  1. Unaka's record is deceiving...they lost to Beardon 10-1, Temple 9-1, Unicoi 12-2, they forfeited a game, lost to Johnson Co. 3-2, University School 4-1 and Pickett Co. 9-2 PLUS they beat Clay Co.

Herriman lost to Temple 9-1, Cosby 9-0, Rockwood 5-2 (they lost to Temple & Cosby) and to Kingston 6-4.

Van Buren only lost by 5 to Clay Co. at Clay Co. and lost to other good teams like Forrest

I just wasn't impressed with Jackson Co. I have only seen them once against Pickett Co. and in that game Pickett was awful and the game still was close until the last couple of minutes. Maybe Jackson Co. has played much better in other games.

you say you saw jackson co. play one time and was not impressed. if you were not impressed with a 13 point win over pickett co. what does that say about pickett co.? of the 3 schools you say are better than jackson co. only van buren has played 2 common opponents. van buren and jackson both played monterey and hermitage springs. both teams blew monterey out by 40 or so, but jackson co. beat h.s. by 23 and van buren beat them by 12 or 13. i just can not see your reasoning behind the statement that they are better than us.

  2. They have beaten Unaka, Harriman and Van Buren and all three looked like better teams than Jackson Co.

just do not see that. maybe i'm biased. unaka (3-10), harriman (4-5), van buren (6-4), none of these records come close to jackson co. (8-4). also, jackson co. has 3 of its 4 losses to AAA schools and the other to a AA school. no one in single A will play a tougher schedule.

  3. teams i know of:

    jackson co.

    clay co.

    hermitage springs

    smith co.

    east robertson

    macon co.

not for sure about the rest. i think portland is also in. there is a meeting wed. morning about the tourney. teams will be seated based on their records after next tues.(12-13-05) i do know that there are 10 teams in boys and girls division.

hope they make the effort to keep district teams from competing against each other.

  5. Anyone have some info on the game?

closer than most of our so called experts might have thought. tied at the half. clay win 83-76. lots of fouls called. york had 4 players foul out and one get hurt. a very entertaining game to listen to.

  6. i've been watching high school basketball for a very long time. The game Saturday night was the worst called game i've ever seen. The calls were bad for both sides. However, after H.S. got the technical in the 3rd quarter, H.S. got most every call. Jackson Co. had 4 boys foul out and 2 others with 4 fouls. Hermitage Springs scored about half of their points from the free throw line and missed some. I think the two male refs at the game need to take a good look at themselves. High school basketball should be about the players, not the refs.

  7. First of all let me say i'm an outsider to Macon Co. However, I do know coach brown. He is one smart individual when it comes to running the style of offense he runs. Like has been stated before he just doesn't have the talent to compete in the second toughest district in AA in the state. For those of you who want to compare his wins and losses with the middle school, ask yourself if the middle school is playing the same teams? No, they are playing almost entirely single A schools and there is no comparison between the two. In closing, I don't care if you guys get Bobby Knight to be your coach. With the current talent pool and the district you play in you aren't going to be successful.
