  1. I'm a Macon County fan and I didn't take offense to that shot. Should she have shot it.....probably not. But I really didn't think she intended it to be anything disrespectful. I thought I noticed #24 trying to get her to hold it right before she shot it though. But either way, this Macon fan wasn't bothered by it at all.

Its the Championship game. Both teams fought hard. McMinn Central made a few more baskets and a few more defensive stops. I don't think they left any doubt that they were the best team in the state in AA this year. Their lone loss was avenged in the tourney.

  2. Congrats! Best team in the state in AA and you guys proved it through the season and tourney. Beat some really good teams....and most in decisive fashion. Losing #11 will hurt, but you definitely have quite a bit of young talent returning. Hope to see you guys next year in the tourney!

  3. Congrats to McMinn Central on its first Gold Ball! Macon County played a great team yesterday and came up short. I'm just proud that they made it to their first ever championship game! Maybe we can meet Central again next year sometime.

Oh, both these two teams have a fairly young squad with talent. I know Adams is graduating, but 24 is one heck of a ball player. Several others looked good too. Maybe we can see these two teams go at it in the state next year.

  4. Congrats Macon. And Congrats to the Lady Crusaders for a great season. There will be days like this in everything you do and today was one of them. Shots weren't falling like they have all year and a few coaching questions but thats life. Good Luck to rest of the teams in the tournament and to the 2 time state champs Liberty boys next week.

Thanks! We jumped out early and Liberty just never seemed to recover until making the run late in the game. Luckily for us, we had built enough of a lead to keep them down. Liberty definitely had a cold day shooting though. Good luck in the future. Maybe we will meet you again soon.

  5. After watching North Greene, I have become a fan of them. Those girls really get after it! I know most are expecting Wayne County to win....but I am gonna go with North Greene in this game. If they play like they have been playing the past two games, I think they have a great shot at bringing home the title.

I know one thing.....I am a Macon County fan who is definitely making sure I'm at the gym to see this game! Should be a good one!

  6. Little boy isn't it your bedtime?

LOL....that the best you can do? He makes valid points....although the refs did kinda get picky today.

I just hope that the refs will stay consistent either way. If you are gonna call all the hand checks and little contact fouls, call them from the beginning to the end.

Oh, and its DEFINITELY past my bedtime.....in case you were wondering! Just a little excited for the games today. Good luck to McMinn Central tomorrow. I hope its a great game and the fans get to see some awesome ball!

  7. Well, I have thought throughout this year that McMinn Central was the toughest team in AA. I can honestly say that I wouldn't have wanted to play anyone else in the finals. Sure, Macon County will need to play great ball to be able to beat them. But if you want to BE the best team in the state, you need to BEAT the best teams in the state!

Good luck to both teams tomorrow. I hope it winds up being a great game with both sides playing giving 100%. I'm sure the gym will be PACKED!

  8. That's Priceless.......I love that reply...."just because you get an opinion today" I'm with you, lets just play the game out and see what happens.....Maybe this idiot will keep us entertained until game time.

Hopefully Macon Co. plays a little better than they did against Manassas. We had problems hitting foul shots and we were making several bad decisions dealing with the pressure. Maybe it was just first game jitters on the big stage. Hopefully they come out ready to play today or they might have a rough time.

I believe that Macon can pull it out though. Would love to see them make it to the title game.

    GO MACON!!!!

  9. Well if Liberty is that much better than Manassass I guess them beating a team in sub-state that beat Liberty twice this season was just a fluke huh?

EXACTLY! Sure, that doesn't mean that Macon will definitely win....but so many are predicting Liberty to be a much better team than Manassas....when Manassas beat McNairy by 8 and Liberty split with McNairy in 4 games. Me thinks that many on here just havent seen Manassas play. Manassas had a great gameplan against us. Tried to rotate out to keep fresh bodies in and press like crazy! He tried to wear our team out. Plus, they had several girls with some height. Not our best game against them so hopefully they pick it up against Liberty or they might be going home.

    Go Macon County!

