  1. I heard he was sitting under the shade tree with you. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I think the hicks down there think they are better than everbody else, hows that for an upper sullivan co.reply?

I think it was you jacking your jaw that got this nonsense started in the first place.I would say you are probably J.Parkers dad . /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

See if you had a CLUE to anything you would of known J. Parkers dad was not at that game! When you call us hicks it just shows how IGNORANT you are! Get A Life Pal! Good Luck to the 4 Teams remaining!

  2. DG is a legend in his own mind if there ever was one!

The tourney should have been played at D-B. For that matter, it should be played there every year.

OMG, LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL see my point exactly!

  3. I would say most of you on here are proud parents, I have been to many games and have never seen any team parents "run" fast after a loss. Come on, be positive and support all these boys, you never know, we might see great things come from any one of them. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

OBVIOUSLY you missed one then. I support these boys 100%. Its the parents at cetain schools who act like they are soooo much better than county schools. We all know who they are. If you werent there and OBVIOUSLY you werent you have no reason to comment on this.

  4. WHOW!!! Now that is what I would call an OLE-TIMEY A-- Whopping 12-1. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Back at ya! Got your OLE-Timey A** Whooping Also! WTG REBELS! Bet those DB parents ran fast.

  5. How bout Volunteer? Will Ritz be fired over that loss? How do you lose to the last place team and say your gonna win conference?

The age-old question has finally been answered. What goes good on a Ritz? A Hawkins County A** Whooping. WTG Falcons on an exciting game. We wanted to tell DB parents good game as they did us at DB but word was they were on 11W before Parker touched home plate. Never seen parents leave so fast. Was it that embarrassing for you? STILL CELEBRATING AT VHS!

  6. The Death Match ended in Volunteer squeaking out a three point overtime win. Both teams at times were sloppy but they gave their all. Volunteer finally hit their freethrows, going 5-6 in overtime. Cameron Trent probably saved the game and had two BIG blocks with under ten seconds to go. Crockett seemed to be headed for their first victory against a conference foe, jumping out to an eight point lead in the second quarter, but the Falcons erased that lead and held a five point lead of their own at intermission. Crockett made a run in the third and took the lead, and it went back & forth the rest of the way. Turnovers were rampant in the fourth quarter. Next up for the Falcons are the Hilltoppers. GOD Bless & good luck......

WTG Falcons on an exciting game! It was nice to see Stevie Wonder coaching the Falcons! Please keep your singing gig, cuz the coaching was horrible. Coaching was worse than Bradley reffing. Good Luck to All the teams this week!

  7. A point of clarification, I did not ask easttnboy to apologize...for anything. I didn't use the word apologize at all in my post. Obviously I have read every post on this thread, so much so that I wish I could redeem each viewing for frequent flyer miles and vacation to a warmer climate. I know Volunteer has been slighted more than any other school in the Big 9, you know I know that. My advice to keep an open mind is based on the notion that not all of us from 'up the road' have degraded or made negative comments towards Volunteer, it's coaches, it's players, or it's fans. I, personally, don't speak for or against the Falcons program. If anything I have sympathies for Volunteer as my girlfriend is an alumni of the school and resides in Mt. Carmel. I understand it's hard to keep an open mind when others knock something you support down, consistantly. One closes themselves off, however, when they see any comment or mention of that thing you support as negative. At that point, you are viewing things through stained glass. You have a right to be perturbed with us yokels from 'up the road', but regularly viewing everything we say as an attack (thought it does seem the majority are) takes away from your perspective. I'm interested in your incite, not necessary your ability to defend yourself and Volunteer. In essence, let your guard down a bit, don't argue with those who you can't change their minds, and enjoy the thread. Before you reply, consider my points for a moment. Take it or leave it.

I was talking to Easttnboy that he didnt need to apologize. Kinda defensive there huh? So are we now "clarified"?

  8. I stand corrected! I remember when van huss came over to talk to me before a game one time and that ment more to me than anything at that time. He was a special man(from the old school).

Sometimes, people make accusations toward people. Just like a lot of the comments on this message board says that we are a bunch of redneck hicks, hayseeds, etc., if you come from Hawkins Co. I apologize if any was offended.

