Awesome post! There are a few parents at Lenoir City should be made to read and read again this post. We lost a coach due to parents and will loose another this year.

My question is, we got a new coach and he has NEVER seen a girl play ball because she hurt her knee at the beginning of the summer and she hasn`t played. (yea whatever ) He is saying that she is 1 of the 2 best players on the team, how does he know that? She has done nothing but be lazy so please tell me how he knows?

My question is are there any rules that says a girl CAN NOT play summer ball at 1 school (the one she attends and has played for the last 2 years) and another school where she was thinking about going?

2 new girls did come but they have been at LC. One is a senoir and one is a junoir never played bball before they were asked to come and play by the AD.

Who do you think it is?

C.P and her daughter is a sophomore and K.R her daughter is a sophomore!! There was another set of parents "G" she is a sophomore also along with 2 other people that don`t go to LC!

Well the smart thing to do would be to get a coach from Mars so he/she doesn`t know anyone!! Then everybody starts off fresh, then a few months from now when he/she has been here the same parents can get there claws into them and we can start all over. We need someone who will stand up to certain parents and we all know who we are talking about. AD make some rules (so those parents can break). The new coach needs some of the mommies phone numbers so they can check in and make sure nobody is sad!!!

coachinhoops you are not correct about the so called classy lady! There is no class in someone who was going around town telling people that if Coach Lee wasn`t fired they would remove there daughter. Them and 4 other sets of parents got together and said he abused the girls. You can ask anybody we know who did it. There daughter wasn`t and isn`t going anywhere. They were very smart in how they went about everything. LC will get a new coach and he/she will not have a clue what they are getting into. Why do you think Coach Wells left?? Crazy parents!! This is going to be the worst year ever with the girls, I hope you are happy!!

What can you say, people have been trying to get Coach Lee fired for years and nobody could do it except about 5 sets of parents. If they can do that what do you think is going to happen now? They will hand pick the next coach that comes in. I hope he or she is ready to come into the fire pit. These are the biggest bunch of ******** I have ever seen!! Those girls that went to Loudon were smart!! Even though they can`t play on varsity this year it would be worth it. Lenoir City sports is run by parents (certain parents) Take CHARGE coach that is for both teams!!

Both girls went to Loudon and now they are Loudon`s problem. There is enough trouble at Lenoir City!!

Hear the boys team is really going to be good, How about the girls?

Been hearing lots of rumors about Lenoir City girls team, That they run one of there on team mates off because they were bitten by the green eyed monster!!!

Tanner Wilson he is from Lenoir City, I know that Lenoir City is not good but this kid is really going to do some good things for LC.

I agree that WB has some talent and I think that they could beat LC. LC has some good players but I watched them this summer and they seem like they don`t get along with each other. To many ball hogs, some people think that it only takes 2 or 3 to play basketball. Coach needs to get a hold of some of those girls!!!! Bad attitude and Potty mouths!!!

So, lovedahoops, a coach needs to leave as soon as he faces tough critism? I don't think that would be very helpful. Then we would be searching for coaches every other year just about. When will society get over this idea of win and win NOW! Most schools are not powerhouses. Never have and may never be. Shouldn't people be a little more patient and see if things can get turned around. Parents are only worried about their ked playing, not how good they are. My parents always explained to me that I might not be the best. If I wasn't, I had to work a bit harder to out work the other player if I wanted a chance. WHERE HAS THE HARD WORK GONE?!?!?! Kids expect everything with out giving their best effort.

 

So again, when should a coach leave? When it's right for them or when no one will play?

He has been at Lenoir City for over 30 years!!! He never has had a winning season!! Besides that isn`t the point, it`s how he treats these girls everyday. He has his picks and if your not one of them he will make you feel so little and so ashamed. Most of these girls put up with it because they love B-Ball.

I have spoken to MOST of the Lenoir City girls who play for other AAU teams and let them know that we miss them not playing for us, I sincerely mean this....EVERY SINGLE girl that I spoke with said " I WISH, I COULD STILL PLAY FOR WENDY'S"....every single one....I spoke to 4 girls on Friday while I was setting up the gym for our tournament.

