brentwood we have Haddix and Starnes inside both will do well against brentwood. Don't hold your breath waiting for a Brentwood upset. Brentwood will not be able to stop our 3s or starnes / Haddix in the paint. As far as 11AAA we lose one game every 3 years to bad we lost a game last year...

After we win the district again... Maplewood looks like the best out of 12AAA but I am not sure who else in 12AAA is going to challange who does Mcgavock have back?

  6. Darren Henrie did move here from Illinois. However, he played his junior and senior years at Franklin and he did graduate in 1986. To say he was one of the two best to come out of 11AAA is silly. FIrst off, I think Darren will even tell you that he became a MUCH better player for Don Meyer than he ever was at Franklin ( did it even occur to you that Lipscomb was an NAIA school at that time. If he was that good he would have had big-time offers). Darren never played a game in 11AAA. Franklin was in 9AAA then. Also, Kevin Anglin played in 9AAA, not 11AAA. That district then included Brentwood as well as Mount Juliet, Gallatin, Smyrna, Hendersonville, Beech, and Springfield. Franklin was still in 9AAA up into the mid-90's. I know we beat Jason Moore in like'92 or '93 at Franklin in the 1st round of the district tourn. He put up 39 with 10 threes, but they still lost.

THe history of 11AAA is with teams like MBA, Ryan, Glencliff, Antioch, Overton, Hillwood, Hillsboro. Names like Tommy Springer and Tyrone Harper at Glencliff, Sidney Grider and John Sneed at Ryan, Brandon Wharton and the Jemison brothers at Overton.......................too many to name.

bigchief thanks for the history lesson. Since Henry played in 9AAA guess he can't be one of the all time 11AAA greats. I am now revising my post. Anglin and Henry are two of the best players to every come out of 9AAA. Henry also tried out with Atlanta Hawsk scored over 40 in a preseaon game and was the last player cut. The point here is both were very good both were REBS

  7. Very well said.

I know of both of them. However memory lane doesn't go back that far.

From looking at the time of your post your screen name should be no sleeper. Never saw Anglin or Henry play but Anglin did lead the rebs to state championship and stared on SEC championship team for Vanderbilt. Henry played pro ball in europe.

  8. No offense to young, as he is a very good player who i have enjoyed watching the last 2 years, but he is not close to the top player in the district. in my opinion the highest you could put him is 4th behind kelly, teichmann, and arthur from hillsboro. i could very well see him winning MVP if the rebs take the district again and his numbers improve. his leadership, experience, and willingness to take a big shot is vital to franklins success

Everyone has an opinion guess we will find out during the season. The games are not played on this board.

I strongly disagree that Young is as no better than fourth in the district. He has several D1 looks at this point and is only going to get better as season progresses. The other players you mentioned are very good .

  9. I agree that Franklin owns this district and will again this year. However Michael Young is nowhere near the player Drew Kelly is. I have been watching games in this district for the past 6 years and I can say without a doubt that Drew Kelly is the best player to come through this district during that time span. (That includes the trio of guards at Franklin a few years back, B. Carden from Centennial, T.C., M. Dotson from Hickman, and any others)

Sleeper you make a good point Kelly is a great player. However if Franklin wins district again, then Michael Young is the best player on the best team and imo should be district MVP. If you want to walk down memory lane with all time district greats the two best players to ever come out of 11aaa were probably Kevin Anglin and Darren Henry...

both former standouts with the REBS!!!

  10. 11aaa will be somewhat competive this year but I expect the REBS to

march through without to much trouble. The question is who do we have to

beat to get to the Boro. I am picking Maplewood to be our strongest challange. Anybody

else in Metro that will be good this year?

  11. This is my 10th year of watching the rebs play. It seems like every year there is a

new challanger to our dominace of 11aaa. My picks are below

    1. Franklin (We OWN 11AAA get use to it)

    2. CHS (Drew Kelly 2nd best player in district but wont be enough we should only beat them 10)

    3. Brentwood (Tidwell is back I have confirmed.. best athlete in district won't matter we own them)

    4. Hillsboro (They did upset us last year ill give them credit for that they lost several seniors though)

    5. Overton (has some talent could surprize some people)

    6. Ravenwood (Two best players gone from last years team)

    7. Indy (Good shooter in consig but a tuff year ahead)

    8. Hillwood (goint to be another tuff year)

I never understand how people come on here every year and pick against the REBS. We have

everyone back except Kevin. Michael Young is the BEST PLAYER in district .... This group of seniors is special look

for them in the Boro .....
