coach wells wont win at cak. sure he could go 33-0 and run a perfect season, win state titles, even national titles, establish the next oak hill, get sponsored by nike, get televised espn games, take cak and have them try out for the 2012 olympic squad BUT some parents will have a problem with it somewhere and if its the parents who are high up on the CAK food chain, i.e. Duncan, Scott, Hammaker, etc. then bye bye wells.

Anyways since this whole classification things gonna be fixed cak would win more games even if the players coached themselves

I told Coach DeVoe that a CO-ED camp was a bad idea. Was it just the coaching or the girls at the camp that showed you up that destroyed you? That does play havoc on one's psyche. Talent is a fleeting thing you know.

 

Since Kirk Naler and Coach DeVoe ran the camp, I'm sure they had delusions that they could start the ruination of the program and thereby have Coach Darden's job in just a few short years. Conspiracy theories abound. I'm amazed that at a camp where all the coaches in your age group have D1 experience and SEC championships under their belt that they could destroy someone with your obvious talent in 4 short days. Maybe if you had listened and learned a little more you could have helped secure a few more W's and this thread wouldn't have started.

 

I'm sure you will find a way to trash me, my son or Catholic with a response but the bottom line with you should probably involve Upward Basketball where you were probably more suited. The Novikoff point was that if you weren't that good before he got there and haven't been very good since, was it a 1 year fluke that you were successful because you had a excellent player transfer in?

 

BTW, can you give a legit explanation how the CoC destroyed your talent? Several of the coaches gave up a week's vacation and traveled from several states to try and help the CAK program since that's where the bulk of the campers attend school. Bottom line is no matter who's coaching, you've got to have some talent.

2. Kirk Naler probably did plan something like that and God bless your former coach Donald Devoe. He is the greatest coach alive.

3. If i would have listened more it would have bored me and I would have probably just walked out the door. By the way seeing you demonstrate some of the drills cracked me up cause it takes you half a century to run down the court and then blow the lay-up. Something Devoe was embarrassed by.

4. I think your mad you couldnt lure Novikoff over to Catholic by promising him with a full ride, a benz, and a free trip pass purgatory straight to heaven.

5. I actually did play upward basketball, MVP of the league 1997-1999, then blew my acl out in 2000.

6. The CoC was more of a camp for beginners and really didnt have much competetion. I thought it was for champions like me to play together and get better.

that school just has too many problems to count. im done with it. kids are the clones of the parents. parents are the people making the decisions. The board is about as clueless as the jury in the OJ case. The administration headed by superintendent Scott Sandie needs to reassembled, including scotty.

i dont know patty, your the one whos coached 20+ years, went to harvard and finished 2nd in your class, played with the likes of magic johnson, larry bird, michael jordan, even beat michael 1 on 1 in a game to 15. So how you wouldnt know suprises me since you seem to know everything about this school. Natureboy gave an accurate and succinct description of how this information is leaked. I was going to describe it again in a much longer explanation but realized abruptly that Natureboy's description was fair and correct.

 

Regarding the confidentiality issue, CAK has probably not said a word to anyone about who has applied. BUT, I'm sure there were phone calls made on behalf of the school to several "candidates" by the aforementioned parent before the season was even over. But, aparently, you and he did not speak last weekend because I knew about the Webb job being vacant on Saturday (do I get some sort of reward for that?).

 

Come on, Irishbball, you know certain people in your "pretty small close knit bunch" treat this stuff like it's your real job, which, brings me to my next point: How do you have this much time to be on this website posting at various and numerous times in the day. Lucky for me, I don't have a normal job. I guess you don't either.

 

Looking at your credentials, it seems you are overly qualified to coach CAK. Are you applying?

IrishBBall-correct me if Im wrong on any of these. You seem to know just about everything, TVM has blessed you ever so dearly with a great deal of basketball wisdom.

