  1. That's what I thought........I only remembered him at FSU as a freshman and last year at Tennessee at a sophomore.

    I was wondering where I missed a year /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

He spent a year at UT before he was eligible athletically, which should have cost him his sophomore year of eligibility. Last year was his junior year athletically, making this next year his senior year. You forgot the year he had to sit out under NCAA regulations.

  2. I was just throwin in Ryans name to see if i can get the " Alcoa recruits" people to start coming out of the woodworks early /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> This years team will be very impressive and in my opinion could be one of the best senior classes weve had all around since Warrens class graduated. My senior class is loaded with talent and leadership. Should be an interesting season

Hey now, you can't forget that class of '08, we were small but we put them '10 youngsters in their place haha.

  3. AT64: Great point on Womac. That guy has/had a motor. I wish he would consider playing further. On the money with Cline as well. Cline was fantatstic and fun to watch. I will miss his play greatly. As for Josh Evans, do you mean Derek Evans last year's starting right guard? Don't forget big Marcel. He should play on Saturday if he has the grades.

Ah good catch on the Evans thing, I always get his first name screwed up since i call him by his last haha. But yeah the kid's definitely got the physique to be a dominant player, and he's got a good head on his shoulders too, never hurts. And yeah Big Cellie's another guy who should be able to step up big time this year. I was a little concerned with the O-Line play at times last year, they didn't seem to be as consistently dominant as we have been the past few years, but if all goes well come next fall we should be lookin at a solid front 5 which always bodes well for any team. Games are won and lost in the trenches boys. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  4. I'm shocked no one mentioned Adrian Womac as a pair of shoes that need filling. He may not have gotten the attention T-Rob did but he was as consistent a D-End as I've seen. His side didn't get run on and he was a heck of a football player. Daniel Cline's another guy I thought was underappreciated last year, made plays consistently and had a couple of games there where he looked spectacular. Look out for Josh Evans this year on the O-Line, he's a heck of a kid and football player, got the potential to play on saturdays if he steps up the next couple of years.

  5. I mean really, who have you guys played that's worth anything the past 20 years? A large group of nobodies is the answer. Oh wait, you did play Maryville last year and got the business. Other than that you play nobodies. You can tell that when you all switched coaches and Alcoa continued to win games. That's a sign that it was never the coaching or a great and sound disciplined team. Heck, when a team like SPring Hill is the toughest on your schedule (other than Maryville) includeing the playoffs what team of pure athletes wouldn't win? Year in and year out, AE plays against some of the best in the state. And as far as AE not being disciplined, go over to the school and watch how they run practice and workouts. It's like a machine. By the way, Coach Graham has practically a brand new staff on both sides of the ball. So don't act like AE is just a bunch of undisciplined thugs because they're not by any means. I tell you what Alcoa, if you all want you show us little people how disciplined you all are, schedule some tougher non-conference games next year and actually win them. Until then, quit riding the players and coaches at Alcoa. Beep!!! Beep!!!

First of all Spring Hill has never by any means been the toughest team on our schedule including the playoffs, I can tell you from firsthand experience the first year we played them they were one of the easiest. Since you decided to bring the schedule into the discussion I'll tell you that the toughest teams by far besides Maryville the past few years have been Goodpasture, Milan, McCallie, Fulton, and Huntingdon, 3 of whom have won state championships within the past 5 years or so and 2 more who could have easily taken state if they had played any other 2A school in the state IMO. Next, I wouldn't call a single digit loss to the eventual state runner-up in 4A (side note: that 4A state game last year was insane) getting "the business", I'd call it a hotly contested game with 2 high caliber programs duking it out down to the wire. Much closer than AE's 45-0 drilling in the quarterfinals last year by Catholic /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> . Also, from firsthand experience again, coaching was a big reason behind Alcoa's success the past few years, contrary to your opinion. Let's not forget that before the arrival of Coach Reid we didn't even make the playoffs with players like Dustin Lindsey and Brandon Warren, and the weight room looked like a tornado had come through it (the bad kind). And with Rankin's arrival the whole program hit a new high, the results may have been similar but believe me when I say Gary Rankin runs the tightest ship I've ever seen, and I'll ask you kindly not to imply that his coaching isnt a part of our success because he's a guy I respect and admire deeply. That said, I'll again say that I hope AE suprises me this year because although I'm an Alcoa fan first, I'm a plain ol football fan at heart and it's always fun to see 2 top tier programs trade blows.