 

Now...who's making that decision, that's not allowing the girls to play for the team they want??? I'm starting to figure out it's not the kids.

 

I'm not a parent myself, but I can understand how some of the parents are thinking and wanting the best for their child, but you need to let your child decide on what team they want to play for.

 

Wendy's Elite will never be what is considered an "AAU" elite team....that's not we are trying to accomplish from this program. The original intent was to allow all girls from Lenoir City to be apart of an AAU/spring team so we can make everyone, NOT JUST THE ELITE PLAYERS, better at basketball. Just because your daughter doesn't play every game or play as much as you like doesn't mean she doesn't have the chance to prove herself everyday in practice.

 

We have beat many and numerous hand pick AAU teams over the years. I believe some of the parents have been feed to much BULL about what people are calling "exposure" tournaments...how many college coaches are looking at freshman and sophs??? Get real.....I'm promise if your daughter can play then college coaches will know about her.

 

For the people who are upset about letting an 8th grader play up with the high school team during our AAU then what are you going to do about next year? Have you thought about that? These 8th graders are hungry wanting to prove themselves, you better make sure your child is up to the challenge.

 

BTW- All you Joe Lee haters, his 13 & under team made it to the finals tomorrow...pretty good for an old man, who's allowed the game to pass him bye. For $5 you can come and "boo" him. ...hope to see you there. Greg....

That is great about the 8th grade team winning!!! What about the Wendy`s high school team?

Parents I (Greg Ledbetter) asked two girls from the 8th grade team to come up and play with the high school...THIS WAS REQUESTED BY THEIR COACH, PERRY HULL. Not Joe Lee and not Greg Ledbetter...Perry Hull.

 

The reason they were asked to play up because of other girls who did track for Lenoir City. Who could NOT make it to the games until late. That left the coach with only 7 players.

 

The high school team played in 4 games tonight because of prom tomorrow.

 

Parents, if you are scared of competition then your KIDS will have a rough life in this dog eat dog world. We have some of the best coaches around, period.

 

High School- Perry Hull- Seqyouah HS 25 years experience as Head Coach

13s- Joe Lee, 30 some odd years of experience and has won 70% of his AAU games in the last 6 years.

12s- Mike Guillimet, 10 years of experience HS, Greenback, Seqyuoah & Kingston

11s- Josh Brannon, Admit- One year experience at Vonore Middle school, but came in 2nd in his district and winning the JV Monroe county tournament....unlimited potential and will be invited back AS LONG AS I'm around.

9s- Greg Ledbetter (no coach I've been told), but has coached numerous AAU teams beside Wendys, Lenoir City fall league for 10 years (winning the tournament once) assisted by Brad Miller, assistant coach for Lenoir City Middle School for 3 years.

 

These coaches coach for 3 months and get paid on average of $400 a month, $100 a week...they practice twice a week and drive to the tournaments just like everyone else. You think they are pocketing much money...it basically covers there travel expensives.

 

No one wants Lenoir City to be successful more than I do...I'm extremely proud of what our Lenoir/North Middle schools have accomplished the last couple of years....I would like to hope some of this is due to the Wendy's Elite program....keep in mind, if I didn't care, then I would just get you parents who are complaining to coach the teams since you know sooooo much about basketball and are definately more qualified than the BOZOs I have now....

 

Oh yeah, since I only care about "lining" our pockets...we have games allll day tomorrow and for $5 you can come and see how bad we treat LC kids.

 

One more thing, if you think Coach Perry Hull is a puppet and does what Joe Lee tells him to do then you don't know Perry Hull....one of the strongest personailites this side of the Mississippi. HE COACHES HIS TEAM THE WAY HE WANTS...PERIOD...IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME...ASK HIM.

Bottom line is, Wendy's has let all the talent go to other teams due to the fact that they play in local tournaments against the same teams and they are not an AAU team. You will never get better playing at the Wendy's level and people have slowly caught on.The coach of the HS girls made a huge mistake asking those girls to move up, not one is ready for the level played at in HS. LC girls are once again looking at a very long season.

