  1. I like your support of Sumner Co. but I am not sure your assessment is accurate. For example I am not so sure Sumner Co. crushed HuntersLane, Antioch, or Overton. Did they have some success? Yes. Did they also have some losses? Yes. Will Sumner Co. crush Mt. Juliet.......I expect this game to be very good. Will Station Camp crush Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central, and Lebanon....I doubt it.

Don't doubt Station Camp. They are going to be good competitors against all these teams.

  2. I don't know a thing about the Wilson County teams. All I can speak of is Hendersonville, and let me tell you, this team is going to be STOUT in the trenches this season!

Our line will be unmatched next season. We have upcoming Juniors such as Joe Townsend, Cayman Russell, and Brady Kelly that are going to contribute to our line in a great way. Troy Dye will be a great TE, he is a great blocker and has good hands. Look out for this line next season.

  3. SC has talent but after losing around 25 seniors it will be hard to contend with the Wave and Commandos. The exciting thing is we don't have to drive for an hour and a half to see the games.

I think SC can match up really well with the entire district. Hendersonville also lost many key seniors and it's going to be exciting to see what happens next season.

  4. Him at D1 at C.B. now that is really really funny-beside MTSU has inked 3 CB ( 2 from Fl) stick to footie your boy like I told you and HHS is no d1 prospect bye the way tell him to log in after signing day so I can tell him I told you so.....gosh ur boy is not being looked at by anybody

chill out, your being baby lol, you dont have to be so defensive hahaha

  5. I agree with Bryce Childers being one of the best Sophomores in the state. His team was runner -up but is ranked like 26th in the country. He played on my son's team and has the best foot skills in the state by far! He also has size 6'2, but is a little too nice on the field and could be more aggresive.

I agree, I have seen him play and he has excellent foot skills and great size over opposing players.

  6. Wow, these band board posts are pretty sparse. I think more people should get on and debate!

In response to this really old topic, I'm going to weigh in that by definition, band is indeed a sport. As is golf, tennis, cricket, badminton, and even twister! I think there are 2 clarification points to be made. These will be made purely on a football vs. band basis, as that is obviously what this thread mostly consists of to this point anyway.

    1. It is good that no physical extracurricular/competitive activities are excluded from the mantle of "sport." Even though the words of the argument are only debating nomenclature, the general atmosphere oftentimes is that band is somehow inferior and therefore denied that label. I contend that, while different in its means of activity and competitions, it is still, for all intents and purposes, technically a sport, and therefore not entitled to descrimination on that front.

    2. HOWEVER! I'm going to agree mostly with Lc68 on this one. Just because band is technically a sport, that doesn't make it as exciting to watch or as athletically based as football. It also doesn't mean that band physically works as hard as football. I don't think it works as INTENSELY as football does. As a person who has been a member of a AAAAA football team AND a high school marching band, I know how hard people in band work. Many times they MAY put in more hours. Not always, however. My friends and I worked out for about 4 hours each day ON TOP of practice to maintain our competitive form during my football years. I think it's terribly obvious that nothing any band member does during its competition is as physically grueling as running, tackling, or blocking at full speed after already doing so for hours and taking numerous bone-jarring hits. Again, as Lc68 said, this is evidenced by the many extremely non-athletic band members that are found throughout almost every band.

Verdict: While band is a sport, football is a much more rigorous test of athleticism and strength. To be a starting football player in a large high school program is difficult, to say the least. You HAVE to be physically talented. On the other hand, PHYSICAL TALENT is not really a requirement for band, and nor does it stand out through means of band competition if a member DOES possess it. The standouts are those who can march up to par and display MUSICAL talent. You can be the biggest, fastest band member in the world, but if you stink at your instrument, you are going nowhere, as how big and fast you are doesn't matter other than the fact that you can competently march. Therefore, football is the athletic winner. Football is a more athletically difficult sport. If we feel we need to subclassify ourselves differently, so be it. Make up a new name for sports like football, basketball, soccer, etc. My opinion is that we don't. We should just realize that while it takes a tougher athlete to be a football player, it takes a much more talented musician to be a band member. There is no overall superior or inferior between the 2. One may make more money than the other, and therefore be dominant, but that still only measures popularity, which is a collection of opinions, and not which is "better."

