  1. Sorry all. I too went back and looked @ TSSAA site and saw that FB Class above a column. I did think that I had heard others around the baseball fields say that classifications would be the same as football changes. You know though, why would it change for only one sport? In looking at the top 16 teams in the super regionals for baseball this year only 4 would be in the 5A class for football and the other 12 would be 6A, and the breakdown in AA is just about the same. What that tells me is that the larger schools dominate in their respective divisions. Assuming that this is why football changed, Why not other sports? If you are a public school of say 2000 and your district foe has 1300 you should win most matchups with more arms to choose from. The 1300 school may have 2 aces, but the 2000 will probably have 4. Neverless there are changes this year in all sports and will change a lot of dynamics. GO KEES in all sports.

Not crying, but imagine Catholic with total pop. of approx. 600 students competing against schools with over 2000 students. I may be wrong, don't think its going to be pretty. Ouch.

  2. I will talk about Knox Co since those are the teams i am most familar with. Farragut will be Farragut. Huge losses with Powell, Stallings, Cooper. But next year still looks favorable. Strong pitching from both sides of plate with Pfeifer(L) and Williams ?®. Big sticks in the middle with Williams, Bennett, Delmonico. Not sure how deep in pitching they are or how strong defensively they will be. But that being said, they have to favs to repeat as district champs.

Bearden lost most of their starters and two quality arms in Copeland and Potter. Pitching will be a huge question mark and Hullett, Stallings, Keene must step up. I have heard its a small Jr class, so they may slip back in the pack a little. Best i can tell, have to replace entire infield and catcher. But give Buckner credit, he figures out a way to be in the hunt.

South Doyle will ride Kirkland. Probably best hitter in this end of state in several years. Above average pitcher. If they can find a solid number two, they will give people fits.

Sevier County. I am totally impressed with the turnaround and progress Traywick has made at SC. I think these guys will be really dangerous next year.

Powell returns the nucleus of a team that won the district championship. Strong lefty on the mound, solid defense up the middle. If they can hit even a little this team will repeat as district champs.

Halls is a total question mark. Halls athletics is seemingly in a tailspin. Football was highly touted last year, and finished with a horrendous record. Baseball was supposed to make people forget football and they were awful during regular season. They did make a nice run in district tournament. Lost good senior class including Wallace who controled the game from behind the plate. McConkey will have to step up and provide leadership. Can Burton be "the guy" on the mound?

Central, nice run in 2009, probably middle of pack in 2010.

Knox Catholic appears to be positioned to compete in their new district. Lost Irwin as their number one, but Anders returns and is a better pitcher. Not sure who will replace Irwin's big bat in middle of order. Below average team defensively all year, and appears upcoming players average like departing players. One thing Catholic did do well in 2009 was hit. Can Sullivan get an average team hot at right time two years in row?

CAK. Rode Kolinsky hard all year. I don't see them being competitive in 2010.

West. How many sub .500 years can West have? I think the Travis kid is special behind the plate. not enough pitching, not enough hitting. Another long year on Southerland Ave.

Just the rambles of a casual observer. Any body else weigh in on Knox teams?

Can anyone tell me what Catholics new division looks like for next year? Is it 6A like football, and only play 5A teams in the playoffs, or is it still just 3A? Confused!!!!!

  3. Google or yahoo or whatever the name and do your own research.

    Find the "appeal documents".

    It made me SICK!!

And he should be glad it wasn't MY Daughter!!!!!!!!!!!

A human who would have been involved with such a "despicable act" should not have had the opportunity to have played high school football at such a prestigous high school or any high school for that matter.

Did I mention that he shouldn't have played High School Football? If he hadn't played, would he be recruited?

    Something is wrong here?

After reading the "appeal documents" this kid should have not been playing High School football.

He should have been at "ONLY" til he was at least 18-19.

IMO; Tennessee made a big mistake.

There are too many kids across the state, the southeast, the country who have done it the right way.

I know some (maybe many ?) will disagree with me. But before you do.........do your research......and please let's don't discuss the details of the events.

Sure is was a terrible act. He seems to have his life turned around and going in the right direction. I'm glad Catholic took a chance on this kid and did'nt turn their back on him. There is no telling what direction he would have gone in if they had'nt accepted him. My hat off to the administration for not abandoning this kid when he needed it the most. Let's give the kid a second chance. We ALL deserve one. Remember, "may the one without sin cast the first stone."