  6. hey, that's 8-2 I'll take it... We, as in AE, want LAME ALCOA /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Oh by the way chalk up a W for the FUlton game.. and the OOOOO TA WHY (LOL) that's a W in my book as well.. So that means 9-1

"lame" Alcoa will wipe the floor with AE if they end up playing, no matter how you slice it. The bottom line with AE has always been discipline. Great athletes, very little discipline. I see their players on highlight reels with jerseys untucked, call me old fashioned but thats a sign of an undisciplined player and it wouldn't fly at any top program in the state. It's the little things like that that pile up and turn you from a great athlete to just a kid with some wasted talent. And I don't care if you field 11 All-Americans on both sides of the ball, if they aint disciplined, Alcoa WILL beat em. AE could suprise me and pull a 180 from years past, but I wouldn't put money on this "reloading" turning them from a program with a lot of wasted talent to a state power overnight. That kind of transformation takes at least a few years, don't get too big for your britches just yet Turtle. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> If they can get it together you can count me among the pleasantly suprised, I'd like to see this program put their athletes to good use and become yet another east Tennessee juggernaut, just as long as they lose to Alcoa when they play haha.

  7. Too bad Willy B or Heritage won't step up and get whooped, but I guess there's no upside to gettin an annual beat-down from a school less than half their size. It's a shame they ruined the whole Blount County rivalry though, only upside is we get to see opponents of a higher caliber. Fulton, Bell, etc. Hopefully some other schools will step up to the plate, I hate seein us get cheated out of an extra game because no one wants to play the best. I think we got em scared...

  8. Dead period applies to coaches having contact with the players doing training outside of say, a weight training class. We always lifted right after the season in class because well, it was a class. And we still worked out during dead periods in the summer but we did it on our own, no mandatory sessions, no coaches, and outside school property, which is within TSSAA rules.

  9. Sam Thompson has offers from Army, Wofford, UTC, UT Martin, Harvard and Columbia(because they dont give athletic scholarships I believe the last two offers are offers to sign a letter of intent).

Chase James has tons of interest from MTSU, Marshall and some other D-1 schools. the only holdup is waiting to see how his grades shape up.

Adrian Womac- Tennessee Tech and Columbia both would like to have adrian although I am almost positive he is just going to go to school next year and not play anything. Hes a great player, even better student and even better young man. Which that can best said about a number of alcoas seniors this year. Good luck with whatever you decide guys.

In my opinion Adrian is probably the most underrated player on Alcoa's team. You don't see him out of position much and he locks down his side of the line. I also think he's a little more consistent than T-Rob is. I could see him playing at the next level.

  10. Here is how it works, to my knowledge.

If you live in Alcoa or Maryville you pay both City and County taxes. Therefore you can send your kids to either the City or the County school. If you live outside the city you must pay tuition to attend. If you played sports at a previous school you must wait a year to compete. Same system we played under when we had losing seasons.

Absolutely correct. It's been the same throughout the good years and the bad years. I myself was a tuition student who was zoned for Heritage and I can tell you this is the current policy and always has been.

That being said not all the tuition students are "recruits" as some would like to believe. I was never recruited at all and I don't think I know anyone who was. I transferred in in 8th grade because my dad and his two brothers all played at Alcoa and I didn't want to go to a school with a large population, not because someone came to my house and asked me to.

That being said I'd like to once again congratulate them Tornadoes, keep it goin Class of 2010.

  11. I gotta say the most impressive part of Milan was Avery Williamson. Me and a couple other friends who graduated last year were really impressed with his play. He sure does know how to lay a lick.

That being said way to go Alcoa, bringin it back to the A once again.

  12. Ok..i guess what Alcoa needs to do when you have visitors is hand them a sheet of paper with your festivities so everyone will know what yall are doing. I have no idea what "Too Hype" is and I am sure no one else did either..this is silly to even being discussing this....end

Not trying to stir the pot but that really ticked me off. Most of the time bands arent even playing at that point and I'm sure if someone had been paying attention they would have thought "Hey, they seem to be doing something right now, lets not play loud as all get out and interrupt them." Too Hype is a big part of Alcoa Football, it will always be special to me, so don't even try to brush it off as "silly" to be irked about. Next time be more observant.