I don't think you need too apologize for anything. Everything you said was so true. If Tricitiessportsfan would go back and read this thread there is more dogging of VHS than any other school. And I would bet big money on that. I think your judgement is correct. Its hard to keep an "open mind" when people up the road knock you down soooo often on coacht. Good Luck tonight to all teams especially the Falcons!

  9. There are really no consistent players like a few years ago. Bennett is the only one with any experience from last year. The others are feeling their way through this season. Even without Bennett next year, they should be a lot better than this year. It's unfortunate for Bennett, but that's how life is sometimes. I've watched Bennett since he was in the 7th grade going to camps with us. SENIORS!!!! Time flies and in a week and 1/2 it will be down to win-or-go-home situation. ENJOY & GOD Bless..... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Sorry Stokomo I have to clearly disagree with you for the first time this year. The reason Bennett had the experience is because Coach Whitt had just a 2 man team last year. The plays were set up to go exclusively to Cradic & Bennett in almost every situation. We sure havent won many games this year but its been GREAT to see Team Playing this year! I wish it could of been implemented in previous years so these kids could of been more prepared this year. I see it looking no better next season with 5 seniors graduating this year and again not much "experience" coming up from JV. Congrats to Aaron for his 1000 pts last night. He is a great kid and we have enjoyed watching him play these last 4 years.

  10. All this talk about Coach Witt at Volunteer and his coaching methods is deserved. What a piece of work he is. Does anyone remember the Dobyns Bennett game last year involving Marshall Harding?? The big white haired kid from Volunteer was escorted to the locker room after the hard foul on Harding. The coach is the problem not the kids.

Yes how can anyone forget, it is brought up anytime Volunteer has a game and there is a foul called on us. It was a year ago please get on with your life this is an old subject. When our kids are hurt and taken away to be stapled up we can get over it and not spend as much time on the subject as you and many other people do. Life is too short. Get on with your life.

  11. I'm very surprised on the TN High/Volunteer score, especially with Volunteer having so many players sitting out. What happened to TN High? Were they looking ahead to Friday nights game vs DB?

It was a good game by both teams. Both times we have played TH they were close. Can't understand why people can't go away with the feeling it was a good game. Kids played hard. But people with no life (Cap, Plowboy,Wacojaco) have to run home get on here and trash Volunteer. Guys get a LIFE. What if these were your boys that were getting trashed? Good job to both teams!

  12. What a bunch of GOONS!!! /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> This Volunteer program under Whitmore continues to be a problem year after year and I think it's about time for someone to take action on getting them removed from the Big 9!!!!! There was another team that couldn't win games without back yard redneck antics back in the 80s and they were removed from the conference as well...and have never been allowed back...that was Erwin (Unicoi). In Whitmore's interview he doesn't even comment on how wrong and embarrassing the action of his (and Crockets) players were. As a matter of face he said "We went on the road and faced adversity,'' said Whittemore. "But we were able to win and I am proud of my kids.'' WHAT....PROUD OF YOUR KIDS??!!!!!! /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> He shows his hand in that comment...WIN...by any means necessary. This guy is out of control....basically a BIG KID leading high school kids. I don't see why the parents of these players don't see the writing on the wall and have him removed. I say kick them out...we don't need a goon squad in the Big 9 and as long as Whitmore is coaching, that is all the Volunteer program will be. By the way...I saw the clip on the news last night and if 15 seconds of video is worth a thousand words...the message would be, OUT OF CONTROL GOON SQAUD!!! /sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />

One more thing...we have all had to deal with the poor officiating in this area so that is no excuse for resulting to blows out on the court. I will agree though that somethings got to give with the inconsistency of these officials...they seem to have adapted this "lets keep it close" philosophy. Who were the officials of last nights game?

Like I said last night if you werent there you have no horse in this race. So Cap stop calling names you have no clue as to what happened. We have tape of Crockett throwing the first punch. Do you expext the recipient of that punch to take it and say thank you for putting me in my place? If so you are the biggest wuss I have ever come up upon. The team getting off the bench was wrong but they were defending their "teammate" as they should have. I challenge any player out there to tell me they would of sat there and let there player take that beating. Turning the other cheek just aint gonna happen in high school sports. Not once did you happen to mention that Crocketts coach had already gotten a technical and they had a fan thrown out. No with you Cap its always dogging Coach Whitt and the Falcon program. We are so sick and tired of your ignorant comments on this thread. I would NEVER get on here and talk about other programs as you have ours. Like I said you werent there so please keep your ignorant comments to yourself.