  4. What were the final rankings and anyone know when the various games that were to be played on Saturday have been rescheduled?

What happened on Sat? Who is the favorite? Dark horse? Is everyone healthy? Let's hear it guys.

  5. Two seperate issues.

First, preparedness for TSSAA meeteing. When a member of the organization is planning to make a motion at a meeting, the member secures a "2nd" to the motion before going to the meeting. This involves calling a fellow member, explaing the detail of the motion, and requesting that they "2nd" the motion when the first member institution makes the motion at the meeting. This ensures that the motion will be voted on. Catholic essentially motioned to be classified as a private school, playing public with the existing 1.9 multiplier (IMO, fair). The Principal and AD stood up, motioned, and .......nothing. No "2nd", no vote, and now no chance other than football.

Second, Page Rule. This was tabled at the last meeting. This in essence says that because of the economic conditions, a private school kid can transfer out, and into their zoned school without losing any elegibility.

    ruse?

Thank you. I personally think that Catholic boys will do...OK in the new allignment. I think they'll still be competitive. Where I think it's going to effect them is in girls sports. We have friends in the girls program, and I know there is some concern. The kids want to compete and be competitve. How do you expect a school with enrollment of 650 to be competitive with a school of 2200? As you can see I'm not a big fan of the multiplier.

Sorry guys... another topic for another day. Thanks ruse? for the info.

  6. They had to move up b/c they are illegally recruiting when they are not suppose to playing in the Public school classification. That is not truly the reason but the fact of geographics is the reason they are playing out west, the illegal recruiting sounds better with kids going to Catholic that parents cant afford it and boosters are offering to pay for the kids to go there is just rediculious and noone is doing anything about it yet!!!

That sounds like a someone who is jealous of Catholics program. How about a reply from someone who knows something. This person sounds idiotic and clueless.

  7. IrishBBall.

Nah, no notebook. Good ears though. Well, big anyway. On the doo doo dilligance, most schools will request from the candidate previous teaching evaluations. The HC's, some of which are ADs and or Assistant Principals told me that his were outstanding. Academic Deans usually sign off on those. No? Just a guess here, but it seems to line up with no reason being given for the firing because there wasn't a valid one.

I've talked to a number of college coaches who all felt that when they went to practces there, and saw kids work out, the kids used perfect technique in the weight room and on the field, and that the DC was the guy they worked through.

Bottom line is the DC held people accountable, as did Pemberton, and some didn't like it. They whined to the Principal/AD, and because they had that axe to grind, they took that info at face value, and ran Pemberton and his staff out. Now stop it. What happened, at a 70% accuracy rate is deplorable, and cannot be defended.

Catholic can't go back to DII for four years, and if the "Page" rule goes into effect, Catholic will lose kids at a very quick rate because they will be eligible day 1. What they could have done differently was have not done their "doo doo" dilligance before going to the TSSAA Board of Control meeting back in the fall. We were laughing at that demonstration of ineptitude yesterday.

    ruse?

Curious?? What is the "Page" rule. And what did Catholic do, or fail to do, to be moved to the to the next classification. Was there something that could have been done to prevent the move? Sounds like they were not prepared for the "TSSAA Board of Control" meeting. Who dropped the ball here? Someone who has insight please respond, this is very interesting.

  8. just like a grace fan.... boo hoo hoo you got beat.. get over it!!! just because you got your tails handed to you one game dont ruin a man's umpin career!! thats just pure selfishness!!! that guy might depend on what he makes umpin to pay bills!!! buy hey you and your fans have to deal with that.. YOU LOST ITS BASEBALL THE RED SOX LOSE TO TERRIBLE TEAMS.. IT HAPPENS JUST MOVE ON AND DON'T WINE ABOUT IT!!!!

Hey Grace, try winning something before you start a petition. Your progarms are pretty much a non issue. I know you're try to build something, but try having a little class when doing so. Rude, unknowlegable, obnoxious, crybaby fans in all your sports is not the way to generate much local support.

  9. Did anybody hear about that kid for CAK last year, he was a sr but it was his first year of track and he started out running a 2:18 in the 800, and by seasons end he was running a 2:01. His name was Kitts i think, but wow anybody know about those coaches at CAK? i think i want to run there.

Also heard he was pretty decent at the 400 and set a SR in both that and the 8 and was the anchor on the 4X8 who finished 3rd in the state.

    Who cares...you're an idiot.

