  1. If it was me....... I would be cheering for the team that put my team out for the rest of the tournament.... that way I could at least say we got put out by the team that won it all.... but i agree... DeKalb shot extremely well against White House... plus they were the only team to go on the road and win....so if DC keeps up the momentum the DC/LA game willl be alot closer than 19 or 20+ point victory for LA. Especially if they keep playing as well as they have been the past 2 games. I'm not saying they will win, but if they play like they are capable of they will have a chance.

    GO DC!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Well said, to add on this coach dodgen is a fine coach. I know him personally and we're very close. He's hard on them girls because he knows sky's the limit. With 2 seniors, 2 juniors, 5 sophomores, and 3 freshmen there future is very bright. They compete at the top already in a difficult region. Can't wait to see the next two years with the sophomores are seniors. With Ruehlen being a dominant post and king and sissom up top, the region will be up for grabs the next two year, and they have 2 solid bench players jordan and payne who can backup ruehlen and king very good. Smith and upperman better watch out. All i really wanna say is good luck to Coach dodgen, i'll see you monday and good luck the lionettes, i'll be there to suppurt ya'll.

You gotta be kidding me.... i know for a fact that Smith Co. is extremely happy w/out him. Cannon has got the talent there... they got the offensive threats and skill levels to play with anybody. But, he way under-utilizes Ruehlen in the post... they look to shoot the 3 ball instead of playing inside-out...... another thing is all he runs are set plays.... when Sissom is running point guard and all he can do is set ball screens to get her open its not very effective... the offense looks stagnant like they don't know whats going on..... When #14 Melton is in the game running point and Sissom gets to run off other screens they actually look like somewhat of an offense... Take the York district as example... Excellent 2nd quarter.... who was running 1 guard???? (Side note: Was looking through the Murfreesboro paper at top assist leaders for the area... Melton was in the Top 5 in Assists Per Game..... not bad for someone only averaging 2 quarters a game of playing time!!!) Where is she on you list of bench players??? or good players??? Your right when you say he is hard on the girls... he runs there legs off a day before a game that way they look dead by the end of the 2rd quarter.... (DCA looked like Olympic sprinters compared to Cannon) I have also heard from numerous sources that he does not teach them anything...especially defensively... he just yells and expects them to know how to play it..... Finally, he does not take any responsiblility for anything. If they lose.... its always the girls' faults.... they were not focused enough...... it could NEVER be his decision-making in a game... or that he might possibly of been out-coached...

anyways...... this is just my oppinion..... you will either take it or leave it... im sure not everyone else sees it the way i do.... but im sure some do...... I'm just the one who does care to say it on the board

  3. You all keep writing about the players he has coached....... those kids had talent to begin with... now if he was the reason they all shot well and could score he needs to make his own instructional video..... but i doubt it.......what kind of offense did he run?????? What does he do over there besides say.."Here boys! Take this ball and shoot it!"????????? He don't run any offense..... he relies on the talent he possesses. Thats why McWilliams and the Bees will win the district tournament tonight. They have an offense and actually run something, instead of a Chinese firedrill free-for-all. I'll take running a good offense and getting easy baskets over relyng on one kid to put up 40 to have a chance to win any day!!!!

  4. Just keep holding back your kids in the 6th grade ( or sooner) like yall have always done...that way they are able to mature another year. It must be nice to have 19 year old seniors to play for you all the time. Just wait.... the tides will turn... and we will be on top....without having to hold kids back a year!

  5. It has nothing to do with getting beat badly. Yea they played everybody.... but not until 2 minutes to go and they pressed with half their starters in the game until 5 minutes to go in the game. Upperman girls did the same thing to Cannon girls as well. Not knowing when to call the dogs off will come back and haunt you one day. And I believe everyone else (not from livingston) would also agree with what im saying. It also must be nice to walk into a program with so much talent that you really don't have to do any coaching

  6. I totally agree!!! Both coaches are really working with these young kids. They teach more than just basketball. Both coaches have class and integrity. Not like the Livingstons and Uppermans pressing with their starters while being up 28 points in the 4th quarter. One day DeKalb and Cannon will be the 2 top teams in the District and I hope the coaches for the the other 2 previously mentioned teams are still around to get back what they have been dishing out. Good luck to both programs in the upcoming years.

  7. I played against Brewer in high school and have watched Jenkins play this year. I have to say Best Defensive player: Corey Brewer... Best Offensive Player: Jenkins..... Neither Penny or Delk averaged 40 a game...... Its hard to compare these two as who the best "Player" is... to some scoring more points makes a better player... for others doing the little things such as shutting another player down, handling the ball, and getting steals makes the better player. They both had the ability to take control of a game, just in different ways. Both could score.. although Jenkins is the better shooter... both were scorers... Now.. Brewer's college track record is going to be pretty hard to Top..... but you have to look at the players Brewer had around him when winning those 2 NCAA Championships....... For the guy making a comment about Vandy..... obviously he has not seen any NCAA tournament action over the past 6 years... starting when Matt Freije took them to the Sweet 16..... Kevin Stallings's Vandy progam is on the up and up. His game and coaching philosophy has gotten him better recruits over the years. This year he has one of the youngest teams in the country with no seniors.... the addition of Jenkins next year with Ogilvy at center and i see one of the best teams in the SEC and a run in the NCAA Tournament. I wish nothing but the best to both players in their basketball futures. Go Jenkins and the Dores next year!!!!!!!! Nobody watches NBA... sorry Brewer... but u still were a heck of a college player

  8. Putting everyone's biases aside, nobody is for sure who is going to win tonight. It will come down to who does the little things. Can Cannon block out????? Can DeKalb get out and cover Cannon's shooters????? Who can keep their turnovers low and get to the free throw line more????? I agree with the comment about Coach Martin having been a head coach in a district tournament game before. That could play a factor, may not. Another thing you have to consider is the age and maturity of the teams. DeKalb is starting seniors and juniors and Cannon is mostly sophmores and 2 seniors. Dekalb's team has made it to the Region a couple of times in the past few years and know what it takes to get there. This is something new to Cannon players who have not had the opportunity to play in the Region (not since 02-03 season) and has had numerous coaching changes. Coach Rigsby has done a great job with Cannon this year and has made a vast improvement compared to its previous 2 coaches. Overall, both teams have looked really good at times and really bad at times. Thats going to happen during a season. And as far as passion for their teams and the game of basketball, both coaches definately have that. Trust me... I'm good friends with both. The one thing we all know is that both teams show up to play everytime when playing one another. I did when I played..... on both teams.... for those of you wondering who I am there's a hint... but I honestly think it will be one heck of game... Good Luck to both squads.. I'll continue to cheer for the team that wins tonight throughout the rest of the tournament.
