As most of the Hampton fans knows, the team is in exelent hands, the coach knows the game and he also knows his players, thats a big part of coaching , you have to know you;re kids. Anyone that don;t trust the coach or his desisions don;t need to do anything but look up his record in his years of coaching, it might surprise you. I'm saying this for the few, most people know who they have. Now he is apt to make a bad desision at about any time, thats what humans do. The only people who don't make mistakes are the ones who don't do anything. I also think most people at the beginning of the year would have been really happy that Hampton would go 10 and 1 at this point in the season. They can lose at anytime because all these other teams come to win to. Sit back and get behind the TEAM ,That means coaches and players, they have all put in alot of hard work and effort. I'm sort of proud of the whole outfit. I know alot more than the average fan would know ,but some things are better kept to yourself. Desisions are made to better the team. I think thats what we all want. At least ,thats what it should be. Play for the name on the back of the jersy. Seems like someone already said that. We need to be as one and unified. Thats why its called a TEAM.GOOOOOOOOOOOOOBULLDOGSSSSSSSSSS

Pujo you hit the nail on the head there. At this time in the year anybody can beat anybody. And our fans need to wake up a little. We are slacking on giving these boys support. I aint that old but I know what it means to be a bulldog. We have a winning tradition here at Ole Hampton. I have been told that people use to dread coming to Hampton. They knew once they came through the double bridges it was going to be a rough night. People dont think that anymore and I think part of the reason is that are fans aint like they use to be. We get behind these boys like we need to it is untelling how far they will go. DAWGS have a good week of practice, coaches keep their heads straight(i know you will). Boys tighten those sholder pads, strap them chin straps and lets get fired up.

I don't question his coaching ability but the only td pass was still thrown by price I just think you are taking away a very big weapon in ward out wide.

Logan Andrews blasted holes all night tonight (keep it up we loved it) this game was really dominated by the dogs Tellico had a few plays but mostly was going backwards! Great line play and great hard running, Ward did a good job but I believe the dogs are more dangerous with Price at Qb and Ward at wide out what do the rest of bulldog nation think on this subject?

I honestly think bret is a much better running back than qb also wards a really good passer but also great reciever. Its just really good to have 2 really good backs in the backfield with over a 1,000 yards plus lunceford knows what hes doin so i think theyre in the right spots.

I agree 100% Lunsford has done this a long time, and we as fans need to back him and the team no matter what happens.

This was a hard fought game for both teams. I thought both played good. I was told that some people from TP that over here in the EAST it was POWDER PUFF football. Well you were wrong. At HAMPTON there is no such thing as POWDER PUFF. I also heard that you were glad with your pick, coming to HAMPTON. Next time you might want to use your words a little more wisely. Odell is a pretty good player and TP is a tough team to beat. All in all, I want to say great job DAWGS you played good, just keep it rolling next week against Rockwood. I also thought that the changes that the coaches made were great changes. Logan Andrews look pretty dang good at the full back spot and had some great blocks. Dont get me wrong the whole team looked good, that was the only thing that stuck out more than anything.

Hampton did not play great last night, but what do you expect. Hampton only had 2 of their top 8 out and the other 6 are in football. These 2 would be hughes and hill. Of the ones that were there last night these 2 are the only ones that have ever been in a V game. But dont get me wrong East is a good team and should be tough in their conf.

For the JV game East had no freshman there. Hampton played with 7 Freshmen because that is all they have right now.

They went 16-1 and the one they lost was against Unicoi County at the horn.

I heard Doug Phillips wasn't there, neither was Danny Mcclain ,but I think he missed alot last season because of his job. Doug has been a big part of the Coaching staff for many years.

Well I heard that Phillips was still coaching, and I dont know anything about Mcclain. This is still a great coaching staff. As far as the players and practice, I am hearing great things.

GOT MANHANDLED! HAHA no sir. the only time that the big boy scored from Hancock was off a jump shot. And not to mention he was a good shooter. I will agree with you on one thing and that is that Andrews is Physicaly big and he does PLAY WITH A LOT OF HEART, but i have never seen him get manhandled on the football field or the basketball court. He had that big guy boxed out plum to the softball field. Oh great job by the fans on tonights girls game and i hope we have all of you all out for the boys game tuesday night. Congrat to the girls, go get us a Regional Championship.

Hancock is better than people think they are. With the right coaching and if they decide to actually show up, they could easily beat anybody in District 1. Last week while watching the District 2 consolation game, even though Hancock got beat, I was thinking the whole time that I would much rather be playing Washburn because it seemed like if Hancock ever decided to turn it on, they would be tough...

 

 

People talk about how good UH is in the post, but I have a little different perspective on it. When Hampton won in Brooks Gym, Andrews and Hill were both hurt and neither one of them played a single minute in that game. In the loss to the Bucs at Hampton, it was the first game without Hill on the team. But the post game of the Bucs was never really the problem. Greenlee hit about 5 3's and put up 25 on the Dawgs. I mean, you can still win with Denton getting 25, but you can't win with Greenlee getting 25. My theory would be to let Denton get his 15-20, but stay in the man D so as not to let Greenlee or Phillips shoot you to death from behind the arc. If the Dawgs can hold Greenlee and Phillips both to under 8 points, they win easily...

Great point Vador. Denton is a great player and a good player is going to get his points. The thing that teams need to watch out for is the players that can come up and surprise you. If the dawgs want to win this game, then d-fense needs to be on their mind and not to mention boxing out. UH crashes the boards hard and every one of the dawgs need to find a man and have him boxed out clear to the parking lot. This game might be the best game to watch of the season because both teams will be gunning for each other.

