  1. Patriots are not gonna lose this one at home. The fellas are relaxed and ready to go. Richland will be traveling into a hostile environment away from their cozy little home where they have been playing at for about the last 10 games. Can you handle the noise???? Patriots win by 12 and advance to the State Tourny! The White House community is jacked, even our Blue Devil neighbors. Go Patriots!

Cleggy.....Richland will bring a lot of noise of their own. Their student section is incredible! I don't think there's a favorite in this one. Haven't seen WHH play...just looked at their schedule and. I've saw Richland play and they play very fundamental basketball. They screen well and make the right reads on their cuts....WHH better play fundamental defense or Richland will get lots of uncontested 3s. However, they don't have a strong presence inside and that could hurt them tonight. Pulling for the Raiders in this one. Richland by 1 (in OT of course!) :o

  2. MTCS will have two players as good as any PC will have. How does PC compare with McEwen?

Sorry...not a chance. You may have saw PC play, but don't make that assumption on one or two games. When the chips are down in a play or go home scenario, PC's studs will bring it just like they did against Mt pleasant in the region semis. Tucker and Rhodes are their known stars, but I guarantee that Garrett Hill will do all the little things that doesn't show up in the stat lines. To me, he's their MVP. He plays harder than anyone on the court, gets the ball to the right person at the right time, takes care of the ball, is a great on the ball defender and super quick, and plays incredible help defense. PC 67, MTCS 48

  3. While we all know scoring isn't everything, scoring is usually everything when selecting all tourney bc when u don't get to see any quarterfinal games except for your own (thanks TSSAA...would love to have 4 girls games at region site on Friday night and 4 boys games at region site on Sat nite), the coaches are gonna look at a box score to try and "guess" who may have played well...semis get a better view except when the quarterfinal coaches who were eliminated don't attend (which happens) and then they're still going off a box score...and the ballots have to be turned in by halftime of finals, so even if someone had a great second half, it would more than likely go unnoticed. So, what exactly did A Rice do in two region tourney games? 17 and 18 pts for a total of 35 and I don't have stats in front of me, but a slew of rebounds and assists and great defense. What did Dill do? 3, 10, 4 for 17 pts in 3 games. Hill...4, 6, 6 for 16 pts in 3 games...not exactly earth shattering if you r making your selections based on box scores. Now, having seen PC once during season and twice in District and twice in Region, I can tell you that Hill is the glue that holds it all together and he is a very valuable asset. If he was injured or got in foul trouble, PC would be in trouble. While feelings get hurt over all tourney selections, it's the parents and fans who make a bigger deal about it than the the players so let it go. Hopefully Dill and Hill will use it as motivation and fuel that Viking ship to the state tourney. No one remembers who gets all tourney. Ppl remember the great TEAMS and how far they advance (or don't advance). And to answer your post, no one got excited when Rice didn't get all district this yr. We were just all thankful he decided to play bball this year. He's a great kid...can't wait to watch him in a few wks on the mound...his true "best sport.". Good luck Trojans and Vikings in substate...represent D12/R6!!

:thumb: Great post! Unbeliveable that a couple of PC posters are blaming WC for who made the Region team....what a joke.....but thats what you expect from them. Anyway, agreeing with ptguard, I've said this all year that Garrett Hill is who makes PC go. This kid does so much on the court....he's a great decision maker, plays with incredible tenacity for a small guy, is an amazing help-side defender, and just wreaks havoc on so many fronts. Tucker and Rhodes may get the praise, but without Hill this team would be fighting for 3rd or 4th in the district.

