  1. SS they are going to be tough at home! If we could actually play a 3rd quarter, we might have a shot! My picks: 1st Round: Campbell County over Clinton AC over Hardin Valley 2nd Round Powell Over Central Halls over Campbell County Karns over AC Semis OR over Powell (hate to say it) Halls over Karns Final OR over Halls Consolation Powell over Karns Let the fun begin!
  2. Chill, are all the other rounds at OR?
  3. It wasn't an overly bad officiated game, I did see some calls the 1st Q that were a little ticky-tac, Coach Greene got a T early. I think officials were keeping in line. Don't know why either.
  4. Should be interesting, 3rd Q got Powell, OR played inspired, we only scored 6, 3 on a last second prayer. Hopefully we will get to go round 3 next week with them for the rubber match, gotta get by Central 1st.
  5. It was, didn't hang long.
  6. Good game for OR tonight, proved they were the best team in district. Got some clarification on the Shoffner deal from someone close to the program, OR sent tape to TSSAA, they ruled the 2nd technical was a bad call and overrode the decision, thus clearing the way for him to play. Glad he did, he had a good game, almost got the dunk.....
  7. I will be there too. Shoffner deal is interesting. Again, he was ejected for a 2nd technical foul, may have clarification this is not unsportsmanlike by TSSAA definition, I just don't know. If it is, and he plays, then what happens? Forfeit of all games he played in? Fines? Really could throw a wrench in things. I heard through the grapevine he should be suspended 2 games. The game tonight has a lot of implications on district, along with up the road at HVA, you never know what could happen in a rivalry game at home. Also, not to offend Chill with his usual spot on stuff, I heard 2nd tiebreaker for district this year is record vs lower seed opponent. Since Karns lost to Central, OR losses to Powell and Karns, means they hold the tiebreaker, which from my chair assures them of the #1 seed in district. This means they don't have much to play for seed-wise, just revenge against one of their losses this year, and Senior night (can't forget that). It will all play out at the end of the evening anyways......
  8. Sonic, Thanks for that. Without being at the game, and using Basketball rules, he was ejected for a 2nd Tecnical foul, I am assuming. If the technical foul was related to unsportsmanlike conduct, I would assume it would have to be reported, not sure since I am not a registered official. I would hope OR got clarification from the state before playing Spencer. As for Corcione, I know him and have watched him play, and the jawing he does doesn't differ that much from other schools, DragonB, I saw some of your kids jawing bad in our games. 15-18 year old kids are going to do that, heck watch Kevin Garnett and many of the NBA elite. It's part of the game, same as the Halls student section. Do they get out of line sometimes, probably, but to show that kind of support is commendable, to some degree. Officiating- now that's another story, there was a post related specifically to this and I agree, some of it has been pretty bad this year. If you've watched area games long enough, you know the ones that are going to call it right/consistent and those that don't. CC-may be at the CC/Central game tonight should be interesting
  9. Good, will see you tomorrow night SS. I know OR has a lot they are playing for, we sort of do, 3rd vs 4th in district. What's a shame is the top 4 teams in district have seperated themselves so much from the rest of the pack. On a side note, does anyone know the district schedule next week? Assume Monday the 6-9 and 7-8 games will be played, then unsure after that.
  10. It is shameful when refs, instead of the players, decide the games outcome. OR won, but lost since Spencer will be out Friday and 1st district game. I have seen some good, some bad, many inconsistent, especially between girls and boys games. We will talk more when district is decided!
  11. Shame about Shoffner. What are the tiebreakers for district? Powell/OR seems to determine all 1-4 seeds.
  12. Multiple comments: 1) Badman-you are right, Halls has played with balance, cockyness/confidence may come from the huge student following they have shown this season. I personally think its great, and that's from a Powell fan 2) CC & SS- has been a pleasure bantering on this board also, no real ugliness (see other boards in some instances) 3AAA has been surprising strong, emergence of Halls and Powell has been unexpected, along with Centrals recent play. 3) SS- Beat Halls!! Gives us a shot at 3rd, maybe even 2nd, I think you clinch district with the win. Karns still has to play Campbell County and HV (a rivalry game). We still have to come to your place on Friday, sure you have revenge on the mind, we actually have something to play for, will make for a fun game. 4) District 4AAA fans- Watch out for regionals!!! Off to the gym to watch Senior Night!!
  13. I just hope its the same game as the first one, meaning tight, well played, and decently officiated.
  14. Central score really surprised me, what a great atmosphere at Powell tonight!!! Will make our game next week Friday even more interesting!! Shows anyone can win on any given night. SS, I will be cheering for you Tuesday and against you Friday!!
  15. Powell vs Halls, all I have to say........ It was an interesting game last night at AC, Powell up by 12 with 3-4 minutes, and Torres willed them back, it was basically Torres vs Macourek 33 for Tanner and 28 for Joey, Foul line saved Powell, I think they went 8 for 8 the 2nd OT.
  16. That is a good win! We bombed against Central, similar to what you mentioned vs Halls for you guys, we were absolutely awful from beyond the arc, I counted 5 of 29. Can't rely 100% from beyond the arc and expect to win consistently. Look forward to coming to your place in a week and a half.
  17. Only time will tell, as I said, the games still need to be played. I sure would like 2nd or 3rd in district. We hold the keys to do it. Will be cheering for you guys Friday and next Tuesday!!!
  18. CC, I concur. We hold our own destiny, last 2 district games will tell the tale, with Halls at home and OR at their place. I think we match up better for Campbell County than Halls does, we at least have some size (not much). I thought our rebounding, especially against a taller team, was good and a key factor to our win. I think any team would like to face the 6-9 seeds, a definite line between them and the top 5. DB, as far as your comment, I agree also, a lot of 3 ball, no motion offense, except Halls, but they can have a tendency to hoist the 3 also, but they have a balanced score sheet. Teams seems to try and rely on press (Karns) or athletes (OR). Any 3AAA team is going to be hard pressed to go any further than District, the size in 4AAA is much better. But you still have to play the game. I know I will be cheering for CC the next 3 games (you do have a tough road!)
  19. I will be there as loud as ever.....
  20. Thanks Chill on it as always!
  21. Could be true on the bye piece, I'm not 100% sure, just know what's been done in the past. Looking at the remaining schedule, I think you are right on the above match ups. OR still has to play at Halls and ends with Powell. Karns doesn't appear to have another challenge, although CC played them tight, but the game is at Karns. 6-9 seeds are pretty much set. As with any game, any team can win on any given night. Will be interesting the rest of the way. CC comes to our house tomorrow and will be a key measuring stick for both teams, I know 1 player will be back for Powell that was not part of their win at CC.
  22. The 8-9 seeds play then it goes 1 vs the winner of this game and so forth.
  23. I certainly not a Halls backer, but I think they are a solid team, ranked top 10 in the area. Will see where Karns goes after tonight's game vs. OR.
  24. CC-Hope the game was as good as the score looked, called the upset special!! Students can really pump the team up, also see You Tube. Makes our game in 2 weeks very interesting, assuming we get through all the next few games, we took care of business tonight against HVA, was a game that scared me a bit, since they had some players back that were out the 1st game. Also makes Friday's Karns-OR game big, big, big. Will see what Karns is made of, I believe. I think OR is a team on a mission after the loss to us a few weeks back.
  25. I see an upset special here, the game is at Halls and their student section is one of the best in the area, they were a factor in our game, and can see them making a difference. Karns did a poor job against us defending the perimeter, and with Moore and Froning, they could make them pay. I think it comes down to beating their press, a team that does that should win. Wish I could be there!