Good points, bigdawg. At this time of year, you just chalk it as a win, and move on. Any word on Dylan? It looked like he might have only turned it, as he continued to play, although that can hurt like crap. I don't know what the name of the big guy in the middle for Hancock is, but he presented a major challenge for Logan in the middle. What was he, 6'7" or 8" ? yikes. Maybe the Dogs were feeling some jitters, and Hancock played with nothing to lose. It was AWESOME to see a big crowd like that for the game. It's been too long since we've hosted a post-seasaon game, and that kind of atmosphere was great to see. Let's hope they come out fired-up tuesday night against UH, we owe those guys a couple. Go Dogs!

I have yet to hear anything about Ward. I thought he showed a lot of guts to play hurt. Hancock did play good. They had several seniors on that team and they just didnt want to go home. I hope the seniors on Hampton's team remeber the last time we played UH. They beat us on senior night. And like you said i hope the fans come out for tomorrow nights game with the girls then tuesday nights game for the boys.

As for the jump ball rule- give every jumpball to the defense- reward the hustle or reward the pressure on the ball because the offense can't handle the ball.

I like this point a lot. the defense should be rewarded.

yes we need a shot clock and yes we need to change the jump ball and i think that the 3 point line needs to be sanded up. if there was no 3 point line then there would be a lot more d-fence played games were a lot better when there was no 3 point line.

Tuff win tonight, but good job dawgs. A win is a win, no matter how bad they played, there are no pictures in the score book. Dylan Ward was limping, but he should be fine for the next game. Josh Lipford did play great and is becomeing a great leader on the court. Hughes played good and took great care of the ball. Logan Andrews did not play his best game, but this is the first game that he has played in a while where he had to go against someone that was bigger than he is. But he did score when the dawgs needed him to. The dawgs will play UH tuesday night and they are going to have to play a whole lot better to get a win. I thought Hancock played a good game, they had to on the road and play in a tuff enviroment. AND I want to shout out to the BULLDOG FANS they did a great job tonight keep up the great work.

For one that is NOT T. Andrews, he does not even get on this site bcause of people like you. Second of all this subject needs to be dropped, it is in the past. This whole deal needs to be dropped because it is in the past, the coaches asked the player if he wanted to come back, but he said no. If your such a bulldawg fan for life then why are you stiring up crap about coaches or past coaches.

I hear you man! It seems like the past few years we beat them both times in the reg. season and we get upset in the tourney's.

 

The good thing is 3 out 4 WVC games are at home. which means "correct me if i'm wrong", that if the Bulldogs win out their home games then they win the confrence. Regardless of the game on Friday the 13th @ Cloudland.

for the past two years Hampton and Cloudland have flip flopped the season games. We also flip flopped the Post season games. Cloudland beat us the first game of the year last year and we beat them in the second game of the year. they also beat us in the first round of the district and we beat them in the regional. I am hoping that the dogs play good friday night, but it is hard for a team to beat someone 3 or 4 times a year.

The Dawgs are now officially CONFERENCE CHAMPS behind Ward's 25 points and Hughes' 19!!!!

Great job Dawgs. They are really starting to come together. Lipford, Ward, Hughes, and Jones are doing a great job they just need to keep the hammer down. Not taking anything away from the guards, but my hat goes off to the post players. Hill is playing good, he is starting to look like a junior instead of a sophmore. Andrews is also playing better, at the Unaka game he came in and did his job, not to mention he was in extreme pain. This team will go as far as Hill and Andrews takes them. Down the road teams are going to start stopping our guards (they have to that is the only way that they will have a chance to win) and it is up to Hill and Andrews to step up and play like everybody knows they can.

Well we go to Bluefield for a little golf scholarship and get home sick and come home to cry to mommy! Now you try to kiss up to Jerry and get to set on the bench again. WOW full circle!! I am impressed! WE ALL WANT TO SEE HAMPTON WIN!! The players on the floor know more basketball than you do!! The freshman team knows more than you do. And by the way "genius" I wasn't trashing any of the "real" coaches, I was making a suggestion to Jerry. I have a lot of respect for him, have known him long before you were ever born. I know how much pain Jerry is in. He has a severe back problem. He is also a compassionate coach...if not he wouldn't have let you sit on the bench for 4 years!! I also knew Buck Vanhuss and trust me, you wouldn't have made a good manager for Ole Buck. First of all you shouldn't get on here and trash the players on the team, so don't look for respect from them. Secondly, thats why Hampton sports is where it is today, snotty nosed "kids" trying to act like coaches. The title of "coach" isn't given to you, you have to earn it! So keep your negative comments to yourself better yet maybe I should give Jerry a call and let him know just how people are trying to tear down the team from inside. I'm sure he would be very proud!!

Talk about wet behind the ears...you don't have a clue what it takes to play team ball! It takes EVERYBODY WORKING TOGETHER! That includes the guards, the wings and the post players. AND ALSO THE COACHES (including some of you so called volunteers or want to be's). It takes working the ball around and yes getting the ball inside! A good post game will free up your outside game. For starters, there is NO DISCIPLINE on this team. Hughes and Ward tell the coaches what to do. That needs to stop JERRY! All "some" of the players care about is who scored the most! And it's all about getting their picture in the paper. JERRY, take control of this team and your coaching staff or you will have an early exit from the tournament! And by the way, Jerry you don't have to prove anything to all the "DOG" fans, why do you put yourself thru all the agony with your back.
