  1. But 840 will not get past the Ladies from Dickson County! Book it as a friend of mine would say! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

What is it that Dickson has that has you so sure that our 840ers can't beat them?

  2. Are you telling me that Dickson beat Rossview two days in a roll without Rossview scroing any runs? Whats going on in Dickson, who has stepped up for them. Where did they come from.

We will meet up with one of these teams next week if they make it out of their sectionals, not sure who I had rather play.

Where are these teams weaknesses and strenghts or does it start and end on the mound for both?

  3. It was a very special night for everyone there. Kayla's mom came and talked to the Rossview team and thanked them for all they had done over the past couple of years in Kayla's honor. The girls were very moved and thankful for her kind words. The girls from both sides looked great in their pink uniforms and even Shane and Bert look good in pink. It was another typical Rossview/Dickson game coming down to the wire and Dickson winning a 1 run game. I think one of the Lady Hawks said it best after the game to us when she said, "Coach, I never want to lose but if we had to lose this was the night and this was the team I would lose to." And as a coach and competitor I have to say I agree. I think in some ways Dickson had a 10th player on the field last night and she and her team deserved that game. Dickson played hard, Rossview played hard, but Dickson was the better team last night. Should be another great district tournament this year in District 10AAA. I hope someone has a picture that was taken of both teams at the pitcher's mound last night to share with the readers on here, it was a great picture.

I just saw a picture of the nights game with Rossview and Dickson at the high schools home site.

  4. What! I thought they never played each other. We played with a player from there over the summer and they told us that they dont play each other. Where was this played? Why was it not posted on CoachT that is was going to happen? I am sure it was fun to watch those girls compete against each other. Must have been a heck of a game. What was the score? Who was the freshman pitcher, was it Dawson? Who pitched for Dickson?

  5. Its Quality - NOT Quantity. Standing around the field for hours at a time wandering around, watching one or two people work some half witted scheme play - well it is just not productive. Our team does not get live pitching at all untl they are in a game and expected to produce with out being prepared to produce. No defense practice as a rule, pitchers dont get to pitch, its a real circus.

Do other high schools have real practices, the type they need to have to be productive?

If you can got out and get down to business and cover it all in an hour and a half, great planning. Our school eeps our playes for hours and they do nothing except get in a few swings and run about ten thousand plays that they will never use.

  6. Ok, as I have said before, I am fan on the sideline whose daughters have played and moved on. I proudly can say one is a sophomore at local college playing softball. I however, attend as many HS games as I can. I understand what you are saying. I attend a lot of North Greene's game and I have noticed that Coach Fletcher had given her catcher the green light on calling pitches. Just out of curiousty I asked why. Her answer was this, "I trust her judgement. She has faced these girls for 4 years now and has played travel ball with and against many of them. She knows what they can and cannot hit." I know Coach Ward at Chuckey Doak is pretty insistant that he call pitches. Greeneville calls the pitches. I like NGHS philosphy. Even though, she has coached for a few years there, she knows her pitcher and catcher will make the right decisions. Maybe she is wrong. Maybe she is right. Whichever it is, it seems to be working!

I would like to see more high school coaches hand over the responsibilty to the catcher, if the catcher has the ability to make good judement and understands the reasoning behind why and when to call what pitches. Maybe, we will see more of that. It seems like the high school coaches would want to help their catchers excel and move forward. I am sure some catchers are not ready for this responsibilty too.

  7. I got a chance to see this game tonight and I have to say I was a little shocked that Lincoln County won. I thought it would be a close game but did not expect Lincoln to pull it out. Great job to both teams.

  8. Have other people noticed that alot of the really strong pitchers during the summer are not as effective during the school season. I know the competition is not as strong. So maybe some do not push themselves as hard as they do when the competition is stronger during the travel season. Or is it the difference in pitch calling? I really think alot of it has to do with the sequence of pitch calling and not using the each pitchers individual best pitch.

What are others thoughts on this?

  9. Not sure how you want them but I can give the middle tn kids that continue to stand out.

Courtney Elrod, Bre Thomas, Megan Lane, Lauren Keele, Paige Neely, Cheyenne Kulper and Taylor Deason. I am sure I am missing a few, may not have seen them all yet with all the rainouts! I will get to see a few more team this next week in the snow!

  10. Dont put Creekwood out in front so fast! They have players dropping like flies over there. Nobody is happy with the coaching or with each other. Alot, of chatter coming out of there about all the disgruntled parents. People moving just so they dont have to play here another year!

  11. Looks like alot of talent this year in 10AAA. Northeast beat Rossview, looks like they picked up where they left off last year. What about the rest of the teams how will the district standing end in May?

  12. I put my nose to the board and have discoverd: No coaching change. Meg Kilgore is the junior that is not playing this year. The pitchers taking the load are Edwards (Jr) Keel (jr) and Cara Wilson (soph) plays TB for Crusaders. Apparently, some folks credit the TEAM mood to the leadership of not only the coaches but the sole senior Kyndall Newberry (one of the coaches daughters). While others credit it to the determination of the players themselves to prove they are contenders. The players all seem to know, understand and accept their roles. Thats the one thing I don't comprehend. How a team gets that accomplished. Best of luck to this group! I will be keeping an eye on this progam this year.

  13. Great to hear when a program turns things around. Not sure what players they lost. I know Dickson had a state title in the early 90's. Who are the players that will help make a difference for them. Was there a coaching change, or have they all just come together?

  14. Who are your favorites from Tn. to qualify for the 09 ASA nationals in 14U & 16U age divisions?

    And why do you think they will likely qualify?/popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

16's: I would have to agree Thunder should capture a birth early, I beleive the remainder berths will go to the following Fury, Thunderboltz and White Lightning. Having more berths this year will really open things up!

  15. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Who all has signed with colleges and who has given verbals? I heard Tia from Kenwood has signed with APSU and Hailey Elliot has given a verbal to an Arkansas school. Congrats to these two young ladies, anybody have any more?

  16. Speed never goes into a slump, so who are some of the fastest girls on the basepaths this year?

SPEED is great, but sometimes speed does not make the best baserunner. I do know a good speedster with a good feel ot the game at the is Hanna Trainer at Ravenwood.