  13. Oh I'm sure they have already been contacted! We have 7 kids unable to play a very important game tonight against South. Yes the rule is if they were on the floor they are ejected. At Crockett if you step off a bleacher you are on the floor. The Crockett student section was on the foor all night. Hard to believe only 2 kids were ejected from Crockett. I still have no idea why they wouldnt watch the tape. There were boys on the floor who made no attempt to get in this brawl, but were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I hope they all learned a lesson from tonight.

  14. I have no clue why she was not kicked out. Maybe the refs just wanted to get out of there. I do not blame them one bit.

I'm not one sided. I do not have a child who has attended or will attend David Crockett. I do not work there. I do not have any family members there. I just go to support the team because I live in the community. I'm not an upset parent. I simply go to the games to watch and support.

The coach needs to keep his student-athlete's best interest in mind. The way the game was and the way both crowds were acting I do not see where anyone can judge him for getting out of there fast.

I wish people would not be so quick to point fingers and take responsibility for their own actions. The AD may have made a mistake. Who hasn't? There was a fight that just about got way out of hand. I'm glad the student-athletes had self control. We as a crowd were crazy.

Yes I agree, we were crazy. But he had reason to walk over and try and bully those kids to sit down. If they would of been made to sit down the Crockett student section would of gone crazy with excitement. Luckily 2 of the Washington Co. police officers saw what he was up too and didnt let that happen. Those kids did nothing no other kid or parent was doing in that gym.

  15. Upset Revenged!

    Sullivan Central - 49

    Dobyns Bennett - 88

    Final.

    Barn Burner!

    Daniel Boone - 55

    Tennessee High - 56

    Final.

    Fight in Pioneer Country!

    Volunteer - 12

    David Crockett - 20

    3:58 left in 2nd quarter.

It has been reported that a fight broke out between players on the floor, which expanded and led to a fight between fans, thus the game is running behind schedule.

No fight with fans only players. Please get the facts b4 you report them. And it was Volunteer 20 Crockett 12. Volunteer had the lead from tipoff.

  16. I will defend the Crockett AD and the coach. First off there was a fight. Second, I understand with all the emotions why the coach would head straight to the locker room and prevent a terrible situation from getting worse.

The AD had to come over because of some of the adults in the crowd. He only came over after the young lady walked down almost to the floor to yell at the ref. I thought she was going to get on the floor. After he came over with the Washington Co. police she seemed to quiet down. Mr. AD helped escort the Crockett fan out of the gym when he was kicked out. When the man returned, he was again escorted out. There is fair. If anything the bad sportsmanship came from the crowd.....both sides.

I refuse to believe that all the blame goes on the refs. Sure it could have been handled better and the calls were sub-par, but use a little self control and realize it is a game.

I'm sorry YOU are soooo wrong. Mr. AD came over and told the students to sit down. It nothing to do with a lady lady yelling at the refs. If so why did he not yell at the lady. And if it was sooo offensive why did she not get thrown out like the crockett fan? You are sooo 1-sided. Your AD is very unprofessional. When asked if the Crockett fans had to sit he said no. Why is that? But thanks to the Washington Co. police officer he told him different. Again I think the TSSAA needs to watch film of these games to see the poor performances of their refs. They need to be held accountable for their insignificant actions. I think anybody that wasnt at this game has no horse in this race to make any judgements. There is no reason why the coach should not shake hands after a game. Pure & Simple BAD SPORTSMANSHIP!

  17. Regarding the Volunteer - Crockett game :

The officiating that both Pioneer varsity teams have endured this season has been abyssmal. There have been mistakes by all the referees (as there always will be) but the trend cannot be denied - DCHS is the recipient of more insensible and unexcusable bias than should be tolerated. It seems that the mentality of almost all referees has been that since the Pioneers have been bad in the past, it is somehow justifiable to see things their opponents' way.

