  1. Long as we're beating them...we can mow'em down.

I just love a little trash talk'in every now and then.

As long as Union City can win and even loose from time to time like the probably will in the Poplar Bluff Tournament, we CAN WALK THE WALK & TALK THE TALK.

For everyones info....Union City will play a AAAAA team in the first round of the Poplar Bluff Tournament next Thursday and odds are might loose but No Pressure on Us ( Union City).

Just getting Union City ready for the 2nd half of the season!

would like to be there today and see what union city thinks of the 5'8 chase dunn from livingston. this guy does his talking on the floor.

  2. Any Class A teams have a chance in this tourney?

    to answer your question---NO

jackson county, cascade, clarkrange and oliver springs are way out of their class. dyer county is far and away the best team from tn in tourney. question is how good are the teams from south carolina and florida. my guess is both will be very good. heard that team from florida was the biggest high school in florida. this is the toughest field thats ever been in the midsouth for the boys. your boys from white county have a descent chance cause dyer county is in opposite bracket.

  3. Great game tonight. The lead went back and forth in the last minute. Jean hit a three to give Moore Co. a one point lead, then DeMario drove down and hit a jump shot. Alexander then drained a jumper with 2 seconds to go to win it for Moore Co. DeMario did most of the scoring for Cully, as the rest of the team seemed to be having an off night. The two technical fouls really hurt Cully's chances. Moore Co. was also strong on the boards. Great game between two good teams. Congrats to Moore Co. on the win.

who got the technicals for Cully?

  4. yeah i have to agree with him.

they still have TC Capps who can jump out of the gym and they havent really lost anyone.

they are almost impossible to be beat at home, last year only Arts & Sciences could beat them in their gym.

they should be tough to beat.

not exactly right. jackson county went undefeated in regular season district play last year so i know they beat pickett at pickett. also, i'm pretty sure that albany, kentucky team beat them too.

i do see pickett with a great chance to get to the state this year if they can overcome the loss of Roddy, who is a major loss by the way. i guess we will see soon.

I hope everyone don't get on here and bash coach white for losing. He can only do so much. His girls came out flat and just didn't play to their potential. Also, Clarkrange did a good job of playing very physical on the defensive end. In addition, I do believe it would benefit the team to play some of the very talented AA and AAA teams in his area during the season.

You say Moore Co. shot 53 free throws, another poster from J.C. claims Moore Co. shot 28 free throws and did not complain about the refs,he said J.C. was outhustled and the other team wanted the game more than J.C.

sorry muff but don't think anyone has said either team outhustled the other. both teams played hard and showed why they each won their respective district title.the total of 53 was girls and boys combined. the 28 was how many the moore co. boys shot. it was a great game but total points from the foul line moore co. boys 21, jackson co. boys 1. you figure out what happened.

I agree. What happened last year wasn't right.. After most the votes were totaled and everyone saw who was going to win, they decided to revote i guess... Very strange...

Doesn't matter now. Chase Dunn deserves it this year, but it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't get it.

hadn't seen cannon play so i can't say for sure but of the rest its a no brainer that dunn is mvp. think coach martin should be coach of the year for the outstanding job he has done this year beating la and baxter.

  9. Well since I got a job,and have not won a lottery,I can't really afford to go to every little podunk gym in 1A and watch these teams play....Which by the way NOBODY can....Do you actually think the AP Poll folks go see every team play??..So,just like everybody else that has a vote in a poll,I would have to say I have experience with 3 of the teams....UC,Humboldt and Lake County, the rest would be by what I see on this web-site,in the papers or hear-say......And by the way..Moore County has a strength of schedule ranking near 100..There are only 107 1A teams..Culleoka has a SOS in the mid 20's....Maybe Moore Co needs to beef up the schedule a bit.....Moore Co is also not in the AP Top 10

i don't have a dog in this fight but i do know that moore co. beat culleoka earlier in the year. also, those sos rankings can be misleading.

  10. With LA losing three in a row, Smith County is liable to lose this game soundly.

    LA by 10

    Wildcat 1970

most of the teams in 7AA would have lost to jackson county, david lipscomb, and pickett county. just becauase 2 of them were single A doesn't mean anything. still think la is best team in 7AA with upperman a close 2nd and dekalb a close 3rd.

  11. Surely you're not blaming the problems that the NBA has on the shot clock. There are a ton of other factors involved there - the most important being that nobody believes in defense. The NBA game is the last style of basketball I'd ever watch. It's terrible. But it has nothing to do with the shot clock. Give me a game at girls AAU Nationals anytime. Or a good womens college basketball game. AAU and the college game both have shot clocks. Are you telling me that the only kind of basketball you enjoy is watching slow non-athletic girls running the four-corner? I don't think so. :) But, tell me if I'm wrong. To each their own.

like you said to each his own. however, i would much rather watch a good tn boys high school game than to watch an NBA game myself. one of the biggest reasons i even posted was because some said it would make the game more fun to watch. my response is if you like more blowouts than this would be true. also, i guarantee you that a shot clock would make some teams non competitive year in and year out just because they don't have good athletes. again i'm pretty sure this areas boys teams can't and would not compete as well with the athletes that are in inner city schools if the shot clock is installed. of course there are exceptions but there are always exceptions. i just believe that the shot clock will make kids forget about many of the fundamentals of the game and the way it was designed to be played. in addition, i see way to many games now where teams come down and chunk it up as quickly as possible and play little defense. is this what we want to teach our kids? i think not. i will teach mine that it is a team game and good teams are smart and play good defense. i will not teach them to chuck it up as quick as they touch the ball. i would much rather they learn to value each possesion and frustrate other teams by being patient. thats just me and i don't have to be correct but i believe most would think i am.

  12. No disrespect to larry, mrbasketball, or jimbo44, but I don't see the merit of your anti-shot clock argument. Correct me if I'm wrong because maybe I'm missing the point, but are you saying that the shot clock should not be implemented because teams in Cumberland would be at a disadvantage or because "less talented teams" (I guess this means less athletic) would be hurt? That's it?

larry made some passing remark about strategy. I'd like to hear more about that. Also, if his problem with AAU is due to the shot clock, I'd like to hear more about that.

But the deal with the "less talented teams" - I'm sorry, I don't see the point. I guess, if you're right, I would feel sorry for the "less talented teams" (of which my daughter's team might be one by the way depending on what that term means) but I don't see how that possible fact has anything to do with a rule that would apply to everybody.

basically heres my points: 1.)with a shot clock the coach is much less of a factor 2.) teams that don't have very many athletic kids, boys way more than girls, have a much better chance of winning versus teams that are athletic. thus, the lack of a shot clock can be a great equalizing factor. 3.) some teams just can't run up and down the court and shoot right away and play good, thus my streetball comment.

  13. First of all it would speed most games up significantly. This may be fan friendly at first but with good coaching and kids being patient some less talented teams have a legitimate shot at upsets. With the shot clock in place there would be many more lopsided games. If you make the shot clock mandatory you make the coach less significant, especially to those schools who are not blessed with great athletes. Also, the player who understands basketball well and is not that great an athlete becomes less important. I for one oppose any suggestion of a shot clock. Being from the Upper Cumberland where we are not blessed with a benchful of great athletes I like to see the coach have a shot at controlling tempo and playing those bigger schools the way he/she wants to. Finally, I believe kids that understand how to play both slow and fast ultimately make better basketball players than those who just play fast, like streetball.
