  1. The rain has passed and the tarp has been pulled off of the field. The batter's box is being chalked up. The bases also need to be put down.

This week is Oakland/Siegel? Great time for me to be on spring break with the kids! I'm trying to get the game but can't get it to connect. What was the score for last night? Is this the first game or have there been others. No thread on the message boards - can't find it on the schools web site either. Can you fill me in? I know that Oakland has a team that many think will go deep in post season and Siegel has some questions on pitching and position players. Should be a great series with all the good players on both teams.

OaklandPatriots or 2Priceless - have you been to the game(s)? What's going on?

  2. ok lets tell the truth, Smynra is a blue collar town, and that's about it.....low to middle class, hard working yet mostly uneducated people where high school football is basically all you have to get excited about..and that's 70% of this country.....and MJ has there share of rednecks as well, just not as many as Smyrna.......I hope you guys win the state title, then you can brag about it when your peddling girl scout cookies in front of Walmart

OK Stinkerball, I've read your posts and listened to your teardown of Smyrna and have this to say - WHO'S YOUR BULLDAWG DADDY NOW?

I have friends in MJ and their take on Wilson county is that Detroit can't make enough Camero's or Firebirds for the MJ rednecks to buy! What's in MJ? Nice shopping center? Right across the street from a trailer park with high class 2 story double wides! Your share of rednecks isn't that far off Smyrna's number believe me.

BTW - your earlier comments about the Japaneese - they pay in dollars not yen. I guess thats all you got? Slam someone for working? Your team sure didn't have anything tonight did they?

Great game Smyrna - enjoyed it! Great job of sending Stinkyball home with his tail between his legs. Lets hope he doesn't leave any slime on the road!

Is there even a Wal Mart in MJ or is it too much of an armpit to get one? Oh well, you can always sell wrecked Cameros...

  3. I didn't. I just know anytime something happens to anyone's field, school, etc.....nrgrizzles comes on here and carries on and on about Smyrna kids that vandalized and they kept it under wraps b/c they were baseball and basketball players. Just wait......he will get on here.

2P (or not 2P) - I figured you would try to put the blame off on a See-gul student! I have you figured all wrong. Maybe option D for what was in the back of the truck - band instruments! :roflol:

  4. University of Tennessee Committs:

Top 5 played for Team Tennessee in Oklahoma

    Mookie Betts........... Overton

    Jared Allen............... Polk Co.

    Drew Massengale.... McMinn Co.

    Parker Wormsley .... Knoxville Webb

    David Horne............ Columbia Central

    Jordan Sanford........ Powell

    Samuel Davis........... Columbia St. CC

Thanks but I count only four on Team TN with him. Has some of the others committed to TN and I've missed hearing? I know Tyler Fullerton and Dylan Toscano were looking at UT but they have both committed elsewhere. Can you clarify?

  5. Nobody cared what you had to say because you didnt even go to the game..........

Point taken but the outcome was correct. I really thought it was because I stole your tuba... :roflol:

What matters now is how Oakland rebounds from this loss. I predict a long nite for the KY team.

  6. That is exactly what I was trying to say.....that the actions/antics of the team are a direct reflection of the coaching staff, especially the head coach. This is not the first time something of this nature has been brought up on this forum. It needs to be addressed and corrected. We have excellent athletes, excellent coaches, and an outstanding student body with a core group of hard-working parents. Let's be good role models to the younger players and kids in the stands, and make others want us to win. I love everything about this school and have since 1988.

And to think that someone mentioned this earlier this year in another thread and was roundly hammered because of these same actions. I guess comming from another mouth makes more sense. :roflolk:

  7. I don't know for sure, but I would say the fact that 7 of Mookie's teammates from Team Tennessee that finished second in this summers Sunbelt Classic have already committed to UT probably had something to do with his commitment. Those kids had a great time together playing in Oklahoma and I'm sure the idea of spending 3 or 4 years together playing SEC baseball at their home state school is a very exciting thing. :thumb:

Can you tell us who the 7 players are? I know Mookie and the Horn kid from Columbia - who else has committed? There have been a bunch that have given their verbal to D1 schools. What a class of players!

