  1. Murph actually ran 4:51 at a smaller meet, so it's not on milesplit.

    Maybe I'm missing something completely

    Yes.

So he is now 34 seconds slower then Rainey and McKelvey in a mile...as I said, he won't touch them

  2. I've never even heard of them, and I highly doubt they can run with Rainey or McKelvey

    Wrong

Maybe I'm seeing something wrong, but here are track and xc PR's for each according to milesplit

    Rainey- 1600m- 4:17.48, 2 mile- 9:21, 5k- 15:34.

    McKelvey- 1 mile- 4:17.54, 3200m- 9:07, 5k- 15:10.

    McKeen- 1600m-4:40, 3200m- 10:05, 5k- 16:31.

    Murphy- 1600m- 5:01, 3200m- 10:31.4, 5k- 17:14.8

Maybe the 5k times might be on easier or harder courses, so the times differ, but the track times explain it all...Maybe I'm missing something completely, but McKeen and Murphy won't touch Rainey or McKelvey

  3. and how do you think some teams will fare now that theyve lost many like david lipscomb or macon or any school thats lost their big runners

MLK Boys have a very good chance to get the boys title. They have all but one returning, and one of their strong runners was out with an injury for most of last year.

    Any predictions for D-II?

  4. It'll probably come down to Bryan McKeen or Ian Murphy in AAA, my money's on Murph winning with a kick.

I've never even heard of them, and I highly doubt they can run with Rainey or McKelvey...I'm going to have to pick Rainey with the upset though

  5. Predictions for 4x800, 800, 1600, and 3200 at state?

For the 4x800 I've got to go with Ensworth for D-II and Brentwood for AAA after hearing they are both capable of sub-8, but Cordova is also looking strong, and you've got to expect something good from Oak Ridge and Maryville again...

Is Bill Matthews going to repeat the triple?

Matt Sonnenfeldt win the 3200 and 1600?

    Also, any predictions for 4x4?

  6. Yup this is true and it happened last wednesday and Brentwood pulled out a close victory. They both ran 8:00 and some change. They are both under 8:00 by the end of the season... Also to get into the emerging elite section at Nike Outdoor Nationals you have to run under 8:00 with some exceptions. It'll be interesting to see if they can get there.

    Congrats to both teams...that's flying

Does anyone know who matched up with who? splits?

I want to hear more about this one

**I edited this because I was informed that Dyersburg's 4x8 boys squad was screwing around at regionals.

What about predictions for D-II and AAA?

    Bill Matthews with the triple?

Sonnenfeldt with the 16 and 32 victory?

  8. the number three seed scratched the number one and two ran. i don't know where you got your imfo from. bill mathews may have not been there along with a mat sonnedtfeild and may be one or two others but it gives you pretty good idea of how things shake out.

No, that's still wrong...The top three seeds were Garrett Carmichael, Gehrig Nelson, and Breon Dixon...none of which ran...also bill and matt couldn't have ran in it because they aren't middle tn, and the great 8 is only middle tn runners

  9. this post is kinda pointless now /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> just look at great eight

Great 8 was missing out on most of the strongest 800m runners in middle TN, considering that the top 3 seeds scratched, and some other strong runners didn't even submit times to the meet.

  10. It's a good bet that to win the AAA 4x8 at state you'd better break 8 minutes flat.

I heard that Brentwood and Ensworth were setting up a 4x800m and go head to head, hoping to both break 8 minutes...Is this even true?

  11. He beat him at the governors classic at austinpeay. And as i predicted he beat him in the eight, and so did the kid from mt.juliet, and if I correctly remember so did one other runner. Also It was disappointing to see jake rainey have to drop. Unofficial word was that he was down with some sort of sickness. The mile would have been crazy between him and mahaney. And congrats to music in the two mile. He beasted running a 4:57 first mile and the running a negative split by ten with a follow up mile of 4:47. Kids beast. The hurdle times in the 300 all seemed sort of slow(for the times posted), but word was 4 of the top 5 were running banged up. the 100 was Cunningham all the way. And what was up with that crazy fast girl in the 100 hurdles.

I'm pretty sure carmichael didn't run at austin peay, and he didnt run the 800m at great 8, just the mile...I was there.

  12. Rainey will take the mile but he will be pushed by mahaney the whole way. In the 800 I actually predict mahaney to win. He has the slower time but has only ran against sub 200 competition once this year, where he beat garret Carmichael the number one seed. It will be a very close race to watch. And the two mile i believe is an obvious choice without mahaney in it, and that would be jeff musnick

When did mahaney beat carmichael in the 800?

  13. The Great 8 seems to be looking stacked this year, especially in the 800m and 1600m. In the 800m, 7 out of the 8 guys are under 2:00, so it should be a very fun race to watch. The 1600m is also extremely deep. I don't know if I've ever seen the great 8 so deep in the distances, and can't wait to watch this meet.

Any predictions that want to be put out there before the races begin???

  14. Big "ups" to to Hunters Lane Boys for finishing 2nd overall. The finals were hot with a 200m showdown between three top sprinters from Hunters Lane (Jaz Davis (Jr), Joseph Short (Sr), and Rodney Darden (Sr)). It was another photo finish with Jaz getting the nod for 1st. However, Joesph won the 100m and 400m with DeAngelo Gray (Sr) from Stratford and Rodney Darden from Hunters Lane finishing 2nd in the respected races. Hunters Lane's Boys 4 X 100 broke a 26 year meet record with a time of 41.86 in the prelims. They were also 4 X 100 Champions, which included freshman Michael Brown. The 4 X 400 represented.

Louisana Tech signee, Quanisha Sales, as usual, lit up the night. She was named one of the meets mvp. She was blazing in the 100m, 200, and the anchor for the relays. Sophomore sensation, Jordan Lavender from University School of Nashville, will definitely "pick up the baton" from Quanisha when she runs into the sunset. "Props" to Akira McSwain from Hunters Lane. The senior won the 100m hurdles and was runner up in the 300m hurdles. She anchored the 4 X 100 edging out Hillsboro for the Championship.

Martin Luther King's girls are a well balanced group of girls. They finished second to Ensworth. These ladies have only one senior, and are led by junior, Kirsten Jones. They should be a top contender for the state crown.

Ensworth also had a great show. Both the boys and girls teams are very young, but the girls are lacking sprints and throws, and the boys are lacking sprints and jumps big time. "Props" to the boys throwing and distance there, and to the girls jumps and distance.

  15. SO, it appears that Mahaney actually did run the 4:25 true mile. and actually beat Jake Rainey the rivalry we all love to watch.

BUttttt if you look at the results Mahaney was on the wildrbeast team which if you look at the 4x8 ran an 8:15 which is really fast.

So im assuming that 4x8 was made up of Mahaney, Rainey, That Garret kid?, and then probably Matt Sonnenfeldt.

if thats true id like to see some splits on that, to see where Mahaney is in the 800 at this point

I don't think Mahaney was on the 4x8. I think it was Jake Rainey, Garrett Carmichael, Breon Dixon, and another ensworth kid, but I may be wrong