Ledbetter I would expect you to take the stand you did??¦everyone knows you are Lee??™s little yes man. And please don't say ???we do this for the girls"...when you refer to your Wendy's...that??™s a pile of crap! Need we bring up the fact that Wendy's is not a sanctioned AAU team? No, Wendy's does not even try to Compete at DI; DII or even DIII on a state or national level , to improve the girls that play for them, in turn improveing their respective high schools.

 

Playing time on Wendy??™s older teams is dictated by LC girls coach instead of the coach that actually sets the bench for Wendy??™s. Wonder what TSSAA would think of all this!!! Don??™t know if it??™s illegal but it ain??™t right.

 

Wendy's does not pay coaches, they do not pay to use gyms for practice (the Lenoir city school system does ... thanks to LC girls coach...humm...). I bet the tax payers of LC would love to know this so would the school board!!!

 

Wendy's plays in mostly their own tournaments (which Wendy's teams play for free.). If Wendy's puts their teams in someone else??™s tournaments, it's a Local non Sanctioned tournament 100.00 to 200.00 each team to enter. (And if you put more then one team in a tournament you get a break on fees??¦ Wendy??™s has 6 teams Humm...break?). Wendy's, week in and week out play the same 5 clubs over and over and over again, who gets better doing this? Not the girls..coaches.. no,I doubt that.

 

Wendy's use to supply??™s only jerseys to the girls (no shorts) on a ???deposit??? bases, these Jersey's were old (and paid for by scared LC parent??™s years ago) and guess what... you never get your "Deposit" back when you turn them in. That all changed this year, they got new Jerseys and shorts...WOW that was nice after all these years of fees!!!

 

So how many girls does Wendy's have playing??¦ hummm.. let's see??¦ 6 teams at no less then 15 girls a team that??™s 90 girls?How much does Wendy's make on player fee's?? How much does Wendy??™s make on their own tournaments, tee shirt sales and concessions (who parents help run for free to try to get more playing time for their kid)??? Where does the money go Ledbetter??¦ referees??..Team inprovements ??¦???? Crap??¦It is the biggest summer scam going!!! LC girls coach makes the kids feel like they better play for Wendy's and come to his summer camps run by his High School players (for free) if you want to play for LC High School. It's extortion, plan and simple!! what a rip off!!!

And people wonder why the girls in LC don??™t get better... The only way they get better is working on their own, which many do; but what does it get them? you can only set so far down the bench!!! Ledbetter you say poor ole LC only has two feeder schools; well that is one more then most of knox county high schools have with their zoning issue! Ledbetter get your fact before you speek, There is an old saying ???Let people think you??™re a fool less you open your mouth and remove all doubt??? . folks it's not about your kid it's how much money this bunch can make in the off season.... it is a racket...its a small town. It stinks for the girls.

And if you come back on this thread I will throw out figures and statistic and start naming names??¦believe me you don??™t want this!!! Change your program??¦ it is time for the children to be heard!!!! ???Players are made in the off season???. Not in LC!!! Unless your parents play those silly "be nice to coaches you don't even like or respect" games.. you know go get their dry cleaning... buy their dinner...take private lesson from them.... that kind of stuff !

 

People are tired of the crap they put up with in LC to let their kids play a sport they love!! No, these kids might not get scholarships to play college ball, there are very few scholarships given to even LC "most talented" kids??¦wonder why??? Could it be the summer program could it be the high school coach??? LC girls coach has been playing the ???girls he thinks has the most talent??? for decades and they still loose??¦. There is good talent in LC and they could finish 3rd in their district next year regardless of their ???feeder??? middle schools being A or AA ??¦ but they want??¦guess why??¦....

I get your point and its a totally valid one and thats why i said the comment about "what the coaches get paid for".

Criticize the coaching decisions, these people are adults and can handle it.

 

I just don't think its right mentioning a high school girl by name and having her read these comments or hear about them.

 

Im sure you probably have some stake in the team or playing time...but lets keep it in perspective that these are just girls and its high school.....we have professional sports to criticize the players

no playing time at stake, just follow sports very close at LC. Played there a long time ago and I hate to see someone with such talent get passed by.

I'm sure your daughter is an excellent player....

Way off base, but I have seen her play in various tournaments. She is a very good player!!