  8. Why would anyone do this now? You have kids that started as true freshmen leaving the program at every opportunity, no one in their right mind feels that Todd Raleigh will be around next season, the remaining players have no respect for the current head coach and to say that the program is a total mess would be quite the understatement. This makes zero sense for any player with great ability to give a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee.

I guess Jr. didn't get an offer. Be patient, something will turn up. :roflol:

As for Mookie, how could you be anything but happy for a young man getting the opportunity to play SEC baseball for his home state university? I for one am extremely happy to have Mookie and the Betts family on board at UT. Take a poll and ask ball players in Tennessee if they would like a scholarship to get an education & play baseball at UT, not to mention playing in the best baseball conference in America. I think you know what the results would be.

To be critical of MOOKIE'S decision (it's his future, not yours) is shameful.

Hope I didn't sound like I was being critical of Mookie's decision but with the current state at UT, I was hoping he would pick another school. I'll support him where ever he chooses to play. Hope he gets his education but I'll support him if he goes the other route also. TN has some really good players comming in.

I agree totally but the statement is true. Mookie did well at the east coast showcase - he probably won't go to any school.

  10. If Mookie Betts continues to be humble and grow as a player he may be shown enough money that he goes pro after high school. IMO, he could be a top 5 round pick in the 2011 draft which is great for a high school position player.

I heard that Mookie gave his verbal commitment to Tennessee yesterday.

  11. Sorry, Seagurl is not a rival. Riverdale is our rival. You're just a wannabe.

You looked up to us last year in Baseball didn't you? Try again Peppermint Patty! :roflol:

Please don't get this off subject more by telling all of us 4 or so still on here the results of the checker team, swimming, bowling, etc. I'm done if you are - the game is over, you stomped us, I got several of you to raise your blood pressure, you've jabbed me back, now can we move on?

  12. Funny that your 1st post in the football discussion board was about the baby powder throwing at the basketball game...then 2nd post in the football forums was about the Oakland baseball seating....now reading back to your 1st ever coacht post tells us you have strong ties with Siegel baseball....was your son wearing one of the shirts Friday and you are just bitter? I bet you were around to wittness the classless Oakland kids running onto the basketball court several years ago and getting pelted with bottles and other projectiles from the always classy Siegel students. Probably witnessed those evil Oakland cheerleaders at the same game as the baby powder incident just absolutely refusing to get out of the way of the Siegel cheerleader angels and getting right in front of the outstretch arms of Siegel cheerleaders, how dare they prented the siegel cheerleaders were going out of their way to push and shove and intimidate the Oakland girls and then laugh about it during their cheers and all the way back to their sidelines....of course your saw the baby powder, but I do not expect you saw what became the side show during every stoppage of play on our sidelines. I am done but I am sure you'll pop your head back up in an Oakland thread before too long. Good news, your season is only 8 more weeks long.

And after Smyrna, yours will be shortened too!

Again, the kids will be antagonized over here into doing things they shouldn't as yours have. Problem again is you cut yours some slack and ours you don't. I don't condone the bottle throwing, painting or powder incidents or the bashing of players on here. Can't you get that?

And I thought this was a Okland VS Siegel thread? Have you possessed this too? So, no one but Oakland can get on it right? I'm sorry, I forget my place. I should be bowing down to your greatness... :roflol:

  13. OK, and I will take a jab at the arrogant, spoiled Siegel kids and parents when I can...but I am sure that's definitely not ok for you. Glad you haven't been back, and why the heck would you pop up on a football discussion board if you haven't been to a high school football game in years....besides to stir things up.....Glad you are proud of our IB program, I invite you to become involved, or make a monetary donation to the program that you are so proud of.

Not that proud of the IB or the indoor facility, but I do in a way, support both. You'll have to trust me on that if you can trust us "arrogant, spoiled Siegel kids and parents". HINT - this statement is why I came on here! And yes, I'm ok with it if you keep it fun and no one gets hurt feelings.

