Coaches,
Two teams are needed to fill the remaining slots in a 20-team dual tournament hosted by Middle Tennessee State University Wrestling at Stewarts Creek H.S. on Nov. 21-22, 2014. Weigh-ins for Friday will be at 2 pm on Friday. Weigh-ins on Saturday will be at 7 am. All proceeds from the tournament are split between the MTSU Wrestling Foundation and the Stewarts Creek wrestling team. Cost for entry is $250 and each team will get a minimum of 7 duals over the 2 days. There were 19 teams but one had to back out.
A college dual tournament will also coincide on Saturday with an opportunity for a small middle school dual tourney. Programs attending on Saturday include MTSU, Cumberland, Arkansas Baptist, Huntingdon College (new NCAA-D3 in Alabama), UT-Knoxville, and potentially Memphis. To be one of the last 2 teams in the tournament, please send me an e-mail to coach.knepperATgmail.com (use @ instead of AT of course).

Congrats to the Tennessee guys down in Orlando...I know the coach of Flagler...they are a pretty impressive team.
Great job in defeating 3 very quality OH teams...including my old arch-rival Perrysburg!
-
This is a great recruiting atmosphere for teams with Juniors and Seniors looking to connect with college wrestling coaches at the NJCAA, NAIA, NCWA, or NCAA level.
-
Coaches,
The MTSU Alumni Duals will be held on Nov 21-22, 2014 at the NEW Stewarts Creek H.S.
15 of the 16 teams that competed last season are returning with the 16th likely to be as well.
The tournament is looking to expand to 20 teams to give 7 duals to each team over the 2-day tournament. The competition will be held on 7 mats in 2 large gymnasiums with a college dual tournament run side-by-side on Saturday Nov 22nd featuring MTSU, Cumberland (NCAA-D2 transitioning team), Arkansas Baptist (NJCAA), Williams Baptist (new NAIA program in Arkansas), Huntingdon College (new NCAA-D3 program in Alabama), and likely Liberty (NCWA-D1 runners-up in 2014), UT-Knoxville, and Memphis.
High School teams competing:
Bearden
Beech
Centennial
Dickson County
Eagleville
Hardin Valley
Lebanon
Oakland
Ravenwood
Rossview
Smyrna
Stewarts Creek
Summit (likely)
West Creek
White House
Wilson Central
preference will be given to teams with a MTSU Alumni connection (i.e. Coach on staff that wrestled at MT or a H.S. with a current wrestler on the MT squad).
preference will also be given to teams from Memphis and Chattanooga to be able to split up the pools more even by region.
Day 1 will be Pool Rounds based on seeding. Day 2 will be cross-pools made up of the winners from each pool into a new pool, 2nd place in each pool, etc...
Cost is $250 per team payable to the MTSU Wrestling Foundation.
If interested in being one of the added 4 teams, e-mail me at coach.knepperATgmail.com

Looks like some top-10 finishes once again for TN! A state on the rise in wrestling...congratulations to all the individuals making the commitment to get better, see tougher competition, and represent their schools and the State of Tennessee.

Like previously mentioned...I am not aware of a single state in the Union that has each state championship match as the lone match during that match...PA holds finals for each place for the specific weight all at once, so there are other matches going on at the same time.
Unless you are talking about the elite of the elite (NCAA-D1 finals), there aren't many tournaments operated EVER in the manner you are clamoring for. Logistically speaking it would be very difficult to hold all the classification tournaments at the same venue and then separate the championship bouts. It would take close to SIX hours to hold 4 divisions worth of championship matches.
I can tell you that I attended both the Alabama and Tennessee state championships last season (2013) and besides the venue (AL was much better), the amount of people attending was similar, and the ability to watch multiple matches at the same time with a reasonable view of each mat was similar.
The Tennessee wrestling was better though.
Showering facilities would be nice...but in case you've never met a wrestler before, some don't even shower when they are available...in fact, I would say most don't.
-
GHouse...Cleveland (D1-AAA) was ranked for several weeks last season nationally and Baylor slipped in for awhile I believe 2 or 3 years back.
Just wanted to add to your post above...great information for anyone moving to TN.

Matches a day prior (while allowing for the 3-days straight wrestling) also keeps the guys on weight and focused mentally. I have always liked dualing the night before an individual tournament just to get the rust out (instead of it being in the 1st match of the tournament).

Sounds like a pretty good field!

Coaches/Parents:
We are in need of one more high school to fill the 16-team dual tournament hosted by Middle Tennessee State University at Smyrna H.S. on November 22-23, 2013.
The current 15 team field includes:
Bearden
Beech
Centennial
Eagleville
Hardin Valley Academy
Lebanon
Oakland
Ravenwood
Rossview
Smyrna
Stewarts Creek
Summit
West Creek
White House
Wilson Central
Each team will contest 6 dual matches over the 2 days with the 2nd day being able to wrestle side-by-side with 8 collegiate teams representing the NCWA, NAIA, and NJCAA.
Please e-mail me at coach.knepperATgmail.com if you would like to be that 16th team.

I am really astonished by the lack of respect for people that donate (yes, I consider coaches that are given a stipend amounting to about $0.38/hour donating) their time to advance the abilities and maturation process of young boys into men.
