Sounds as if you already know who and why the last applicant chose to go elsewhere, and it wouldn't be proper for me to disclose the identity of the new prospective coach. Maybe it's just me, but I believe that it would be his prerogative to choose when and to whom he makes the public aware. In the current era of instantaneous information there's no option of meeting with your old team, then making an "official" announcement... as soon as one person knows, everyone will know within minutes, and there's always the "I don't want my current employer to know" aspect.

As you said, word travels fast these days. I understand the need for discretion, it's just no news makes for a slow day.

Lexington Tigers have been turned down several times already. Lexington Tigers have been turned down by a current head coach from a high profile program that has elected to stay at his program and at least one assistant coach at a high profile program that is likely going to another program. Coach Hollingsworth will get a good coach for the program that means so much to him. I have spoken to Coach Hollingsworth in great length about the search. He is becoming pretty frustrated but he will soon have it announced. I guarantee it. It will happen. Does anyone want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Most admins hate coaching searches, that's why it's important to do it right. I'm sure many qualified individuals are chomping at the bits for the opportunity to take over.

Dozens of them... none are accurate though. Interviews were completed and an offer was made but turned down. Seems someone else made him an offer that he couldn't refuse at the 11'th hour. Committee is working toward reaching an agreement with another HC that showed interest early on but pulled back...may have to sweeten the pot a bit more.

Lexington is a sweet gig, however,  it's not often you get the chance to work with a Legend. Any hints as to who this coach is? Need some morsels to chew on while we wait!

Well, it is high time that I bring my flock something to graze on. It's not Bermuda, it is not alfalfa, this will be the finest manure that one can manifest. You see children, we cannot fathom the desires of the moronical...only watch and pray that the sheep are wise enough to go on to other pastures for this field needs to tilled and planted. Without further delay, I give you the finest manure McNairy Bobcats are serving

I shall start with the coaching search and leading candidates and for obvious reasons (Behind Enemy Lines style. "No names over the net.)

1.) Assistant Coach at Lexington. He was WR coach at McNairy 3 years ago. Former sped teacher, but forged some SPED documents was removed to middle school PE. Now, I know he sounds like a winner so let me add to it. His first head coaching position put him in charge of track and field. He QUIT mid season. Looks like poo, sounds like poo...wonder what it taste like?

2.) My personal favorite is the PEE-WEE coach of the year in Alcorn County. Word has it that he presented his former playbook filled with 260 plays. Now, this playbook was not Coach Klein's playbook but his playbook from when he played practice squad for the vols. He currently works for CATERPILLAR so don't know how they would get him in building.

3.) Mike Mattox retiree from Booneville, MS

    4.) 2 Current staff members

    5.) Retiree from up north

    Search Committee Updates:

Former booster club president. Nursing teacher in the building. Current Parent of a player. The princiPAL. The AD. Now, the director of schools has washed his hands of the situation, but he will have individual meetings with committee members afterwards. (Why was your hands? Just let those germs build up. Good for the immune system.)

I gotta go. This place smells awful.

@GregoryMartin You seem like someone close to the situation, a person in the know, with these little tidbits of information. I'd guess you have a vested interest in who gets the job and would desire McNairy Football to achieve much, much more than the past decade or more. Maybe not, could be you're for the competition and enjoying the chaos, however, I doubt it! And as they say, attitude reflects leadership - I agree with you that the powers that be are at the core of this current situation. Usually, I'm amused at your rantings, however, being someone who doesn't have the power to hire/fire said persons or coaches (if you do....you're probably part of the problem :D ) it also looks bad that you'd bash these poor souls who are interested in coming to a place in such disarray. Yes, fans are entitled to their opinions, but when you have "manure" to offer (not speaking about the kids, just the situation) you're not going to get the creme de la creme until those things are fixed. Also, I'm not saying these candidates are not good coaches or people - I'm saying that as a fan you may not get the sexy hire but at least someone who is capable and can right the ship.

  4. I’ve only seen bits and pieces of both teams - this was going off what I’ve heard others say. I do think Dyersburg has an excellent front, however have struggled with teams that can throw it. I wish I could have seen last years game, how was Dyer able to best the Trojans then? Either way, I do think it’s Dyersburg year based solely on the Hype surrounding the program and the depth/age of their team. Anytime you’re able to successfully run the ball, you have a chance.

  5. Another intriguing match up. With Milan's QB out, how does this team stack up? South Gibson has a Ole Miss commit at OLB, can he get enough pressure to effect the back up. I also hear the Pruitt kid has been out due to some issue with his foot? Will he play and if so at what position WR/QB(spring).

My question, is there something wrong with Milan's turf? It seems like there are numerous injuries to multiple teams that play there since it's installation.

Amazing atmosphere & beautiful field - this game should be standing room only! I'm looking forward to this one for sure, hopefully both teams make it out without injuries!

  6. I keep hearing that Dyer Co. defense is stifling! Will Dyersburg be able to pound it 3-5 consistently, will Dyer Co. be able to throw over this Dyersburg secondary?  This should be an interesting match up between the air raid and wing t. Who can make the most big plays and limit turnovers.

  7. Regardless of who wins or loses, this will be a great game! I think both teams will come out showing some new things on offense and will be successful early on. I think this game will come down to who can adjust on the defensive side of the ball first. Good luck to both teams, and may the best team win to represent WTN in the state!
