  1. Looking at the info on Coacht.

Since this is the single A tournament it would seem that is the most important game info would be single A games.

Friendship Christian does not seem to have lost to a single A team.

    Dist Tour 3 – 0 scoring 33 and giving up 3

    Region and Sectional 3 – 0 scoring 27 and giving up 1

Nashville Christian seems to have lost 6 single A games.

Dist Tour ??? 4 -1 not sure what is going on in coacht for that

    Region and Sectional 2 – 1 scoring 9 and giving up 10.

Boyd-Buchanan In all single A games they had 16 wins in coacht and I know that does not include 2 wins against Grace.

They have not lost to a single A team. They have outscored single A opponents 163 to 24. (not counting the 2 missing Grace games)

Reg Season games 10 – 0 scoring 105 runs and giving up 8

    DIST Tour. 3 – 0 scoring 27 giving up 0.

Region and Sectional 3 – 0 scoring 31 and giving up 16 (The pitchers struggled in two of these games giving up about 9 walks and hit batters and most scored)

Eagleville has lost 4 single A and played close Region and sectional games.

Hancock has little information on coacht.

Adamsville shows a losing record on Coacht. They did thump Douglass… that is the only game on coacht for Douglass.

Decatur Co. Riverside looks to have lost only 2 single A games.

    Dist 3 – 0 scoring 28 and giving up 7

    Region and sectional 3 – 0 scoring 41 and giving up 4 (30 – 0 in a game against Westwood… Westwoods only game in coacht )

Harriman seems to have lost 5 single A games and played close through all district and region/sectional games.

    So… of the known:

Frindship Christian and Boyd-Buchanan have yet to lose a single A game.

Decatur Co. Riverside has only lost 2 single A games.

Eagleville has lost 4 single A games

Harriman has only lost 5 single A games.

Nashville Christian has only lost 6 single A games.

There is not enough information to know about Adamsville and Hancock. So, one of them may be the “dark horse” that wins it all.

I think the final 4 will be Friendship Christian, Decatur Co. Riverside, Eagleville and Boyd-Buchanan.

I am guessing Friendship Christian and Boyd-Buchanan playing on Friday this is all based on past history, but... as has been said... any given day any given team... and there is a reason why they play the game.

However they got here... everyone got here and it is all about what you do going forward.

When you drop down from AA to A and have 9 good starting seniors then it would just about be embarrassing to lose to a A team that usually carry about 4 or5 seniors, and not all of them are starters. So I don't think that anyone is surprised that Boyd made it to State. Good Luck!

  2. With so much LUCK on their side they may end up in the state tournament.

what "LUCK" are you talking about?

The luck of moving down from AA to A at the same time they have so many strong senior players! It's like the perfect storm! They would have been competitive in AA, but it would have been hard to make it to the state tournament. Not very lucky for the smaller schools who have been in A. Hey, good luck!

  3. I say this to any to has anything to say about umpires...put on the blue shirt, do it once. Its looks easy and people think how can they miss a call. But humans make mistakes and people will just have to handle it.

I know it's not as easy as one might think, but when you see an ump who takes the bat out of someones hands and it changes the game entirely then it makes you wonder if they may have done it on purpose! And when you see an ump so drastically change his strike zone later in the game then it makes you wonder again. (After all, as you said, they are only human and sometims their biases are bound to come into play). Not all do this but you will have to admit that some do! Don't get bent out of shape unless you are one I am referring to!

  4. Umpiring seems to be a hot topic this year, certainly in the mid-state area, so I thought some discussion might be in order. Umpiring in Clarksville is decent compared to what I've seen in Nashville and Dickson so far this year. It's frustrating when you feel like these guys seem to be having too much of an impact on the game.

Now I wouldn't complain if these guys weren't making what $65.00 a game in some places? We had teams from Ohio come to our tournament where they pay their umpires $45.00. I think there ought to be a little more accountability for their performance, because what we've had so far has been just bad.

The sad thing is, in our town we have middle school umpires who would rather just do middle school. Make a little less, but you can stay in town, and not be at the mercy of some other guy making your schedule. And they are much better than most of the high school guys we get.

Has anyone else had this experience?

You really think $65/game is a lot? $65 for the game and you probably have to leave your regular job early, work another 2-3 hours and get home at 10:00 p.m.

Yeah, sounds like a piece of cake to me.

If you truly think $65 for a game is a lot, you need a better job yourself!

I guess they are doing it just for the Love of The Game!!! :flower:

  5. I know that umpires are only human, but they should at least try to be a little more consistant with the strike zone. For the most part I'll have to say that most have done a decent job. There are a few (always the same ones) that seem to change with how the game is progressing. I honestly don't know how a kid is suppose to stand up there and be a disciplined batter when you don't know where the strike zone is. That has to be frustrating to the batter and the pitcher who can't figure it out. I have seen the strike zone go from one extreme to the other in one game! I know this subject is somewhat taboo, but I would hope that these umps would at least be open to the fact that they may be wrong sometimes and try to be more consistent.

  6. What teams from Chattanooga making a run for the state tournament? In A i see Boyd Buchanan or Lookout Valley and Ooltewah or Soddy Daisy to make a run in AAA

Boyd has a big advantage since they moved down from AA and especially during a time that they have so many strong senior players. I would imagine that those seniors could not be as satisfied with a divisional win this year. I guess a win is a win, though! With so much LUCK on their side they may end up in the state tournament.

  7. What about Marion they had the best record in the area.Marion and Boyd both got move down to single A .Does anyone else in single A have a chance to beat them.

It will make it harder for the other single A teams but eventually will make them stronger. LV should be OK and I think that Grace might surprise a few this year. Ought to be interesting to watch!

  8. In a school the size of Ooltewah there is bound to be problems with parents....the compitition is greater. The parents are doing eveything they can to get their kid a spot on the team....not all, but some. I know that Ooltewah isn't the only school that has this situation and I think that it's not as bad as years past. GO OWLS!!!

  9. Alec Rose will be the number 1 at Grace throwing upper 80's. He should have a great year. Also, remember this name, Cooper Wittman. Inexperienced soph with a huge upside. Could be great by the end of the year!

I know who Rose is but who is Cooper Wittman? Rose should be dominating this year....does Grace have any other good players? By the way doesn't Rose live in Ooltewah.....been nice to add him to our pitching staff!

  10. Alec Rose at Grace Academy in Chattanooga has had a good summer and is getting interest from several schools, including Troy University.

Thats good to hear....I like ole' Alec. I hope he does well this year! He use to play ball with my son when they were much younger. You could tell then that he was going to be good if he stayed with it.