  4. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING of what WC and SF fans said, He was ejected from the game which is an automatic 2 game suspension. Also from what i have herd from both sides is that there was some flop work involved in the ordeal. I have herd from one WC player that they though Sawyer legitimately laid the kid out with an elbow when it happened, but when seeing it on film realized that it wasnt at all what it looked like. Either way he will be setting his next two high school basketball games. but i dont think it will hurt WC too bad.. They have older kids who have played minutes all year long. And they will not be expected to score. Ray is just a get the ball up the floor and find somebody to get the ball to type pg.. plus C-wood doesnt do a lot of full court pressure d-fense other than the young G who has just started playing since the Butler injury. I think WC will be fine as long as they hit free throws and Mathis doesnt have a bad night shooting. But it SHOULD be a very intense at times sloppy game. Both teams will be fighting hard for this one

I never saw the ref eject Sawyer and he did stay on the bench. When a player's ejected I thought they automatically had to leave the floor. Anyway ended up being same penalty.....I think Sawyer not playing will hurt a little more than most think....they're low on ball-handlers as it is and this will force Peyton to handle the ball a little more than usual. Plus Sawyer is one of only about 2 that I feel confident in handling the ball in pressure situations. No cwood doesn't pressure a lot but they may ramp that up a little tonite b/c of the situation. And gosh I hope we shoot free throws better than Sat. night!

  5. Is it a two game suspension in Basketball?

Yes it is. If we were to lose tonight, he'd be suspended the 1st game of his junior season.

And to answer wildcatalumni, it was more than just a regular technical foul. A flagrant technical has to be reviewed by TSSAA and carries possibility of suspension and in this case it did just that.

  6. WC has a big hurdle to get over tonight. Cwood is playing well right now but in addition, WC will be without starting point guard Sawyer Ray. He's suspended for tonight, and if they win he's suspended for the next game also due to flagrant technical foul Sat. night. Somebody's gonna have to step up big if they are to pull out the W tonight.

  7. What an interesting development in the region....we have 2 teams (one girls, one boys) that everyone expects to be in the semi-finals that will be watching from bleachers...is this because of everyone else getting better or them not reaching potential or living up to expectations

If you're talking about WC girls and I assume you are, no one in WC besides maybe a few of the parents expected them to be in the semis. They were just really bad this year, and several of the players couldn't wait for the season to be over....sad but true. And earlier in the year I expected Stown guys to at least make it to the semis, but after watching them the last few games I would say it's definitely not a surprise that they're done.

  8. Wayne Co.- 65

    Santa Fe - 60

    Triple OT

A win is a win, but it don't get much uglier than that for WC. Tonite was definitely a trap game for the cats b/c of such an emotional win against PC in the dist finals and plus we're just not the kind of team that can show up and win no matter who we're playin, but it seemed we sure thought that tonight. I don't doubt 18-46 from the free throw line was the correct stat that you mentioned cat1973. I guarantee Shaq would shoot better than that from the free throw line. Hope they get this out of their system and bring it again Tues night.

  9. Mt P is very undisciplined, if they dont rebound, they are very average. The way Tucker has his hops and Gilboy takes up space, I cant see them beating PC on the boards, not to mention they dont have the speed to run with you, or shooters that can hit the J---all they have IMO is Harlan.

I agree with Mtp being undisciplined, but I definitely don't agree with the speed. Mtp's guards are very quick and Frierson will be the quickest player on the floor. And no they're not very good shooters, but if they get in the flow, they can knock it down like Frierson did against WC over the Cmas break. I think Mtp's size down low will give PC lots of problems. All said though, I do see PC getting the W b/c their players know their roles and play them well. If PC throws a hard punch early, Mtp will lay down.

  10. I noticed you didn't address the clock issue. Either way you pulled out the win Congrats. But if Jtown honestly thinks that Mathis wasn't a 20 point difference you should get him some help.

...and you didn't address the insanity of WC not getting to the foul line all night. Honestly, I can't speak to the clock issue with much clarity cause I wasn't watching the clock.....I was watching the play and I don't know who in the gym would have had their eyes on the clock during the play. I know there was 4.??? sec left when the ball was taken out and 2.7 sec after the play? In my opinion, I would agree that it seemed more time than that should have ran off, however, I don't think it could have been more than 3-3.5 seconds which would have left us at least 1 sec on the clock. And when Peyton caught the ball, he shot within less than a second so it wouldn't have mattered....I definitely thought he could have got a way better shot off with 2.7 on the clock.....turns out it couldn't have been any better than that. If WC keeps playin well, then I suspect we'll see y'all again in about a week on the same floor.