  13. I love the renovations that Alcoa has done to your stadium in preparation for this game! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I KNOW you didnt just deface Goddard with that lame excuse for a photoshop. ITS ON NOW SON.

  14. Im sure every team for the past 4 years have said the same thing when they played Alcoa....this game will be close for a half but Alcoa runs away in the second.........Alcoa is just Alcoa....4 straight to prove it...they dont overlook people in the playoffs......

They have been saying it week in and week out. For 4 years we've listened to teams run their mouths about knocking us off but we just keep bringin back those gold footballs.

The fact is that Marion doesn't look to me like an Alcoa calibur team. Sure you might talk about playing as a team or having a good gameplan or having a lot of heart, but Alcoa has all those things in spades, plus a ridiculous amount of talent. I just don't see Marion being able to keep up with us. Sorry to all the Marion faithful but I gotta go with my gut.

  15. The great Tornado in the story depicts the entire Alcoa team... In the real story Black Elk destroys the mighty tornado by himself... Knowing not one Warrior alone could defeat the beast we know as Alcoa I gave credit to his band of Elite Warriors that halped him in the great battle to tame the feared Tornado...

I see. I always enjoyed these types of stories, Native American history and such. But I'm glad to see you recognized our fearsome power and adjusted accordingly. I hope Black Elk's Warriors can give us a good game on Friday. Judging by the way you guys are talking them up it should be a good one.

  16. Nohope made a post similiar to this one on another thread but will repeat it here. SOME THINGS JUST NEED TO BE REPEATED....Great post Whopper /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> .....Beginning to get the point Ambassador. You're not wanted here.

Dang near forgot........Marion Wins........the Friday game I mean...........We've already lost this darned picture war.

We've got some talented photoshoppers here in Alcoa. Nothing to be ashamed of haha.

  17. For your info I know quite abite. For starters MC runs the veer, which you have to backs split in the back field. We run the ball a lot and when we throw it its a big play most of the time. Our D is a 3 - 5 - 3 which has helped us a lot this year in being able to rush the passer. I think we will beable to stop alcoa it just depends on how well our running game goes. We have some very talented players on our team, but we don't have a standout player. As you know though most teams with players like that (SOUTH PITTSBURG) don't play very well as a team. We play team ball and thats how we have gottin as far as we have. Alcoa will be in for a fight for 60 minutes I can assure you of that. GO WARRIORS!!!

Splitback veer eh? We don't see a whole lot of that around here. Should be interesting to see how Nix gameplans for it.

Oh and Alcoa plays excellent as a team. Having been part of the program I can tell you selfish players don't last in Rankin's system. It should be interesting to see how these guys match up.

Well anyways I hope it turns out to be a good game. It gets tiring showing up to all these games only to be done by halftime. See you guys there.

  18. Ya we shall see about that so called certain doom.lol

Just wondering M4L but have you contributed anything other than small trite statements such as this? I mean at least the other Marion County fans attempt to have intelligent discussion about the game, I doubt we could search through your posts on this thread and find a single one that has an ounce of thought or effort put into it. But oh well I guess there will always be uninformed posters who contribute nothing worthwhile.

Anywho, to you guys who actually seem to have somewhat of a clue as to what you're talking about, what kind of offense does Marion run?

  19. Does anyone have the newschannel9 interview link? I watched the interview with Coach Boeck and a player and I was shocked. Coach Boeck mentioned that Alcoa isn't near as good as they have been in the past. He also stated that Marion-Jasper feels like they can beat anyone in the state right now. The kid then made the statement that Marion-Jasper would go to Alcoa and show them how to play "Valley Ball" Maybe Alcoa isn't that good this season. I hope not, after these types of statements were made about them. Sometimes these types of things have a way of catching up to you. Goodluck to Marion-Jasper, but I think these statements that were made just help add fuel to Alcoa's fire and they usually never need any extra fuel.

I can tell you from personal experience that that interview and the select portions you mentioned are most likely posted all over the locker room at Alcoa and will attract the ire of many a Tornado. You'll most likely hear stories from players about getting rocked by an Alcoa player and then being taunted about "Valley Ball." At least thats how things would have gone down last year. I'm assuming things haven't changed.
