  1. "But it does have lights."

. . . . so does a Wal-Mart parking lot but it doesn't make it a playable soccer field. :roflol:

Well, I think that's why the games are played there and not on, say, the high school football field. Apparently White County had a soccer-specific field built in a new sports complex, but football rules. Which is a shame, for they have some solid young talent (several girls and quite a few boys) and for them to have to play their home games on a field whose sidelines are 5 yards out from the edge of the penalty box just kinda stinks.

And hey, if American kids had the same soccer mentality as kids do in the third world, you could bet there would be folks playing in Wal-Mart parking lots!

  2. Coffee County might have the smallest field ever in the history of soccer, but the surface is pristine. Doesn't get much better than that.

White County, on the other hand, might have the worst field ever. Poor surface, significant grade, small dimensions--not conducive to attractive soccer at all. But it does have lights.

  3. What a night!

    Cumberland County 3 - Coffee County 1

    White County 2 - Warren County 0

With all the injury issues that Cumberland County has gone through this season, that's a nice victory for them.

White County probably has the best goalkeeper in the district, and apparently she came up pretty big for them tonight...

  4. No ins with TSSAA--it's mostly a travel issue. Going to Murfreesboro 2-5 times in one season gets old.

Plus, even though the road to regions might be easier, the road to the state tournament still runs through the 'boro. And who is to say that the district won't become a lot more competitive in the next few years as the travel programs representing the district's schools (Camp Forrest, U.C. United, W.C. United) continue to improve along with the young talent that a lot of these teams have? I wouldn't be surprised if the district has more freshman starting than seniors.

  5. McMinn County tournament results (will post as many as I can remember):

    Station Camp 6 - Cookeville 1

    Cookeville 7 - Chuckey-Doak 0

    Cookeville 6 - Sweetwater 0

    Station Camp 2 - McMinn County 1

    Station Camp 9 - Sequoyah 0

    Chuckey-Doak 1 - Sweetwater 1

    Pigeon Forge 5 - Sweetwater 1

    Pigeon Forge 0 - Chuckey-Doak 0

McMinn was playing Sweetwater when the Cookeville train headed home, and I assume they pulled out a victory. Station Camp looked very good in the morning but seemed to run out of gas in the afternoon game, and McMinn's gk kept their game close. Cookeville-Station Camp game was more competitive than the score indicated, but SC certainly had more of the run of play.
