  1. I thought that Northwest hired Bryan Johnson as it's principal? He was a very good football coach who jumped into adminsitration at a very early age. He has been pipelined into adm in fast track fashion. If there is any principal in Clarksville who wants to succeed at sports..........it would be Johnson.
  2. OC @ Kentucky Christian U. NAIA
  3. OK................I will bite. Who is ELA? Am I missing something? Lol
  4. Speaking of Hickman County Coachbob1........Who is the next HC in HC?
  5. I have seen Waverly in the past when they were real good. It could happen again. You must get the players out and keep them out. Their middle school teams are always good, but a lot of those kids do not play for whatever reason when they get to high school. Many factors are involved I would assume. IrishTiger, Way to make a splash with your first post. I don't think anyone is smearing anyone on here. Maybe something said in jest or out of frustration over the whole situation. Probably due to the public vs private mess that runs thru our state. You will find varying opinions on that subject. Some valid and some ludicris. But, small schools like Waverly & others must find a way to keep their kids "in house". Easier said than done sometimes. If you are associated with Waverly Middle School in some form or fashion, you guys do a good job at being successful over there..............now help Waverly High School do the same thing.
  6. Just saw on TSSAA that Waverly is accepting apps for Head Coach position. Good luck Coach Graves in the future. 1st class individual.
  7. Coach Graves is 1st class. He does well with what he has. Here is a question for you...........what impact will the closing of the New Johnsonville plant in 2017 have on Waverly, McEwen, Camden and Bruceton? Lot's of jobs will be lost. Houston County, Stewart County and Montgomery Central may benefit from it's closing because I would assume they would transfer a lot of folk to the Cumberland City plant. Just a thought.
  8. Jacket, Are you saying they wanted King all along or they wanted Harris out? Or did they want Harris to be the HC? Confused. Sorry
  9. Baseball, All those things you mentioned, Matt Jones provided all that and then some. He did not play politics, enforced discipline, great teacher, held kids accountable, etc. etc. I could go on. Yet, he was still run out of town. With all that being said, Coach King must be doing something right and righting the ship at the same time. BTW......white house heritage is a 3A school, just like EH. Their enrollment is 564 as opposed to EH enrollment of 586. I would classify that as a good win.
  10. Great post Howdoitknow, Coach Spangler was very influential to my father as a mentor while my Dad was the head coach at CHeatham in the early 70's. Dad tells me stories of Coach Spangler driving to our house on a whim and getting my Dad out in the yard for hours and showing him the single wing and the veer. He was very supportive of my Dad while in CHeatham County. Dad tells me that one of the hardest things he ever had to do was tell Coach Spangler that he was leaving CHeatham for another job in a neighboring county. It was harder telling him than the administration and the kids. That is respect for a human being. I will never forget Coach Spangler's passion for CHeatham County and his stylish pants. R.I.P Coach Spangler. I bet he is already showing the man upstairs how to run the single wing.
  11. Why would SC have Spring Practice in the gym? I am assuming you guys have started Spring Practice because you are working on the veer. With the mesh of the veer, and the route of the running back, that is something you cannot just tell your QB go coordinate the veer work. That means coaches are supervising.............or even worse..........coaching? Cannot do that, but I am sure Coach Colquette understands this. Good luck to everyone in the valley in '13.
  12. Barger will do a great job at Clay County. We had the opportunity to play his Cannon County team in a bowl game. It was one of the most exciting games I have ever been involved in as a player or coach. Final score was 52-48 I believe. Something close to that. His team was very sound and you could tell that fundamentals were stressed in his program. He had average players that played their tails off. He and his coaches coached with passion as well. I will be keeping up with Clay in the future. Good luck Coach Barger.
  13. Well then...................I am humbled & stand corrected. Now, what/who is your source of info!
  14. I'm sorry Gerry, I could have sworn I was asking Brawler what his source of info was on the SC position. But since you chimed in, why don't you give us some info since you seem so inclined to join the conversation. I am assuming you are a Finley supporter, which is fine. Finley may not want his name thrown all around the T nation. Just give us your source of info.
  15. Brawler, What would be your source of info?
  16. ................& just who/what would be your source of info there little feller?
  17. TheDefense, He was an assistant football coach and the head Baseball Coach for 1 year in Stewart County. Maybe that will help broaden your Google search on him. It was not in his earlier years. Stewart has had some success the last 5-6 years. I do know this.............the kids have played hard.
  18. That would be E. Lee Atkins.........................to the lay person. Those of us in the know, that would be ELA. Former Assistant coach for the SC Rebels, master of the Spread offense. He knows the lay of the land in SC.
  19. Heard from a credible source that the job has been offered to someone. The only thing I know is that it was to be offered to someone with prior High School HC experience. Not sure who that would be or if it was accepted by said individual.
  20. 7 on 7...........in June?.............uuuummmmmm? Am I missing something here?
  21. I would not be opposed to eliminating Spring practice all together under a few circumstances: 1) eliminate it across the board. 2) Give us June with a football and allow "passing Leagues" (7 on 7). 3) Give the 1 extra week in the fall for full pads that EVERY COACH in TN wants. 4) If there is a dead period, put it at the first of June so that we do not lose what we have taught in the weightroom and conditioning leading up to the dead period.
