Anybody know why they held up on Foreman tonight? Made me look like a fool. Brought a couple friends from S.C. to see him play.

 

I was wondering the same thing. I'm thinking they felt like they could win without him, and perhaps he's a little nicked up or sore, and didn't want to run him much so he'll be fresh next week.

Floyd - Fred. Sorry I am not up on my DB stadium names or exactly how to spell one of there players names. People in Kingsport think the rest of us should bow down to them and I am not standing for it anymore. I will be the only one on here laughing when it is all said and done. I guess my Jefferson County pride and confidence is just as well understood on here as some other schools but you will believe soon enough.

I never like to see a team embarrassed, but the DB coach is between a rock and a hard place, IMO. The region teams they play are not the strongest, and he has been lambasted the last two or three years for getting put out of the playoffs early. He could either let the starters play a quarter and a half and pull them, and then get beat again in the playoffs because his team is not used to playing a four quarter game, or he can worry about making his team the best they can be by playing them longer, which in turn is going to mean that the opponent gets a little embarrassed. if you felt your job may be on the line, what would you do? I would try to get my team prepared for the playoffs, as best as I could. It is not the coaches fault that he is playing in the region that he plays, but that region does not do him any favors for getting a team prepared to play in the playoffs.

 

Exactly right Jake. Coach Clark and DB is in a lose/lose situation unfortunately. For most of the games this year, they have pulled their starters at halftime or before, and have played with one foot on the brakes and are still averaging something like 58 points per game. This is not preparing the team and starters for playoff football and if they have another early exit again this year, Coach Clark will get blasted again. On the other hand, he's being accused of "running up the score" and getting ripped when the 3rd or 4th teams run a simple dive play at the end. I guess some want them to take a knee the entire 2nd half. Totally a lose/lose situation for DB.

You mean against teams in our classification? I'm sure we will do just fine. What's wrong Fat boy they not have a 4x at Wal-mart for you.

That's what I thought. Another Wal-mart bandwagon fan that comes out of the woodwork after a win. You can't answer the question because you don't know. I don't remember seeing you post one time before the game but you are all over it after the fact. what time did you get up Saturday morning and get to WAl-mart to pick up that Tribe T-shirt?

Get real dude. After watching Friday's game, I think you need to be more concerned with the little db team. I see your team having great success against crockett, volunteer and central. Good luck the rest of the way!

First, let me state again that I'm just glad you're alive - you completely disappeared after Friday's game.

 

To answer your question, we have two options as I see it. 1) we can just reload like we normally do or 2) we can recruit from the greater Boone area and pull in a cocky, big mouth, cheap shot artist like #23. On second thought, we'll just stick with Option 1.

what happens when #6 and #8 graduate? I didn't see many playmakers come in when the 2nd teams were playing.

Big DB in a blow out 56-14 end of 3rd Qtr. The refs were flag happy again. #23 for little db took a couple cheap shots and got away with it. Redemption - BIG TIME!

What do you do when it rains? Run. What is DB's offense based on? Run. What do we run? Air raid. Which Is 75% pass. Any idiot knows that rain affects the team who passes the ball more.You guys think Im trying to make excuses when I clearly stated, they outplayed us and they should win state. I give DB all the credit in the world for their win tonight. There was no questions about who the better team was. And our D couldn't wrap up. Just a bad night. You guys think you're the greatest thing ever though. Y'all need to tone down your cockiness a little. We know your good. Don't have to rant about it. Dude, if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. You'll get another chance next year at J Fred and we'll have the majority of our best players back.

Has anyone heard anything about the injuries to Swafford and Will Allan? I sure hope they will be able to play next Friday.

Science Hill has the better COACH,give SH coaching staff time and they will be something to watch.

 

WOW FUB, now I believe that's the best coaching staff I've ever seen! DB completely whacked them 2 years in a row. So how many years do you think SH will need to be competitive with DB? Clark has got Carters number - no doubt about it. Great Job DB!

Go ahead and beat your chests for now because we all know you only have about four more weeks to do so before... well... you know. Same story EVERY year... except a couple of years ago when the Tribe got rolled 42 to 0 in the first round of the playoffs and had the LOSER 5-6 regular season. If I'm not mistaken (and correct me if I'm wrong)that was the same year Tennessee High won the first ever Big 8 Conference Title.

 

Cap1 - I hope your boys show up this year and don't roll over and play dead like they did last year. They quit and couldn't wait to get out of J Fred. Had to be embarassing for you. Hopefully they will show up and compete. How do you lose to Va High in football?

