People are more worried about Gibson County than any other team in the area.... pretty good publicity for the program!

No kidding!   It’s better times in GC football when there is this much discussion.  Not the homecoming game for everyone anymore

This is 2019 and people still bring it up. You fail to realize that we lost our QB at the start of the year and used a WR in his place. No excuses. We just played. So why bring up that you lost LB. we beat GC with a back up QB. So what.

Because you asked why we were giving up more points.  Wasn’t making a excuse. Was giving a reason.  It’s next man up. Gotta have depth. We didn’t have it at that position and it showed

They do have something to brag about I agree but they talking about beating them again and it’s not happening.

I would agree.  Peabody beats them 9 times out of 10 last year.  But not that night.  And the kids deserved every ounce of it.   And your right Peabody will be our for revenge this year and I don’t see this GC team being able to do much to stop them.  That’s why they play the gme though.  Nobody thought Appalachian st would ever have a chance against Michigan either.  Still a lot of football to play until that game.   Let’s hooe it means something for both teams when they meet up!

Did that stop there offense  the rest of the season ?   They have been making comments on here for the last year so yeah it has been going on on various threads

Offense struggled all year long against good competition. That wasn’t anything new.   I seriously doubt a single person said anything near claiming a state championship.

That’s about the way I see It. They are still the state champs from last year because they beat Peabody and held them to 10 points. They fail to remember they gave up 30 plus each game the next 2 weeks.

I’ve yet to see a GC person mention a thing about being state champs or anything near.   Did GC celebrate?  Absolutely.  And deserved to.  Did some go to far for one game? probably so.  And you also probably fail to realize they lost 2 linebackers to injury for the season against Peabody.  Which had a lot to do with that.

  6. GC has a good group coming up.  They have 3 8th graders that are going to be big time playmakers.   Like seeing them play a tough schedule as they have Milan and UC coming up as well.   Would definitely say GC football is going to be tough the next few years. They doominated that game from start to finish.   Don’t see that very often again and level Peabody team.

There wasn’t a 4.3 40 on the team last or this year. Why does the nfl , college football, and high school football in some states use replay if bad calls don’t matter ?    The loss to GC last year doesn’t matter honestly probably was a good thing for Peabody.

Wouldn’t disagree.  They didn’t let anyone really come close after that game. No more playing around.  Replay does matter.  But we don’t have it.  And there was never an angle that proved beyond a shadow of doubt that he scored.

We scored prior to that and it the refs said he was out of bounds. There was also a illegal forward pass gibson county scored off of.  We didn’t get if done and Gibson county got lucky. They played hard and won with a little help.  Ask gibson county where the gold ball is.

Gold ball is in Peabody. And well deserved.  Gotta be favorites again this year.  They beat GC 9 out of 10 times last year.  Still doesn’t change the fact that blaming refs a year later is still a bad look. Putting it all on refs and luck takes away from the players that made plays to have the game where it was in the final few minutes.   Like our rb running down the sidelines for 70 yards and all those 4.3s couldn’t catch him.  Good luck on the year.  I think GC will be in the hunt for the playoffs again this year. Looked pretty solid in the 2 scrimmages so far.

Yeah. I know that. I also know GC is plus 39 on free throw attempts in the first 2 games. If you don’t see something wrong with that discrepancy, maybe you don’t understand the game.

Sounds like excuses getting setup before the game starts....   How about give GC a little bit of credit.  We shot a lot of free throws in the 4th quarter of both games because of other teams fouling.

I’ve seen Summertown play many games and they don’t foul that much. And seriously, free throws are part of the game? No kidding. But in the two games you’ve played, GC has shot 39 more free throws than their opponents. That’s unreal.

And since I’m no fool, it’s you’re. Good luck tomorrow.

A lot of that is because we’ve had leads and other team has had to foul late.  Guess you didn’t see the first half when GC had 3 starters on the bench in foul trouble.  And a 4th starter out with injury.  Blaming the refs is a cop out.   Good game Midway.  Girls played hard.

The technical was a bad call, IMO. I didn't see that. One guy called a jump ball which I thought it was and one of them called a tech. Thought that was a terrible call. I thought GC attacked the basket and som times they called it and some times they didn't. I was very shocked at how much trouble Summertown had handling our pressure.

From what I was told.  The technical came after the jump ball as a summertown player threw and elbow.  I was told it was pretty clear.  So the jump ball was called and technical after.  The possession arrow didn’t change because summertown never inbounded the ball. I wasn’t sure about the technical either but was told it was absolutely right call. And that was not from a GC fan.

You guys can’t read! She’s played sloppy she has 5+ turnovers! Not taking away her talent! I’ve been on the traveling circuit for years! Her stats are great triple double type of player that’s great, but she has also been careless and turnover prone!!!!  I don’t care about clarkrange both teams wouldn’t even be heard of in AAA!!!!!

I’m not sure what you are trying to prove with that statement?  Triple A schools have 4-5 times as many kids to pick from.  Not an even playing field.  But Chloe Moore would start for any team in the state.

Both teams shot the ball poorly. GC was 2 for 16 from the three point line. First game was a defensive war. We will have to play well. It was early in year and Summertown has improved. I have the utmost respect for their program.

Oh me too. I expect it to be a tough one. I just feel GC is the better team.  Could be wrong.  Summertown will not make it easy!

  14. I see that it hasn’t taken long for it to get heated in here!!  A lot of people don’t like the way the brackets are drawn but it really is the only fair way to do it.   Nobody has seen all of these team to rank them.  Obviously Greenfield and Clarkrange are 2 of the favorites and now have to play in the first round.   Just part of it.  That game and the GC/ Summertown games are the matchups to watch in the first round.  I know Loretto has a good team and a very talented freshman as well. I think people are jumping to conclusions saying that the championship is being played in the first round between greenfield and Clarkrange.  2 good teams.  But they can be beat.  Clay co obviously could play with Clarkrange and you see what happens to them.

  15. Great game last night.  Greenfield came out and threw the first punch and GC could never get all the way back. Credit to greenfield. They came out on fire and GC started something like 0-11.  On open shots they normally hit.  Didn’t score the first 6 minutes and were down 14-0.  But they fought back and cut it to 3 points a few times in the 4th quarter. Greenfield just made the plays to finish it off. Free throws at the end pushed the lead out a little more.  On the MVP award.  This is 100% my opinion and I am not taking one thing away from a great player in Tess Darby.   Chloe Moore McNeil is the MVP of that team, this tourney, and imo this state.  The girl is practically unstoppable.  I don’t like giving MVP awards to more than one player.  In this instance.  If you are gonna give it to more than one then there should have been 3 of them get the award because Edie Darby was great in both games at Martin  as well.  This was a great game in a good atmosphere with both teams making plays in the 4th. Hope to see them meet up again