  10. I'm hoping Cannon and Macon are playing in the championship! I don't know a lot about Liberty, but Macon, Cannon, and McMinn Central are about dead even. Cannon beat McMinn earlier in the year by 9 and McMinn beat Macon by 7 so all 3 teams are very evenly matched and could win on any given night...

yeah, most everyone is sleeping on the other side of the bracket. But Macon was in the game with mcminn until the final period when mcminn finally put it away. If I remember correctly, macon was ahead at the half and McMinn was ahead by 1 at start of the 4th. So it was a fairly close game. ANY of these teams left are capable of winning on any given day. So, every team better bring their A game.

  11.

    Just sour grapes

This pretty much sums up your post....but thanks.

Oh! And yall got BEAT by Manassas (by 8pts I believe), but somehow you have it in your head that you should've won by 25? I will have a double shot of whatever you had.

Thanks for the prediction, but I am pretty sure we will just play the game out and take that result. I doubt we will just hand the game over just because you get an opinion today.

  12. Liberty. Size and athleticism. I said that for their first round game and they won by 20. I expect this one to be closer. I'll say Liberty by 12.

After seeing both teams, Manassas had more size than Liberty Tech did. Doesn't mean the same outcome will take place, but overall I felt Liberty was a much smaller team than Manassas. Hopefully it will be a good game but I will go with Macon in another close one.

  13. sounds like LC might have been looking ahead too much. Many have been on here for several days talking up the second round game.

Thats what concerns me in the macon county game today. Many have been predicting Macon to win by double digits....but this is state! Anything can happen and all these teams have done what it takes to get here. Should be a great day of BBall today though. Go RBS and Macon Co High!

  14. Not me. Why does it take 2 weeks to play a state championship tournament? The boys and girls state should run concurrently like it does for softball and baseball. I'd be more likely to support both if it were run that way.

    Wake up TSSAA.

Eh....I'm not complaining too much on how they run the tourney. I think its always worked pretty well this way.

But to each his own, I suppose.

  15. It bothers me when all the other schools are more excited than Jackson County's. We have a lot of support but not a lot of excitement. I'm not sure but I don't think there is even a pep bus going to the tournament. I guess that is just a by product of going to the state tournament 10 of the last 13 years.

Yeah, I can kinda understand that....but that's not a good thing. Not bringing a pep bus? Why wouldn't they? Looks like the administration would make sure that this happens. Sure, people have a tendency to become complacent in situations like this.....but you would think that the community and students would still rally around this team. Its a HUGE accomplishment, no matter how many times you achieve it.

  16. I hope both towns come support each other and it worked out great that both teams are playing back to back...I wonder if it was planned <_< . I expect a lot of people from Lafayette will get their early for RBS and a lot of RBS fans stay after to watch Lafayette play.

I can tell you that I will be there for the RBS game. Plus, most of the others from Lafayette (that I've talked to) say they will be doing the same thing! Should be a GREAT crowd for both teams!

  17. Scotts Hill may be a small town (Class A), but you can count on Scotts Hill having a huge crowd. Scotts Hill will probably have the largest crowd in attendance on Wednesday. Good Luck Lady Lions.

Hmmm....interesting. I will still say Macon County has the largest on Wednesday. But I'm guessing we are BOTH partial to these two teams. Guess we shall see. Sounds like the place is gonna be packed though! Should be an awesome day of basketball!

  18. I can understand most of your logic. However, it might be a stretch to characterize Hampton and South Greene as Betsy's marquee wins. Although the district was weak, we played some decent out of conference teams. Regardless, that's why they play the games...

OK, I'm sure its been answered A MILLION TIMES here....but who is Betsy? And why does she seem to be the only girl playing on Etown's team?

  19. I will assure you that Macon County will be representing well tomorrow! RBS plays the 2:30 game, then Macon County High will play the first AA game at 4. So back to back games for the two macon county schools. Should be a large crowd there to support BOTH teams.....I know thats where I will be!

  20. Congrats to Macon County on making it to the tournament. Macon County, as an actual county, will be taking 2 high school girls teams to the state tournament, Macon County Tigers and RBS Bulldogs...how many county's can say they did that?

Macon County got a favorable match up to make a run at the state championship...good luck to these girls and hope they can bring home gold to their school!

You are right, swanson! And if they CAN say that....how many can say ALL their HS girls teams made it to state? Seeing how we only have two High Schools, I think thats a pretty good average!

Good Luck to RBS. I'm glad we have back to back games. Hopefully this county will pull together and show some AWESOME support for BOTH these teams!
