  1. Region 4 Tournament was tonight with Columbia and Tullahoma of District 8 and Riverdale and Siegel of District 7. siegel easily won over Tullahoma 3-0 in the early match and it was Riverdale winning in a very close match 3-1 over Columbia. Columbia came to Regionals very well prepared with a new coach and gave Riverdale a vedfy good match. Coach Thais Yancy brought the International flavor to the Tournament as the Brazilian born coach raised the level of play at Columbia quite a bit over last year. In addition she brought Maya Hunter an outside who played very good and led Columbia in kills.

The finals between siegel and Riverdale was another one of those legendary matches. Riverdale won the first game easily and after that the next three were Seigels and the Tournament. Siegel stays at home and will play Ooltewah Thursday and Riverdale will go to Soddy and play there.

These Regionals were very good and the crowd was very good and loud.

I would like to have been seen this play out in person! Columbia & Tullahoma keep up the hard work, I strongly feel that Columbia will break though the Region ceiling one of these near future seasons! Columbia has been a strong team for the past couple of years & with Coach Yancy having takin over Coach Kyles hard work at preparing the girls in the past. Coach Yancy's knowledge & love for the sport I strongly feel that they will prevail. My comments in this post here is from the information that I am obtaining from everyone's posts here (which I greatly appreciate)as I have not been able to see in person any of District 7 & 8's games in a few years due to being deployed so far away from home! I would still like to know what happened with Lincoln Co, dropping out of the top 2 in their district. I do know that they did not have any seniors this past year, hopefully they will have a come back! Tullahoma is was great to see that you placed in Districts & were able to experience Regionals this year! All of the girls that play any sport or extracurricular activity are winners no matter where they place in their own district, just taking on either, on top of their class work, family, religon & social lives, MAKES YOU A WINNER!!!

  2. Yes Coach Thais Yancey is very knowledgable of the game and she did receive the Coach of the Year award !

That is great to hear, well deserved! She is doing a fanstatic job, hope they make it to STATE, I will be routing for both the District 8AAA teams as they continue their journey this season! Wish I could be there to route them on instead of stuck in this desolate place!

  3. Columbia Central won the district 8 AAA tournament. Tullahoma placed 2nd in the tournament.

Congratulations to all teams! Columbia has been a strong team for a few years now & their coach is very knowledgable in the game of volleyball, I also hope that he received the "Coach of the Year" award! Tullahoma has also been working hard to move up in ranks. Great job for both teams, GOOD LUCK in Regionals! Guess LCH not having any power hitters or seniors on their squad may have contributed to their drop in rankings! Maybe next year they will be back as a contender.

Girls have fun at Regionals & remember to keep your head held high no matter the out come at Regionals! All the girls are winners just for their willingness to play sports, keep up their acedemics, social & family life!

    Story

Wow, Lincoln Co., is 3rd this yr, they are usually 1st or 2nd. what has happened down there?

  5. This is District 5AAA but for those posting District

Schedules, which have been agreed upon by the District, could also not only post the matchups but also post the Date and time, it would be of help. It would also been informative to all of the fans in each area if you could notify the fine Newspapers there and give them the same information. I am sure MaidMary would appreciate the information also.

Yes, I would greatly appreciate any information as I am far away from all the excitement & unable to attend any of this season's games! Thank you, coach Johnson for the 5AAA info!

I have traveled to Italy and Spain the past 2 years to play for America's Team to represent the USA. Played for 13+ years and still going. I have a full-ride to Alabama Southern Community College to play for the Eagles, I am hoping to get on a team before I leave to keep in shape, and to keep getting looked at. My dream is to play in the NCAA and atleast the SEC. I have the heart and desire no coach has seen in any athlete.

  7. Suggestion for the future of large tournament venues, have the teams do the line judging, score keeping/board & libero tracking instead of fans from teams playing (coaches/experienced captains down ref, rest of the team handle the line judging, score keeping/board & libero tracking when they aren't scheduled to play).

Heard alot of people complaining about not being able to watch their DD's or DGD's play since they had to work plus pay to get in.

  8. That was a strong division with a lot of good players, including some who've already finished a season in college. I did not get to see those Eagles play, do you know their roster, positions and high schools/colleges?

Indian, thank you again for the update! Wish I could have been there. As for the Lady Eagles (18U) I do know that there is another post for them here, for upcoming try outs.

  9. Monday's games were rained out and the tournament was pushed forward 1 day, although many teams, including Goodpasture, did not stay to play on Thursday.

    Goodpasture lost to Huntsville 0-1

    defeated Hewitt-Trussville 1-0

    defeated West Morgan 2-1

    defeated Curry 8-0

    lost to Oak Mountain 0-3

    defeated Vestavia 3-1

    Thanks for the info!

I've heard Goodpasture has a strong team this year & it looks as though they were showing it! Good Luck girls!

  10. For those that were able to attend the 2009 Nike Gulf Coast Classic. How did it go? Did any of the days get rained out? Does anyone know who won & how the rest faired? Would like any information anyone can give? Was unable to attend this year due to work.

Thanks in advance for the info!