To sum it all up, we should just try to get along and improve the historically bad relations between football and band. After all, football and band are 2 different branches on the same tree. They are both SOLELY for entertainment. Even up to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra or the NFL. Think about it.

This is pretty much everything I would say.

  7. There is going to be some good county rivalry. Gallatin was already enough and now Beech AND Station Camp!! I can't wait until next season! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I'm just very glad for both Hendersonville and Gallatin that the Metro days are over and we can focus on our own county. Highway 109 will be a busy road this coming fall /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />.

  8. ohh by the way i know ur name shakiel maybe? and ok since u have seen me play and cuz i have played on the same team as all of those players nice and my best friend is drew lewis and i almost went to hendersonville so u need to calm down

Shakeel Mr. Exum. And I'm glad your friends with him. Just get ready buddy.

  9. u obviously do not own a cell phone or attempt any type of abbreviations... I thought Hendersonville players would have some too.. but oh was i wrong when u were the first to start ripping on station camp if i do recall? Trash talking is part of every sport.. u deal with it. its put up or shut up. yea we got shut up but who cares i thought there would be a sense of class to not bring up a measley football score since this is a soccer message board? If u want to bring up historical events then why dont u mention the last time station camp and hendersonville met in a soccer match? im positive that station camp prevailed with a 1-0 victory over HHS. Also nice on trying to degrade me with the child comment. Once again so u can probably repeat what im saying grow up.. and put up or shut up

    Can't wait till April 10th /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  10. Actually this is jacob exum douche nice try though lol hints the name bisonsoccer6 my number

Another proof of the lack of class at Station Camp. Jacob Exum, your nothing compared to Patrick Kelly or Alex Tummons. You'll see me at the game as the egotistical fan of Hendersonville.

  11. well for u to say that is quite hilarious to be honest, that u pick apart someones message to try to down them lol funny and all of those ppl ur talkin about are personal friends of mine so calm down and just so u know football is over so get over it. So if u were to analyze a little bit deeper u would have noticed how i did not mention that HHS is not an elite team but that the colleges union and trevecca are not... so if u would like to analyze deeper it might actually help u out. Or is that the education standards of hendersonville high school? and of course im a player at station camp and i dont take to kindly to u trying to down my team. Grow up and get ready for April 10th oh and can i say, play us in basketball? or baseball? if u want to mention football we beat u last year in baseball; and do i even need to mention the thing u call a basketball team?

    *

Try to type a little better so I can understand you next time. But hm I thought Station Camp ***Players*** would have more class than this. Sure our basketball team is not doing to well, I'm just showing you an example of how Station Camp trash talked the Hendersonville football team months upon months before the game. And you saw what happened. Nothing is going to be settled until this game is played on April 10th. Before you start to irritate other board members with your low class, please stop arguing like the child you are. So leave it at that. You're the one who needs to grow up.

  12. ok so j.j. is memphis and alex is belmont and for u to talk about union trevecca was beat by union this last year so u can throw that out not tryin to talk anyone up but neither school is elite in anyway also. the whole collgeg thing has nothin to do with who will perform on april 10th i know my team is goin to be ready but the question is will hhs underestimate station camp? If so we will prevail but if both teams show up it will not be a blow out it will be a slobber knocker i promise u that. lookin forward to this game it will be a tough match

Can you please type a little bit better? It's obvious how low the education standards are at Station Camp. If you are saying that Hendersonville is not elite, because I cannot understand your text, I don't think you know much about soccer in the state of Tennessee. Hendersonville is one of the elite teams in the state. I'm not saying that because I'm a fan, I'm saying that because it's true. To say that they aren't elite is a disgrace. Those boys train harder than any other team I have ever seen. And just because Trevecca was beat by Union, it doesn't mean that Union is amazing. Union is a great university, they are just not top notch at soccer. But any student playing at the next level, I will tip my hat to them. It's also obvious that you are a player on the team. Please try and post with class, so the next time your school wont look like a bunch of dim-wits. Can I say one more thing? 35-3. Hopefully you know what game that score is from. Can't wait until the game. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
