  1. The four loss team you follow wouldn't be Fairview, would it? This new scenario has the Yellowjackets travelling to Camden in the first round. Is this the playoff mess you have a problem with? You guys beat them in the playoffs last year... just do it again.

The four losses to the 4A teams should have you guys better prepared for the playoffs anyway. Good luck to Fairview regardless of how the seeding turns out.

It has came to my attention we have all misinterpreted the TSSAA playoff system. Basically this is how teams will be seeded.

    Here is an example:

Lets say that in the 8 team quad there are three teams that finished in first place in their district, 2 teams that finished 2nd, one team that finished 4th and one team that finished 5th. There is also a wild card team.

The seeing would go like this:

Take the three #1 teams: Make a determination to see if they all played each other. If not then look at their overall records, if there is still a tie look to see how many victories each had over a team winning 50% of their games or more. If still tied there are 14 other tie breaking steps.

When the tie is broken these teams will be the #1, #2 and #3 seeds. Then look at the #2 teams and apply the same criteria. That will give you the #4 and #5 teams. The #6 team will be the team that finished in 4th in their district and the #7 team will be the team that finished 5th in their district. The wild card team is always seeded last so in this case they would be seeded 8th.

ITS NOT RIGHT. But it's the TSSAA and they will do what they want to do. I think it is a major screw job. Teams SHOULD be rewarded for being the top team in their subdivision. Teams should not be rewarded for playing in a 5 team district while others play in an 8 or 9 team one.

So here is what the playoffs would look like if they started today.

    Quad 1

    1. Alcoa- # 1 in district

    8. Johnson Co.- WC

    4.Gatlinburg Pittman # 2 in district

    3. CAK- # 2 in district

    7. York- WC

    2. Bledsoe Co.- # 1 in district

    2. Milan # 2 in district

    7. Lewis Co. # 5 in district

Coach Whitefield, why do you get on this board? I thought you took your losing ways over to Centennial, where you will sit in the stands and watch play-off teams.

Your work is done here. Although you claim to care about the juniors and seniors you left a district where Fairview would have been 9-1 and a #1 seed, just because you knew you were fired. Now you are trying to stir up more trouble. I hope that administration at Centennial knows about this....

  2. I watched the game on the webcast and I am not sure who had the better game for Ensworth. Either Orleans or the Brentwood Academy Quarterback.

Seriously, Orleans combined with that line is extremely formidable.

  3. David Isaacs record for the most win will be broke. 24 is not alot. Smith will be going into he's SR. year with 18-20 wins. He's @ 17 now with the season remaining. It will be a nice record to be broken. By the wey he's been winning since he's FRESHMAN year, also.

Too bad this isn't wrestling. Then he could be a state champ. Those pesky team sports can really hold a super star back.

  4. IMO, the only game BGA had a chance to win vs BA was the game Smith pitched. BA will win Friday night easily. Myers does a great job developing baseball players (I think he's the best in Middle Tennessee at this along with Goodpasture's coach) and they will be tough next year but it isnt next yr yet.

I will not argue with any praise of Coach Myers.

  5. Tied 1-1, Friday night will be like a good BOXING match. Tonight game saw an ATHLETIC pitcher for the Wildcats. England Smith by FAR is a kid you'll be hearing about for years, from now. 7-0 great record for a JR. The Westminster Classic in Florida during spring break he won the Cy Young award. Oh sorry BGA did win the Classic. They'll go the distance, next year will be crowing the CHAMPIONS. Only one SR. on the team. K.B., M. Moore, 44 , Marco, T-RO, and the kid on 3rd, will be hard to beat next year. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WILDCATS

I guess you will need to help me out with the "realfacts". I agree that England is a great pitcher.

BGA has 4 losses in the region and BA has 1 and there are 3 games left next week for both teams. How can Friday night be for the "district"?

Explain how it appears to you to be like a good "boxing match" on Friday, when BA has won decisively on every Friday so far this year and BGA has gotten destroyed every Friday?? It is as if the BGA pitching must fall off after the Monday & Wednesday pitchers. BGA could very well win on Friday, but I do not think it will mean a district championship and I see nothing to indicate a "good boxing match".

You could be right, but the "realfacts" do not seem to support your opinion. Too bad it is not "next year" yet or England can't pitch every game. Or maybe England could trade his "Cy Young award" for a Friday pitcher.