Knox2-Please try to stay away from middle school sports, i see you referenced Treadway. MS sports are on a way different stage. Soccer is....well its just soccer. the only game you can run around for 80 minutes and still know you play a sport that would put most people to sleep. and id appreciate it if you would stop saying the previous teams were uncompetitive. I think i have told you this before, maybe your old, maybe the font I type in is too small for you to read, maybe my immense vocabulary has you scratching your head, trying to find the definitions of some words, or maybe your just as stubborn as heck but it needs to be said that questioning the teams competitiveness that previous student-athletes played on, needs to be stopped. My senior year, I remember maybe 2 games where we were out of it at half, the rest we either had the lead tied or down by very few. So just screw that point, and stop bringing it up

Please allow me to explain myself further. I was not trying to take anything away from the soccer team at CAK. They've done a great job, and G is obviously a great coach. When the multiplier was put into effect, the soccer team did not have to move up a class because 1A and 2A are already coupled together in soccer. However, since basketball is broken down into three classes (1A, 2A, and 3A), CAK had to move up from 1A to 2A. CAK used to play teams like Greenback, Midway, Cosby, and TSD, but then they had to play Catholic, AC, Kingston, Loudon, Stone Memorial, etc. (a little stiffer competition). If CAK soccer had to move up a class like the basketball team had to, maybe their results would be a little different. We need to take these things into account when comparing teams. I know they play good teams. I made the point that they play Farragut and Bearden and the like. But, those games don't count towards their district record or postseason play.

 

I'd also like to note how much emphasis we are putting on wins and losses here when everyone says it's all about the kids.

ya how did that multiplier not catch the football team, kind of embarrassing to say that your bball program and your football program are in the same division when there's two more divisions in play in football than their are in bball. and regarding soccer pshhhhhhhhhhhhhh the US doesnt even respect that game.

I just added up them numbers provided by Indiangiver. I wasn't just referring to the football, the baseball team has improved and both soccer teams have done very well. Since you seem to know the exact numbers, what was the overall record not just the district games over the past four years?

 

I heard today that they had 3 candidates in mind. Shane Wells from Lenoir City and the coach from Union County seem to be the frontrunners. Any one else heard anything?

Yeah but the Athletic Director doesn't make decisions involving CAK athletics, you would need to refer the hiring ? to the "administration". I dont even know why CAK has an AD, because they have an "administration" that handles things. and since Coach D has been here, to answer your question in a more body of work fashion, he posted a 66-64 record. and about the coaching...they better get one fast, because their gonna lose a lot of recruits if they dont get someone in there.

Take the transfer of Novikov (sp.?) out of the mix and 9-37 over the past four years you can see why changes might have been in order. It's not all about winning but it certainly plays a part especially when your other programs are on the rise.

if football actually moved up to 3A like they should have, you wouldnt be able to say they'd be on the rise.

CAK has always loved 2 sports, soccer and well mostly football. Other than that they dont really pay attention to anything else that goes on at that school.

Coach Darden is a great coach and person. CAK has made dumb decisions in its past, but none dumber than this. Influenced by parents, the AD who has been here all but 9 months made a pretty big (and stupid) decision. The statements that were made by Steve Denny in his reasoning for firing darden were untrue and mainly based on people telling him biased statements. Im deeply ashamed I ever went to this messed up establishment but would do anything to play another year for Darden. Hope he finds somewhere else to coach. A school that would respect what hes done and what hes capable of doing.

Ok, first of all this was a stupid post cause he had 20 of the 45 points scored against Carter so if scoring 20 is overrated than you are right.....but its not. And Catholic beat AC, Stone, Powell, Scott three times, and many others. I think they had 18 wins on the season. You are crazy and completely jealous of someone it seems.....

Did anybody hear about that kid for CAK last year, he was a sr but it was his first year of track and he started out running a 2:18 in the 800, and by seasons end he was running a 2:01. His name was Kitts i think, but wow anybody know about those coaches at CAK? i think i want to run there.

Also heard he was pretty decent at the 400 and set a SR in both that and the 8 and was the anchor on the 4X8 who finished 3rd in the state.

thats a joke. scott missed clutch free throws and broussard shoots like an elementary school basketball player. when he got the co-mvp that made the district look like a joke. but hail mary for the luck that happened last night. Broussard can be shutdown so easily and you dont even have to use one of your top defenders.
