  1. I think Alcoa got a pretty tough draw with CCS ( assuming they win). Then to have to play USJ or Hume fogg will be another tough one.

Cak should be in the finals again. The semi-final with them facing Station camp or CPA should ba a good one though.

I still think CAK is bringing the weakest team they have had to state in a while so Station Camp or CPA could give them problems. (Bulletin board material for you G)

Cak in finals against the winner in the bottom. The bottom winner will be tired in the finals. Bottom alot tougher than the top for sure. I am going with my gut who says Alcoa.

cak beats farragut, bearden, hendersonville, houston, and catholic and other good opponents, yet they are the weakest cak team ever to go to state huh?

  2. only if catholic were their then none of these teams would have a chance. i liked the news paper article im glad cak cant stand looking at the runner up sign... that made my day.haha

Haha they barely made it to overtime with CAK, they scored with a minute left, otherwise CAK led the whole time then they lost to alcoa. Catholic is a great team, but due to these results what makes you think none of the teams would have a chance against Catholic as you said in your previous post?

  3. I have a lot of respect for coach Moseley. He had done a great job at Pigeon Forge. And I do understand his concerns. Coach G is a very close friend, CAK - players, parents, fans, administration are a class act. But the playing field is not fair. You can point to Alcoa beating Catholic and say it is...but look over the past 4 years and judge the outcome....private schools overwhelmingly domininate...DOMINATE...the pubic schools.

FACT: Private schools have players from Knox Co and surrounding counties. Public schools (for the most part) have kids from the local community.

FACT: Private schools can play 8th graders. Public schools cannont because they are deemed to be on separate campuses.

The problem comes to the simple fact that TSSAA doesn't seem to care. It appears that their attitude is "as long as we get 8 team (and 18% of the gate) we don't care where they come from.

In A/AA there should be some kind of merit system. Schools like Grace Christian and Berean should not be forced to play in DII or AAA while other schools might.

There is a fairer way to do this...and we should find that way.

    But that's just my opinion.

Good luck to CAK and Alcoa!!!!

Public schools vs private schools... The reason CAK has had success in recent years is in no way linked to the the fact that it's a private school. Yes, CAK has great coaching, great tradition and a great record, but CAK, unlike public schools, only have 400 kids to pick from instead of basically unlimited numbers of kids from public schools. Can public schools not have great coaching, and a great tradition of winning? I'm basing the numbers fact on the surrounding knoxville public schools (Farragut, Bearden, West etc...). Also CAK works hard in and out of season. Yes, there are many great club teams in Knoxville, and yes many of the CAK players play on these teams, but why can't they start club teams in Pigeon Forge and the Carter area? Mark Sherrod plays on one of the best club teams in the state, and he goes to a public school? Also how about this, Alcoa beats CAK every year in football and Alcoa whens state in football all the time; how is this any different that CAK and soccer? CAK does not recruit, if they provide any financial aid we are disqualified from state, so I don't see why having kids from various areas matters either? Anyways I'm sure there are arguments for and against private vs public schools, but I have yet to see a legit argument for TSSAA to move the private schools into a separate division.

  4. Agree and disagree. You are right--Maryville is young, hence the fact that they got drilled by CBHS. Young teams can be very inconsistent and sometimes be jittery against high quality programs. I also agree that they shouldn't be ranked as high as 4th, but I do think that Maryville is better than Sevier County and maybe even Bearden. I also agree that they could easily finish 4th or even 5th in their district, but this is because they are in such a tough district, not because they are not a strong team. On the other hand, I also believe that they have a shot at winning their district. I know, I know...Farragut is great...yada, yada, but they are not as good as their 07 or 08 team and could very easily have an off night this year.

Also, keep in mind that mjuhb doesn't see all of these games; therefore, he makes his rankings based on results. Maryville beat CAK and Oak Ridge this week (two very quality sides), so he bumped them.

If I see two teams that I think are too low, I would say Mo. West and Knox West need to move up a little. Knox West had a great showing in S.C. this weekend. Thought it was hilarious that Tanner was playing in goal!

Too high? Hardin Valley. They are a year or two away.

Who needs more buzz? Lenoir City--they tied Bearden this week and are quite a bit better than Hardin Valley. (Even though they tied this year).

If Maryville played against Sevier County the way they played against CAK Sevier County wouldn't stand a chance...

  5. No disrespect meant to your team, but if you want to get invited to the "big tournaments," you must beat the big teams when you get the chance. So its not about favorites when it comes to the invites for these tournaments its about the best teams they can get for the tournament; the Bearden tournament for example worked this way I heard. So again I'm sure you guys do have a strong team, but just thought I'd give the heads up.

  6. west took out starters at halftime at one zero in their advantage.

Hmm... well thats interesting I didn't know Jack, Patrick and Tanner were all on JV, because they didn't get pulled until the score was 3-1 in CAK's favor. Must be a great JV team.

  7. Many thanks!

    Just to clarify, though, I do require 13:00 flat. (I'm not getting THAT soft!) /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Wo BigG sounds pretty hard. So suppose someone got the two mile, but missed the one mile by seven seconds? Would you make them do it over if they were that close?