  14. I don't think you get it yet, longgone. The SIEGEL fans were getting on CoachT and trashing one of THEIR Siegel baseball players. The folk taking up for the poor kid were OAKLAND posters, including myself. So you think that was OK? They not only said his name on here, but they said his first and last name along with his position. There were about 10 posts on the kid. Total personal attacks.

No I get it - I'm thinking this kid was a catcher? Fair - no, but with a stipulation: if it was the kid I'm thinking it was, then he really brought it on himself. Started a near riot at an Oakland baseball game? I tried to talk to him and he seemed to understand but went right out and kept getting into trouble after that. No, not OK to bash but to some, bashing can also look like venting even though this board isn't the correct place for it. Believe me there were very hot parents here over that one. We were embarrased to have our kids in the athletic program.

If you haven't been to a high school game in yrs, why the sudden interest in CoachT and the Siegel program? Why do you even care? Me thinks something is stinkin to high heaven b/c things are just not adding up. How would you know about these shirts? I didn't see one at the game, so how about enlightening me on what they said. I don't have to know specifics on the name part, just what was said on the rest of the shirt.

Sudden interest was the rival game - any time Oakland plays Siegel, even in checkers, it gets good. I've just been here to stir the pot as you can look back on my posts and see. Having fun and hope you have also had fun doggin me. Can't remember if it was you but "Salty" made me laugh.

OK, now the shirt - front:SIEGEL VS JOKELAND

Back: two candy canes with sign saying JOKELAND HIGH "Home of the Jokes", to the right is JOKELAND with what looks like a game board path to the bottom where it says GAME OVER! Two kids holding hands with "O" shirts on. The bricks of the pathway have the kids names - male and female. Both of my kids names are on it by the way...

  15. Obviously you could care a less about the road names, yet you try to hint that because the road is named DeJarnette on Oaklands side its because Oakland wants to make themselves out better than Siegel, which is totally ridiculous. I am very glad that the reason you didn't come to the game was because it was at our place, we dont want you here anyway. I know many people who feel the same way about stepping foot on the Siegel campus, I tell them that is a stupid reason to not go support the kids though, because this is about the kids, lets remember that. I don't know why it KILLS Siegel supporters deep down inside to know that Oakland would come up with an idea, and let alone money, for an indoor facility years before they could, and the idea for and academic program like the IB program before they did. I know, its hard to believe that Oakland can do some things better than Siegel, it's hard to admit that isn't it? Don't worry, I don't expect you to.

Your wrong - I am proud for Oakland and their IB program, just like to jab when I can. As far as the indoor facility, again, congrats and I've actually been inside it and it is great. Here is the issue - if that same facility were to be on Siegel property, (bought by some loving alums and paid back by the school/booster clubs) then there would be an outcry at Oakland over the rich seagulls getting more than others. I'm the only one (that I know of) that heckles you and the Pattys over it. Want one - heck yes, and your weight room/training program.

As far as support for the kids, I do my part and have even PAID AT OAKLAND when I had on a TSSAA shirt to get in Spring Fling - that was the last time your baseball team was in the state. I haven't been to a high school football game in years.

  16. Well...let's see...basketball. Last year Oakland was picked to finish 5th and the talented Siegel was picked to win. Hmmm...we all know how thst went. And, yes, I absolutely can't wait for baseball to get here.

Longgone...seriously...you have some issues to deal with. I'm available for counseling and maybe we can get you to put a positive attitude out there. Otherwise, I don't see a bright future. :roflol:

Glad you can't wait for baseball - how did your team do last year? :roflolk:

I don't need counseling, but you may want to take another course or two. Seven plus years and your still mad about someone bettering themselves for getting a better job? Band instruments gone? Give it up or seek your own shrink. :thumb:

  17. You need to keep a scorecard on here because you are getting mighty confused. I was the one who said it WAS wrong to do the powder. It was also wrong for sweet innocent SEEGULL to deface with paint a building that was worked on by innocent GIRLS and their parents. I said it was WRONG for BOTH schools. You are the one inisting that only Oakland does bad things. I agree with secman on here. Your parents and fans have bashed your own on here repeatedly. One game at Siegel vs OHS about 6 yrs ago, there was a huge banner that the Siegel nation was holding at their tailgate that said FIRE COACH WATSON. That was before the game! Every single person that came into the game saw it. Way to support the team, isn't it? How do you think that made his family feel to walk in and see something like that? So don't get on here and yelp about someone calling out a parent when your students/parents do it and worse all the time and no one does a thing to them. Go read the archives on here and you will see your fans calling out other players on the team and the coaches. I remember back in a baseball thread yrs back, your fans got on here and trashed a poor Siegel baseball player until the poster got kicked off the T. riverdaleman can vouch for that. He was the moderator.

OK, keep the scorecard - I've stated it was wrong too and even said that who ever did it should clean it up - remember?

If it's OK to call out the student as you have stated, then why ban the kids from their shirt wearin due to a first name?

  18. Dang, look what you miss out on when you go to a Kentucky game! Looks like we got ourselves a brawl on here. If I didn't know better, I would think this poster might be Hoolie.

Here is the thing Longgone......this is what you should be from this thread.....long gone. You have YET to have proven a single point. Dude or dudette, you just might want to go to anger management to handle all this hate and bitterness. What kind of fan gets on here, argues and takes multiple heat for Siegel, but refuses to go and support them because the gate would go to Oakland? That is no fan. Go and don't buy concessions or ask Nolan for one of his many TSSAA passes so you can get in free. That is what you do and feel glee because you left trash or should I say garbage in our stands.

Have proven my point - two standards when it comes to Oakland and what they can and do get away with. You wreck a gym, delay the game and then push it off as youth being youth. But how dare Siegel deface property at Oakland! Can't get through to some of you so this is fruitless. I'm not mad but have better things to do Friday night than watch Oakland kill Siegel. And I clean up after myself and can buy the ticket, thank you.

  19. Your rants, crying, and excuse making are the first sign of a loser. Move along please.

I will, but you still don't see the error in what you posted. Can't seem to get through to you. Have fun bashing 18 yr olds and their moms - real championship fan right there.

  20. Like Blackman and Siegel did for their baseball fields and Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale and Siegel did for their football stadiums and Oakland did for their new bathrooms at the baseball field and .... Every school has things they need and things they worked for and things they didn't work for. See what I mean? I could say something mean and suggest Blackman use some of their money for some singing lessons for the band - LOL!!!!!!! But I won't. I have some friends who have some offspring that played in the Blackman band.

Good point David - I remember taxpayer money going to Oakland for stands (was it $60,000?) for their baseball field for the Spring Fling. Now, you can't watch a Distrit game over there in those seats without paying a donation to the booster club to the tune of 100 bucks. How do we sign up for that deal?

  21. First off if you aren't from here, don't bring up stupid stuff like the names of roads, and then come back and admit you have no reason why the roads are named what they are. My goodness you are so right, the Oakland players were playing dirty, and your sorry excuse for a fan weren't even at the game. so you think our players were cheating, breaking the rules, and playing so dirty, and that they just came right out in the paper and admitted it. Seriously, I am glad there is no chance we will be playing you again this year. I am sure there will be several excuses when the Siegel Basketball team under achieves again this year. Please don't talk respond to my posts with anymore information, because you, my friend, do not want to be educated about what happened, you read a newspaper article, and then without knowing the slang of today's youth (on both sidelines) want to infer that Oakland must have been cheating. All you need to know is 36-0. I'll take your #1 definition, and say that he obviously must have been talking about how their jerseys must have gotten dirty, obviously this is what he was referring to in his quote.

I've lived here for years and could care less the naming rights of roads.

Your guy said the words and it is in print - I guess there needs to be better communication on what "dirty" means - ask a person in East TN, west TN or south TN and the comments seem to slant to #3. It is what it is.

