  1. I love that my simple comment about holding the ball created so much banter. The only reason I hope it doesn't happen again is because I was bored out of my mind! At the end of the day I don't really care if they do it again, we won! HA. All DL comments have not one thing to stand on, not one, because they got BEAT. End of story, and tomorrow night it continues. I can't wait!!! I'll be the one in BLACK!

  2. I don't really think Maddux can be blamed for Hunter Miller getting sick over the summer and David Anderson having two surgeries and then getting injured again. You can't blame Maddux for Z Mason deciding to play or not on any given night. What really happened is the 24/7 basketball mentality of these three players finally caught up with them. You can't blame the kids either. If you're going to "go for broke" then you have to sell out and give it 24/7. You can't blame Maddux for graduating (last year) two seniors that were the perfect compliment to these three great players. You can't blame Maddux for the TSSAA's screw up at the state tournament last season. You can't blame Maddux for running off good players that should be playing (like a few years ago). That hasn't happened. If anything, new players are coming out of the woodwork at CPA. It's already ready starting to happen.....the kids want to play for him and you will see him build a future powerhouse at CPA (if he stays).

So for me, if Maddux, through all of this, manages to rally the troups and pull off a district title and maybe even a region title, then he is without a doubt "coach of the year" in 9AA. Talk about overcoming adversity. Either way, he's still a great coach that will see many more great seasons. If there is any one thing that Drew could improve on it would be talking to the refs less and coaching more. He's like having another really smart man on the floor when he's got his head in the game and not on the refs. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

CPA takes Hume Fogg tonight 54-40 (I believe, I was so excited I didn't bother to check). They will see David Lipscomb on Tuesday night for what promises to be an exciting game. Let's just hope DL doesn't hold the ball again, I don't know if I can take that mess again.

    Let the debate begin...

  3. I don't see how any team could beat CPA if CPA played their diamond/one full court press defense, then a zone on the half court. A team would have to hit 1/2 their 3's to beat CPA playing a zone (assuming Z played defense hard). With CPA in a zone, it is too hard to get a quality shot or rebound in the paint against them.

A 1-3-1 with Z under the basket and Anderson crashing the boards on every shot would force a team to hit outside shots.

Just my opinion based on watching them the last 3 years. They seem to struggle this year when they play man-to-man against a quick offense.

Anderson was held to only 3 last night...it made a huge difference. Chapman had 9 and Taylor had 6, all at very critical points in the game. Miller played well but I can't remember how many points he had, something around 20.

  4. I wasn't at the game tonight either, and was also very surprised when I heard the score. Ezell lost to Pearl-Cohn and lost by 23 to DL last week, while CPA looked dominant in it's routs of FRA and McGavock last week, which makes this even more strange.

I was expecting crimsontide to be on this one already. Where are you crimsontide?

CPA was lacking defensively tonight, more than ever. Several sloppy turnovers and missed opportunities including free-throws allowed for Ezell to lead by 10 almost the entire 3rd quarter. Ezell couldn't miss and knew every move CPA made. It was a great game, even though it wasn't supposed to be. Hopefully the Lions will show MLK the team we saw last week.