  6. How far from the truth you really are... I am one of the original posters on this thread who was unhappy with how this whole situation went down. I was simply posting information about Coach Harris that I had learned from someone in East Hickman country. Now you're accusing me of being Whitefield!!! Sherlock Holmes you aren't...

Who I am is a parent of one of this past year's seniors who enjoyed a lot of success under Coach Whitefield and his staff. To tell you the truth, I never really liked the guy. He's kind of a jerk, but I respected what he was trying to do with the kids at Fairview High. I didn't agree with everything he did but the program was making progress.

I am sure Whitefield is moving on to greener pastures and doesn't bother himself with reading these types of threads.

You mentioned Centennial High School... why? Is Whitefield going to be coaching there next year? Please share your obvious inside information with the rest of us.

Now you on the other hand, seem to be a little touchy on the whole Coach Harris topic... which would suggest a close friendship of some kind. What's your relationship with him? Did you just lose him as your assistant head coach?

Unlike you, I truly want the best for next year's Yellowjackets... and its coaching staff. As it turns out, there are several good men who will be coaching at Fairview next year. And to prove to you that I am not Coach Whitefield, I am wishing you (Coach Hughes) the best of luck in your new position of head football coach at Fairview High School. See, I doubt that Whitefield could bring himself to do that.

    Forever a Fairview Fan,

    blockdown

    Oh this is rich! Whitefield called himself a jerk /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  7. Surprised he can keep up with two login names. I bet (gambling reference) they are on post it notes to make it easy.

I have had enough fun reading this blog. It has become old news.

WrestleRed or Invn01, it is all yours now.

    Bye.

Reading and whining. I hope you have fun, because you have made a hobby out of it.

  8. I think the line about checking scores was related to gambling. If it is about gambling we have more important things to worry about than winning football games.

You think??? Maybe you have found something new to whine about. I think you should take action!

How is all of this crying on the message board working for you?

  9. Knife to a gun fight???? You continue to under-whelm me. I am disappointed in your lack of debate technique, although it does follow a liberal pattern. You know do not discuss the issues, make the post petty. Good job GR.

I do see a future for you as a spokesman for coach Hughes. Good Luck.

I will agree with you on Obama, nothing else.

Mr. Knife, when you try to come off as an intellectual wordsmith, at least proof read your drivel. "Underwhelm" is a single word and there is no hyphen required. Let's forget about the run-on sentence that immediately follows. What on earth are you trying to say in the next sentence: "You know do not discuss the issues, make the post petty". To get into the concept of splint infinitives, that dominate your posts, would be a total waste of effort. Just like your whining about our new Head Coach. See, I discussed the issue.

  10. WrestleRed,

Let's not distort the issue. I will not get down in the gutter with a gutter rat. My concern is for the players of Fairview not your feelings or your inability to recognize the bigger problems associated with this issue.

There is no distortion from my point of view. Let's stick with your analogies. You brought a knife to a gun fight.

There are no problems to be recognized. The last phase of the problem resolution process was implemented today. The sun shines a little brighter. The birds sing a little louder (I am loving this analogy thing you got me on). Now, it is time to put on your big boy face and let's move forward. I know it is hard. I had to do the same thing when Obama won the election. Actually, I am not doing a very good job of that. I hope you are better than me at dealing with these sorts of situations.

  11. WrestleRed,

glad to see you can use fonts.

your vocabulary is not so impressive. You might want to leave this post for those with a minimum of a high school education. It seems words with more than one syllable give you trouble

I appreciate your, what I am sure is, constructive criticism. Allow me to reciprocate. When you are trying to seem intelligent on CoachT, be consistent with your capitalization.

    Now, here, take a tissue and clean up that face. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  12. WOW.

this is surprising. I was afraid this type of decision was going to be made by Ricky Jones and the rest of the administration. I hope for the best to the players of Fairview.

This process is a perfect example of how not to run a athletic program department.

    1. Give the existing coach a set of rules that he can agree to.

    2. Force him into a corner by mandating he hire a middle school coach (who applied for the job when Coach Whitefield was hired)

    3. Conduct a search that is nothing more than a facade.

    4. Hire the middle school coach when other applicants have more experience and want the job. I believe one candidate has been at the school as an assistant coach for 10 years.

If the administration wanted to make a change, man up and tell the current coach it is time to go.

Ricky Jones should be ashamed of him-self.

I hope Coach Hughes can put together a good staff for the returning seniors. These seniors have been to the play-offs 3 straight years and deserve the best opportunity to win.

    Let's hope for the best.