Does anyone have a report from the Jamboree in Bristol last night? I know it's early and some teams are impacted by players still playing football, but who looked good? Any good team or individual performances to report?

No… wishful thinking (or hoping) would be that you could constructively contribute to the conversation.

Excuse me…. last years Viking team was far from being “the best team in school historyâ€. It wasn’t even the best Viking team in this decade. Foolish people mistake Tennessee High’s “best opportunity to win a State Title in a LONG while†with last years team being the best team we’ve had in a long time. I’m not going to go into the reason why it was our best opportunity in a while because you are fixin to get a not so friendly reminder in a few weeks. Batman you act as if DB is the only school around here that has a wining tradition. In fact… THS only has a team like this year’s team come along every 10 or 15 years or so. And with that being said we could still end up with a second or third place finish in the conference depending on this weeks game.

 

If THS doesn't play any better that they did against DB (and apparently against Boone), then they'll get beat by South at the Castle. THS was horrible against DB and absolutely laid down, acted like they didn't want to play that night. They barely beat The Hill, and we saw how good they are this year last Friday night. They haven't beat a good team yet either this year. Someone said that DB vs SH was going to be the game of the year. Wishful thinking (or hoping)!

I also meant to compliment GC and the DB staff for making changes to our defensive front line last week against TN HIgh. Inserting Hayworth and "little" Sensabaugh was a good move, considering what happened up front against South.

I'm not predicting a close game but I do think that Crockett will come out and play with some heart, unlike what we saw from the Vikings last week. I was really expecting much more from them and looked forward to seeing them run the ball "because that's what they do". Cap1 provided some expaination earlier in his posts, but something must be up with them.

 

I was also impressed with how hard South played against DB under Coach Haney, although IMO the game was impacted by the guys in the striped shirts. Not sure how they lost to GC if they gave the same type of effort. If they play with the same level of intensity against SH and TN High, I think they'll win those games as well. Boone is also very physical upfront and I predict they'll take TN High as well, based upon seeing both teams.

 

Can't wait for the DB and SH game. ROLL TRIBE!

He's gonna' say that he's now seen Greenville & DB play and Greenville is better and DB will be one & done in the playoffs.

 

Absolutely he will - so predictable. I'm already expecting it. They didn't even fight back tonight. Good thing Graham was in a caring mood or it could have been very, very ugly.

A great big shout out to our line on both sides of the ball. Going up against a much bigger Tennessee High our guys controled the line of scrimmage from the flip of the coin.

 

Big improvement in the line play on both sides over last week. Taking nothing away from Greeneville, but now it's easy to see why they looked so good when they played TN High. I guess it's hard to get prepared for the big boys when you start with East, Va High and Crockett. It showed tonight.

 

Where's Cap1 at - can't wait to hear what he has to say.

Wow, can't wait to hear what Cap1 has to say about the performance of his mighty Vikings! I thought they would at least put up a fight and be somewhat competitive. Someone told me that the Tribe racked up approx 400 total yards at halftime. The Vikings had no answer to the Tribe's running game and looked to me like they laid down. ROLL TRIBE!! Redemption!

Connell did pitch very well last night. And Kyle Brandon also threw very well for D-B - he had 8 K's. I think the youth of the D-B team showed up last night. You're not going to win many games when you have 14K's, unproductive outs. In fact, D-B had only one batter in their lineup that did not strike out. D-B had a couple opportunities to score but could not get the timely hit when needed. Sometimes you just need to make contact to move runners and score runs. But hopefully the team will grow and learn from this game because there will be plenty more opportunities to face quality pitchers down the road. Lots of ball left to be played.

Are the Guymon brothers playing this year? If not, is there a reason?

It was an exciting night at The Fred. The Tribe made several great defensive plays. The Big Eight should be very competitive this year. Minor correction NETFan - SH pitched a Sr. lefty, Wilson.

Unbelievable game by the D-B team and great coaching by Coach Morgan. This group just showed what you can accomplish when you play as a team and nobody cares who gets the credit. Take nothing away from the SH coach as he did a fine job with his young team, but it's hard to see how Coach Morgan did not get the Coach of the Year award in the Big 8. Nobody expected anything from this group, especially after they lost early in the year to Crockett. Roll Tribe Roll!!

Great win tonight by the DB Indians - nobody gave them a shot to anything this year and they end up being the Regional Champs. Outstanding coaching job by Charlie Morgan! Excellent job boys - Roll Tribe Roll!!!
