Yes, I did get the point...and I agree with your amended version. Originally you said that the fault lay completely with the Coalfield team, regardless of the ump's actions or what he said. People are people, and all of us are emotional creatures, but his having a background and training involving interaction with an exited "mob" (law enforcement), and protocol from TSSAA that he should ignore the fans was forgotten...he was as unruly as anyone involved. Maybe his suspension will affect the attitude of some of the officials (not that all are bad, but not all are above having some attitude with fans and coaches), and the suspended season/postseason ban might bring some wrath from administration when coaches fail to control their kids.
FYI
The umpire in question has not been banned or suspended. He umpired this past Friday.
Not a horse in the race. But CF needs to get a handle on things. A pattern has been established in the athletic program and it's not a good one.

Let's all just take a step back and let these two football teams play football tonight.
Let's see if both sides can show some class.
Same as the Greenback week, nobody is giving the Tigers a chance.
The Tigers will be just fine.
Skip says........Rockwood 20

I UNDERSTAND THAT HAD A WONDERFUL TIME LAST YEAR DOWN THERE YALL RUN A GREAT TOURNY AND ARE CLASS ACTS ALL THE WAY AROUND
Thanks so much "baseball100". That means a lot!!!
It is hard sometimes to get bigger schools to consider coming to our place. With us being a Single A program.
We try to dress everything up and make it a great atmosphere. It is a tribute to how hard our players, assistant coaches, and parents work not only that week, but year around.
Got our first field work day scheduled for this Saturday. Time to start getting the yard into shape.
-
IS YOUR TEAM GOING TO PLAY IN IT THIS YEAR COACH
We will not be playing again this year. Mainly because we will probably still be missing 8 players due to Basketball. 7 of which are projected starters next season. But also because we like to run a first class atmosphere, and it is a ton of work for my players, parents, and coaches.
Few more teams have been added:
1-Cookeville
2-Meigs County
3-Oliver Springs
4-Midway
5-Cumberland County
6-Stone Memorial
7-White Couny

I heard Lawson from Tennessee speak this weekend....he is really good. Policastro and the guy at Cumberland are top coaches at their level in Tennessee. Those three will be great!
I'm sure they will all be good speakers.
Although there isn't any HC's from a major D-1 school listed yet.
Last year: HC from UK and Vandy
Year before: HC from Ole Miss
I think the timing of the TBCA clinic hurts them to get speakers.
B/C practice has already started.
I think they would be better to shoot for the 1st or 2nd week in Dec.
-
Does anyone know who will be speaking at the clinic this year? I checked the website but nothing was posted yet.
http://www.tbca.org/TBCAClinicSchedule.htm Scroll all the way to the bottom.
Not a very strong line-up!!!
Actually quite disappointing!!!!
Hopefully they will add more later.
-
Just want to wish the tigers a lot of luck this week.
Hopefully we can get some guys healthy and try and make another run this year!!
Go Tigers!!
Can't wait till gameday.
-
nobdy respects hampton. they never win big game. they play a weak district and weak scedule. they do good aginst the teams like unaka, cloudland, west green, cosby etc.
Unaka would have pounded you guys last year. They had a better athlete at QB than anybody u could put on the field.
Subbright doesn't even belong on the same field as Hampton. Just stick to playing patsies like Oakdale and Jellico, and then get 65 hung on you in the play-offs.
Time for you to go back to bed junior.
-
Gotta go with the Tigers in this one. Looking forward to heading over this week to get a good look at what the Kees got.
Greenback has handled both games they have had, puttin up 35 points each.
So, how is the Alcoa(QB) transfer played so far???
Where is a good restaurant to eat over there in Kee Nation before the game???
-
Rockwood coming off a State Semi-Final Appearance.
Sweetwater with a new coach and a win vs. Tellico Plains under their belt.
Chatter???
Thoughts???
Predictions???
-
I just wish the Rockwood Tigers were headed back to TP this season!!
I hated that drive, also took quite a butt whippen, but the Pork Palace made it worth while!!
Love those fried taters!!!!

I am sorry. I am sure that some of these coaches have good intentions but they just don't get it. The competition is not there. Our summer was wasted with games ending in run rule (in our favor), cancelled games, and never getting together for practice sessions. Maybe not all, but it seemes the coaches are just in it to receive a summer bonus. The coach that posted is doing it right. Allowing these kids to travel and play better competition is going to help his program in the long run. Keeping them together has it's merits but also allowing them to travel is a very intelligent way to do things. He will get the best of both worlds.
I am a high school coach who runs a summer program......I would like to know where to pick up my "summer bonus" check. For the majority of us, it is not about money......it is about the development of our programs. I enjoy the summer mostly to get my incoming players acclamated to the way we do things.....especially the ones who are going to be involved in other sports. This way we are not starting from sq. 1 when we begin practice.
I also am in agreement that all my players should be involved in some capacity with the summer program. They will still have plenty of opportunity to play with a travel team if they so choose.
On another note: I believe there are too many parents/coaches that think you have to "be playing games all the time" to get better. I do think they need to play, but if you are playing all the time, then when do you have time to: get stronger, work on your swing, pitching mechanics, etc. etc.???
The truth is only about 10% of HS baseball players are "polished" and ready to compete on an elite travel team. The rest of the participants are just writing checks to make it possible. Most of the kids would benefit more from: Long toss program, Tee and soft toss work, pitching drills and bullpens, and hitting the weights in the off season, rather than playing 50 games.
Yes, by playing games, you are put in more situations.......but when the season is complete, their ability and skill levels are exactly the same
Just playing games does not make you a better player
Off my soapbox now

All of FC sports off season compensation have been cut. Tigerskip what do you do for a living? Do you work for free in your off time? In any job one is paid for the time they spend, why should teachers and coaches work for free.
That is the first mention that all FC off season compensation was cut........I am a teacher and a coach......and if I chose to run a summer baseball program(even though I would not consider that work)--yes I would be "working" for free during my off time.
I have coaching friends in other states as well, and the only state that I know of where it is the norm is in GA.
Never in FL and not very many in TN........TN depends on what school you are at and what their particular school system does
FL--nobody does......that is why you see a lot of coaches running summer travel teams that they can make some money running
-
Professionals should BE PAID! Why is it that some expect coaches should work for free or less than minimum wage? Do they not have college degrees and a professional certificate? Pay them for all of their services.
Yes, they do have college degrees and professional certificates........in Education and Teaching!!
They do get paid for their services, during the school year.
You think a Basketball Coach gets paid for spring practice???? Or when they go to camp in the summer????
You think the "FBCoach" gets paid when doing off-season workouts????
No, these men do it because they want to get their program to get better
No different than Summer Baseball
