Not quite the defense of 2011, if you ask me. No one scored over 14 all season and post-season and that was mostly against the JV. Tough to match that front 7. They held Ridgeway scoreless almost the whole game in the quarterfinals and the Roadrunners had 6 or 7 D-1 players on offense that year.
And trying to impeach Trump will ONLY make the GOP stronger! Just my two cents.
Is my memory of 2011 correct in the lack of first downs? Hard to believe now but they made me a fan on good defense.

We haven't heard from FactsOnly in a while.
But here are some facts.
Since 2007 Henry County has a record of 129 - 29 with 2 State Titles and a 3rd title game appearance.
They also have a playoff record of 29 - 10 in the same 12 year period. That is why Henry County Does Not need you to defend them.
Although your efforts may be sincere, they are very counter productive.
I find nothing unFactual here.

Such spirited banter!
I haven't seen so much since the days we'd predict a running clock every Friday night, then we'd do it! I don't recall so much infighting though.
I have 3 real questions:
1 I've heard the comment that this defense compares to 2011. What I recall of 2011 is there were no first downs against the starters until the playoffs. Seems like big shoes to fill. Anyone (Olddevil) have an opinion about this?
2 We have historically had a fragile secondary. What is your (Olddevil's) idea what the difference is now?
2 And a question specifically for Olddevil. Is it a good idea to impeach Trump? Might he come out of all this stronger like Clinton did?
3 What is Red Warrior's impression of this team. He is a retired coach from the Memphis and Mississippi area and knows more about HS football than anyone except Olddevil.
4 Finally, will PatriotNation get re-instated or is he gone from Coach T for good? Yanker, I'd particularly enjoy your impression on this topic.

I would feel better about this one but I think our coaching staff has gone mad.
Is there any truth to the story the defense is on homebound classes so that they can practice from 10a to 4p in the Hatchie bottom? Has anyone heard about the mosquitoes and won't their legs be tired come game time?
I do not think this was a good idea at all. Some of these kids probably don't even have hip boots.

I don't remember seeing this many encouraging comments at this point in past years. Will there be a kicking game too?

Not sure what the TSSAA verbiage is, but the NCAA rule is pretty simple. According to Rule 6, Section 1, Article 2 (Rule 6-1-2-a):
"After the ball is ready for play and for any reason it falls from the tee, Team A shall not kick the ball and the official shall sound his whistle immediately."
Thanks for that. I'm sure it is the same for high school. If not, it should be.

Can someone weigh in on whether and why the ball blown off the tee, but kicked anyway, is a dead ball? It is already on the ground. I've read the internet and can't find anything.

I'll address some of your musings:
The band - the band director wouldn't allow the whole band to come back. Funds?? I don't know, but they "allowed" the drumline to come. Either way - proud of the kids that showed up
How many times can a helmet come off? Good question - he claimed he was constantly getting pushed in the facemask and no call. He also lost his temper and got a flag in the 3rd or 4th quarter for that same issue.
The "onside kick". Nope.....as the kicker approached the ball, it started to fall forward off the tee, but the kicker continued with the kick anyway. Correct call.
Your "score" in the endzone. The HC player didn't have control of the ball when he was hit...and landed on the edge of the rear boundary. Correct call.
Running into the kicker call - I disagreed and thought it should have been roughing the kicker. But it is what it is.
I was complementary of the band. Hope it didn't come across otherwise
I suspect the helmet issue was strategic on our part...just having fun with this comment
Onside kick trick play...again, just kidding. I can't say I know the rule but trust the 18 or so referees do
It is not necessary to have control "when hit". My seat was in no position to see whether he had control, nor was the replay. I take your word for it
I hope the kicker wasn't nearly injured when he was "roughed"

Musings about Knox Central
1 Best defensive line I've seen since 2011
2 More impressive with the wind at their back than facing the wind
3 How many times can one dude's helmet come off in one game and why did it make him so mad?
4 First band I've ever seen with no horns and they were very good despite
5 The secondary was as good as advertised
6 CONGRATULATIONS! You earned it.

Musings about the referees and the wind
1 The referees missed our only successful trick play. The one where we did the successful onside kick while pretending the wind blew it off the tee. It got called back. I'd protest the game on that one play alone
2 In is an enigma that the wind was so strong that pretty good looking punts would blow back to the line of scrimmage but would allow the flags thrown by one of the dozen or so referees to stay in place so that could be picked up to use over and over again
-
Musings about referees
1 I think we had a touchdown that was missed (Harrod)
2 I think we had a blocked punt that was said to be "running into the kicker"
3 I counted 12 referees completely decked out in stripes and I think there were another dozen or so in disguise. How many does it take? We were way outnumbered
-
Musings about the weather
1 Not sure how I feel about rescheduling a game for weather
2 The wind made for a miserable experience
3 Some older fellow, who seemed knowledgeable, said that when the flags are flying sideways, the wind is 30 mph
4 Neither team scored with the wind in their face. HC won 9-0 running down wind, KC 14-0 running down wind
5 What is wind anyway? I heard it is that warm areas make the air rise and other air rushes in to take it's place. This wind was coming from the direction of the sun, so I dispute that hypothesis.
6 No disrespect to the older fellow and his wind theory, but when the sun is shining on a 74 degree day and you are freezing, there is too much wind and you don't need flags flying sideways to know that

Perhaps, however I do believe y’all are underestimating our secondarily. I’ve watched your QB, he’s good no doubt. But our secondary has played outstanding all season against some very good QBs. We shall see I suppose...
It will be a long night for us if y'all stop both our running and passing attacks. The usual high school team generally can't do both. I take your word that y'all aren't usual.

c'mon man. there are always guys to step up. show some red pride and show some more optimism. we've got plenty of talent. plenty of sophomores getting time this year to add with our juniors who have stepped up big. may be a little more one dimensional then this season but thats never stopped us from having great seasons
Yep.
This time last year we had a kid who'd been a part time QB at best and unknown quality on defense and the skill positions.

I guess “The Closer” is too bland a nickname, but it sure suits him well, cause that young man is built for the 4th quarter!!
One of the more impressive sophomores we’ve had in recent memory IMO
Jaylen Kendall is a sophomore too I think.

Think a lot of it has to do with game script. Parrish and Thompson hooked up for a long score early in the Kirby game and it seemed to open up the run after that.
Yep, strategery.

#2 couldn’t complete passes to open receivers early in the game so I guess they decided to use #4.
Doesn't make sense, at all, to me. D-1 quarterback recruit taken out of the most important game of the season when it is tied?

I’m pullin’ for the Tigers. They’re practically family.
Me too.
They are a little noisy but if everyone had posters like kwc and the senator, Coach T would be a better place.

Heck, Beech is a winner in my book regardless of the outcome in Paris. Frankly, they were fortunate to beat Summit in the first round. But something seemed to click after that and they’ve played two of their best games of the season the last two weeks, particularly on defense. My guess is this coaching staff would’ve been happy with 6 or 7 wins and maybe a first round win with the inexperience this team had coming in. They will start somewhere around 16 underclassmen (6 sophomores) and give it their best shot. One thing these youngsters do have is the benefit of growing up in the Shackle Island community and knowing that this is what Beech football does-go deep in the playoffs. Much like the HC kids do I’m sure.
We're getting old I guess.
There was a time you'd tell us how ugly this game would be for us. Of course, y'all had Jalen Hurd and it really was ugly for us.
Looking forward to this game and hearing y'all's assessment.