The scene tonight was embarassing. The lopsided fouls have been mentioned already, but let me assure you, there were exponentially more "fouls" than were whistled, and the antagonizing, baiting, clutching, shoving and the like by Volunteer were apparent in the boys' JV game too. (no surprise there) The officials let it go almost completely in the JV game, but tried to assert themselves in the opening minutes of the boys' varsity contest - and were out of position, slow, and basically unaware; hence the foul discrepancy.

The fracas ensued when the Volunteer post player (55) kicked the Crockett post player (33) according to many witnesses. I don't need to tell any regular posters how the Volunteer kids were playing. The clueless officials had no idea who to eject, and as has been mentioned, there was a tidal wave of ill will in the gym. Their collective incompetence threatened to foster a violent melee.

Sitting in the middle of the crowd, I had the sense that if indeed the parents did come to blows, the law enforcement present would have had no real means stopping it, and it would be neither difficult or unlikely for the two who were there to be overpowered and disarmed - and then mortal injury is in the cards. Mob psychology is an ugly thing.

We have got to have better personnel calling games. I am a realist. I don't expect perfection. At this point, I doubt I will watch any more the rest of the year. It is just thoroughly unfair. It is the same old story, only tonight the Volunteer volatility exposed what could happen when that veneer of civilization peels away.

If you are a realist how about telling the truth. The first punch was thrown by Crockett. That is a fact and trust me there is tape on that. I do agree the officiating was horrible! It has been all year in the Big 9. It was bad on both sides. I dont know why these refs arent held accountable for their actions. It is their job to call it fair and it isnt happening in the Big9. If I performed at my job as they do I believe I would of been fired a long time ago. They let cheap fouls go then its gets the crowd and the players more angry till crap like this happens. They should of viewed the tape at that point. They didnt see all the Crockett players on the floor either since it happen on Volunteers end. They should of been it locker room also. Yes it was an embarrassing night in basketball but all blame goes to incompetent referees. And it really burns me when people have to start with the Hawkins Cty garbage. Its old and I think you need to growup. Then the janitorial crew came into Volunteers locker room assuming the boys were trashing the locker room. Who the heck did they think they were. They had no business in there. Only to find the boys sitting there waiting for the game to end. Where was their AD? Oh yes I remember he was yelling at Volunteer student section to sit down. And why were they to sit down and Crocketts student section allowed to remain standing on the floor? Good question but police officers did tell him he was wrong. At that point there wasnt a Falcon fan sitting. Try to be fair Mr. AD, you really looked unprofessional at that point. Well probably not as unprofessional as your varsity coach who would not shake the hands of Volunteer. You really showed your players bad sportsmanship. Class Act Crockett coach & AD!

  18. First, I was a gossping old man, then I was a gossiping 90 year old woman. You can't pick a gender. And I don't know many 90 year old women who can operate a computer, or concern themselves with high school basketball. And why don't I bash SH? Like I said in my previous post, it was one game. Ok, SH I officially bash you. Feel better? SH did it for one game. Yeah every team has had a hard foul. But no team has a reputation for dirty play like Volunteer? You think everyone, me included just randomly picked Volunteer and say let's call them dirty! They get called out on being dirty because they ARE dirty. Have I sat in a practice and heard Whit tell his guys to be dirty? No, but if different Volunteer players are pulling the same stunts under the same coach, then I'm going to make a reasonable estimation that it's coming from the coach. Not to mention, I've heard a couple former players who are actually good guys say Whit's methods are a little sketchy. That's coming from actual players. The man doesn't have the talent to compete for a big 9 title so he uses dirty tactics, cheap shots, and undercuts, plus moving screens (not dirty but still not legal) to try to win, which they still don't do a lot of (winning that is). Like I said, it's not coincidence or a conspiracy that everyone complains about Volunteer's tactics. They've earned it. You reap what you sow. You wanna play like jerks, then you get treated like jerks.

So it was one game for SH & one for Volunteer but we get slammed for it. Go Figure! And you must be a special kind of Rebel to be one of lucky people to be invited to a pratice to hear Coach Whitt tell his boys to be "dirty". I've never heard Whitt having an open practice to invite people to watch. But like I said you must be special. Does the short bus pick you up every morning? Like I said Facts Not Fiction.........