The reason why I didn't go to the game was LOCATION - your place. Your people complain they have no money but you have the only indoor facility for football in high school in middle TN. Before you go off on who funded the facility, I know that story first hand and have talked to the father/son who loaned the money for it - good for you. I try not to support your school for the reason that you and others at Oakland ooze out of your pores - an attitude that you are somehow better than me and you tend to look down your upturned nose at us. I agree we also have that lofted status thing at our school but your not talking to someone that feels they are above you.

As for your last post - our team wouldn't play timid the second time - but again, your team would take over and dominate the second half. I look forward to the basketball matchups and the banter that, no doubt, will be on the boards. And then we have baseball after that...

  22. I believe I had a spelling error in a previous post. Instead of Seagull, it should have been Seagurl.

Keep it up, Pepperment Patty... Now we're down to name calling?

This thread is done for me - too many english major wannabees telling me I can't spell or I have my pronounds mixed up or even worse, I don't know the history of Murfreesboro. It's went down hill and you need to focus on your next opponent - we need to find out how to play football. It has truly been fun to rile the Oakland faithful up! Please understand I'm just hacking on you - no hurt intended but I hope I've opened up some eyes on both sides to keep the pranks in good taste, even if Oakland didn't think of the prank first! There I go again...

  23. So, when it get's personal it's ok....or just ok when it's coming from Siegel students.

Good point - I was wondering the same from your students!

I would not expect you to know that Haynes Drive is named after the person who owned the land where the road (and several neighborhoods) are now located. Pretty much like your school, and the road it sits on being named for the person who owned the land previously. For you to insinuate that Oakland made a name change from Haynes drive to Dejarnette (spelled correctly) is absolutely absurd, since the name change at Memorial has been that way since before you were born. Please tell more about the player by our failed cheering squad?

Correct - not from here so wouldn't know if Haynes was a person or the road was going to an skivies factory. Couldn't care less but it's always good fodder to fire up the Oakland faithful when they complain about poor us - the rich kids at Siegel, etc. Don't know about you but that one subdivision over your way looks like it's pretty expensive. I was referring to the chants at basketball games - wasn't their last night but was told that "Siegels Garbage" was the chant at the end of the game - I've tried to point out that both sides are guilty but it always comes back that Oakland does no wrong. And I can spell if I wish, corectly. Is that all you got on me?

    Not #1, not #2, not #3, not #4....

Probably a website that is blocked on the Haynes Drive side of Memorial is UrbanDictionary.com:

In the connotation used in the DNJ article:

Dirty: Really good, superlative, sick, awesome

Nasty: A word used to describe someone's excellent ability at something or to describe something ridiculously good.

Now an OHS supporter has actually educated, or tried to educate, a Siegel supporter.

From dictionary - The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language - Dirty: 1) Soiled, as with dirt; grimy; unclean. 2) Obscene or scatological. 3) Contemptibly contrary to honor or rules. 4, 5 and 6 are off base - but this is English language and it still means what it did 20 plus years ago - playing dirty means breaking rules. Sorry, I don't speak nor acknowledge hip-hop or rap slang. No offence intended but just don't speak the language. Sorry. So, does your IB program allow this slang?

  24. OK, enough said - nope, I just read the DNJ article about the game. This discussion can be summed up in paragraph 5 on page two. Your admin sure can stop the chants/t-shirts but again, can't control their own. I'd rather loose playing fair than "being the dirtier team". Good thing? Bad name in the region? How will folks across the state react when one of the top teams admits to dirty play in a newspaper! Wait for it - here comes the damage control!!! 1) "Siegel was dirty first", 2) Them shirts did it", 3) "We owe it to them 'cause they's arrogant/rich/pompous", 4) "Its a rival school and it's OK"... shall I go on? Glad your proud of your team. Where are all the others that said they would call this out? "Oh Andy, this is BIG"...

    5) Call the DNJ to make a retraction of what was said - misquoted, no doubt.

This sure was a hot thread - you couldn't get your reply out without some one comming right back at you within minutes. Where oh where have the little Pattys gone? Oh, where oh where could they be?