  10. 63-45 Carter. They had a steady 10 point lead throughout the game. Carter dominated down low and that helped open up the game for their outside shooters. Catholic turned over the ball quite a bit. They also turned Carter over some with their press, but Carter started to break it pretty easily after the first few possessions. Catholic tried to shoot their way back in with the three, but were answered by Carter. Catholic had a hard time matching Carter's size in the post and guard speed.

Whoa, they did have an easy time. Sounds like Carter played a good game. Good luck to Carter, whoever they play next.

  11. Carter beat Catholic fairly easily. Carter played a good game tonight and took care of business and finally held onto a lead.

What was the score? If they beat Catholic easily, they must of had an off night. I know Catholic is a good team and well coached.

  12. broussard..overrated.

lucas branch...great three point shooter....if theres not a guy within 50 yds of him

daniel hood...big big man...without a single lick of coordination

ponzurick...short kid who is scared to death to take it anywhere inside the 3 point line

#22 (forgot his name) known for his dirty shots, and really hurts that team more than helps them

how they won the district? only God (or in their case, Mary) knows.

    broussard, co-mvp?

thats the biggest joke ive ever heard

If you feel that way about Catholic. Everbody else in the District must be really bad. You're clueless. Good luck to the Irish.

  13. also, i was playing against ford from farragut (ss) and he was a pretty good player, i'm not sure what year he is, but is there anyone looking at him or is he signed? he hit well and made a few stellar plays.

Could you possibly be talking about the Ford kid that goes to Bearden? He also plays ss and I think he commited to MTSU. Solid player.

  14. Taylor Broussard hit a three point shot at the buzzer to beat Scott County 56-55. The win gave Coach Hutchens his 350th win at Catholic.

Impressive numbers for Coach Hutchens. Are all of his wins at Catholic? If not where else did he coach?

  15. Did'nt mean to overlook Catholic. They've been tough the last couple years. Very good program with solid coaching. Probably the best facilities in the area. Besides Irwin and Defilese, who does Catholic have that will make an impact this year?

What is Loudon returning this year? Always tough. Will they be in the running for the District title?

    Anybody????

  16. Nice prediction FiveO, you really know how to call em. Final score at AC, 51-48 Irish.

Cannot believe AC lost again. What is happening? Someone please give details of last nights game. How did Rorex do? He usually takes over and dominates. Maybe prepping for tounament time? What's the deal? Obviously, I have alot of questions. Somebody help.

  17. Don't count Catholic out by any means. (Not that you are) They are young in some positions, but they have some players who are capable of stepping up big time. The loss of Anders hurts a lot but this team can overcome. Watch out AC. And of course with CAK you have to watch out for Kolinsky.

  18. Anders is out with Tommy John. He can start hitting only in 4 to 5 months, so maybe tournament time! We wish him a speedy recovery. I still like AC for the district championship!! Good players return and good coach.

I really hate to see this District break up. Great teams with spirited rivalries. You are probably right with an AC prediction. Tough lineup from top to bottom. What kind of pitching does AC have beyond Price? Whoever they have I'm sure they"ll be tough. What about CAK? they always seem to fall just short. I know Fromke can throw. Who else do they have? Anyone else have any comments on any of the other teams in the District, I'd be interested.

  19. To break a tiebreaker, they drew numbers out of a hat and whoever has the lowest number wins the tiebreaker and Catholic drew #1 so in this case Catholic would be the number one seed in the tournament and AC number two seed.

    Go Stone!!!

Thanks HelloMan909, this makes for an interesting week.

  20. The last time that selfish Irish team played the improving Warriors they won 77 to 40. Must have been a fluke that the Irish had 24 assist that night. As for the Stone game, it was a really good game that went back and forth. Catholic had an opportunity to put the game away as well, but missed 2 layups, a couple of put backs, and multiple freethrows. Both teams played hard it should be a great district tournament. It's a shame the T$$AA is breaking up this league. If you could leave Catholic and Anderson Co. then add a team like Alcoa, it would have been amazing next year. Oh well, good luck to Stone and the rest of the district teams this week.

Hey ScottA11, I did say from what I've seen of Catholic this year that they seem ALOT less selfish than the last couple of years. They dont seem to have that one player this year who thinks he's the star and has to shoot everytime he gets the ball. From what I've seem the scoring looks pretty even throughout the lineup. Do you know what the outcome of the district will be if Catholic beats AC? If I'm not mistaken, did AC beat Catholic first time around. If there is a tie for first place in district play, how does the tiebreaker work?