  11. Well, if there was a tourney MVP, I'm pretty sure we all know who that would be...23 pts in the semis vs Stown and 24 (6 threes) in the finals....all while also guarding the opposing team's main scoring threat (held MVP Chard to 6 and MVP Rhodes to 10)...this kid is so athletic...Mr Peyton Mathis! And when he hit that buzzer beater last night, did anyone else have flashbacks of the Rice to Mathis 60+ yard pass play against Huntingdon and ensuing "leave you in your tracks" move he made to score the winning TD?? And he's getting a golf scholarship! Congrats Peyton on an outstanding athletic career at WCHS...we just hope you've got a few more tricks up your sleeve!!

That's exactly the first thing I thought about.....this kid is such a clutch player and such a competitor! If I had to pick one though, I'd have to say that the catch at Huntingdon would be the winner. this kid is one of the best all around athletes in WC history.....he could pick any sport and excel in it.

  12. I'd like to see video replay of the double dribble they called on Garrett Hill after he stole the ball, or the walk they called on Matt Gilboy when no one had possession of the ball, or how they decided not to start they clock about 3 seconds late on the play when they called that walk. All of that in the last 15 seconds of the game.......

You don't even want to get into a crapshoot about the refs tonight...WC doesn't even shoot a free throw....what a joke. You're right about one thing...it wasn't a double dribble on Hill at the end.....it was clearly a walk. He caught the ball on the steal and took 2 steps before he put the ball on the floor. And are you kiddin me??? Gilboy has the ball wrapped in a bear hug and rolls over with the ball....definitely a walk.

WAYNE COUNTY WILDCATS 2012 D12A TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!!

  13. Turnovers killed Stown

At the end of the game turnovers hurt them (and offensive rebounds) but the reason WC won that game was b/c of their defense. They bottled up Chard (6 pts.) and held Allen in check (think he had 14). If Gray hadn't hit some crap shots, WC would've won by double figures, but give him credit he made some plays and led them in scoring.

  14. While PC is feasting on padding its record more which I'm sure all the voters will notice the margin of victory,Lake Co gets to play Middleton who has played a tougher schedule than Pc by playing Southside,Humboldt,Riverside.Didnt Perry Co play Riverside .Won by about 20 and 3.Middleton beat Riverside by about 40.

All the Huntingdon and South Pitt fans (and others) said this crap about WC's schedule in football this year. "We aint played nobody and when we play the almighty Huntingdon and South Pitt we would get destroyed". And I think you know what happened after that....throw the talk about the schedules out the window. All that matters is when you lace em up head to head.

  15. It's going to be a tough Tourney in the District and even when Region comes around the top teams in 11A: Mt. Pleasant (18-2), Santa Fe (14-9), Culleoka (13-10), Richland (12-10) All are very good teams...but...Perry Co. (20-3), Collinwood (15-9), Summertown (14-9), and Loretto (9-12) are (in my mind) going to be representing 12A...i just don't think Mt.P is disciplined enough to guard PC's guards and i don't think they want to guard but i still think it'll be a good game...bout time the Region is somewhere else instead of being at Mt. Pleasant

Wayne County will definitely be representing D12 in the Region....book it!

  16. I think Stown has a lock on second even if they lose. It will go to tie breakers that start at head 2 head which they will split if Cwood wins, then it will go to play vs high seed where Stown will have a win and Cwood won't.

WC still has a very good chance at 3rd. All they need to do is win at home Friday against Loretto (which they came close to doing at Loretto w/o Peyton Mathis, and Cwood needs to lose at Stown which is very likely to happen. WC/Cwood split during the year, but Wboro beat the higher seed Stown and Cwood wouldn't have done so if they lose Friday.

  17. Well best of Luck on that, maybe Coach Haston will leave the starters in put up 100 on yall like they did in 97'.

Ha that wouldn't happen with this WC team w/o somebody gettin a leg broke. Too many competitive kids. Actually we're not giving the rings out tonight....just wanted to get a rise out of you and mr hinson.