  19. There's a reason people get on here and bash Volunteer. First off, if you think Sciene Hill was rougher than Volunteer in this last game, that's fine, that's just one game. Sounds like both teams got too aggressive. But for a handful of years no team has relied on dirty, cheap shots, and straight-up muggings like Volunteer. I'm a man about town, and when I talk basketball with former players, or even fans, if the conversation ever goes to Volunteer it's always the same response, "Oh those guys, I hate those guys, I remember when we played.." then they tell a story about how a Volunteer player undercut them or something. This is from everyone. So, yeah, they kinda have a reputation. Their coach is a straight-up crazy man. Most escaped loons go live under a bridge, well, Coach Whit stumbled into Volunteer and got a coaching job. When a crazy coach is telling crazy kids to do crazy things, then yeah, people are gonna bash Volunteer. The game is getting a little too physical, and the Foulcans aren't helping anything by acting like every basketball game is a Rocky fight.

Ok why not bash SH then for there roughness? No...its always Volunteer. Nobody in the Big 9 has ever had a techical for an excessive foul? But you only hear when it is Volunteer. You can't wait to run home get on your computer and gossip like a 90 year old woman. And when did YOU or Anybody hear Coach Whit tell his kids to undercut? When you can answer that with facts NOT fiction then I will listen. Just a bunch of gossiping old men on here that have no clue! Give this and the future Falcons a break!

  20. Let's not get caught up in the quality of officiating or the tactics of Volunteer's coach and players on this thread. That back and forth ruined the Big 9 Conference thread last year. I, for one, found it rather annoying and it killed the purpose of that thread, keeping away those who could have added quality information, logical analysis, and reasonable banter. My suggestion for those wanting to comment on the things mentioned above, create a new thread and post to your hearts content.

Tired of people bringing things up from the past. I believe its Big 9 Basketball so our comments are just as important to us as your scheduling & so called predictions are to you. Remember Freedom of speech to all basketball fans even if its not your cup of tea. People get on here and bash Volunteer alot and they are no better than than anyone else. These kids have played good games against DB & SH they deserve a little more credit. Good Luck to all the teams tonight!

  21. I don't agree with their either. The difference is SH slaps and Vol hits. SH will just lean on you and slap your wrists. Volunteer will put you in the wall or hit you in the face.

I believe basketball, especially here, has gotten too physical. The problem is with our officials the players do not know what they will call. They will let you bang inside and then will call a touch foul out front. They players are confused by the lack of consistency not only in certain officials but especially in a game because the officials are not all calling the same things. The other night I saw a game where one official would let you bang inside and the other would call it a foul. The game was different according to who was down low.

My thought: Call it by the book and clean it up. Rough foul, throw them out. They did it to Walton, why not all teams.

Your thought is absolutely STUPID! How do you think he got the staples and busted lip???? His team mates didnt beat him up before tipoff! Think before you get on here and make statements as ridiculous as that. We didnt get on here and cry when this happened to him. Get off there case its old. BTW Science Hill got technicals for being cocky. Great Sportsmanship! THUG Basketball at its Best!!!!

  22. Proud of the guys from VHS last night! It was an exciting game on both sides. There wasnt a DB player that wasnt a bit nervous by half time. I think people will look at you guys more closely. Great to see TEAM playing, something they lacked badly in past years. Good Luck this Friday, Beat those Chiefs!

  23. I'll agree that this years Falcons do deserve to be looked at with fresh eyes. But I came away from the Unicoi game with the impression that this years group looks no different from the past few years. I kinda lost count, but it was something like 1 technical on Coach Whitt, and 2 flagrant fouls on the team.

So did you happen to watch the whole game? Falcon player had to come out of game because his strings were hanging out of shorts. Thats when it all started and ended for them. Clock was running during free throw shots. Gotta love that home cooking from Unicoi Cnty. Unicoi fans were appaulled by rec. league refs they had that night. And Floor get out of the past you have been ranting on this subject of rough players for way too long. You are BORING us to death!
