  1. Cheatham started spring FOOTBALL practice today so that the 4 or 5 players that play both can participate. Is anyone else doing this?

Also what do think about baseball players suiting up in pads during baseball season, seems risky to me. :hungry:

Baseball players should not be required to participate in spring practice, that is to risky.

  2. our pitiful catcher managed to throw out a couple of guys on the basepaths

Speaking of unfair! I never called the kid "pitiful". I was stating the obvious about to many dropped/passed ball 3rd strikes. Never once talked about this batting skills or how hard he works. Blow something out of proportion would why don't you!

Learn the difference between a passed ball and a wild pitch and we'll talk.

I don't think he would drop a third stike, he might miss one if its thrown in the dirt.

  3. The boys seem to be more of "team" yesterday. I love that. Supposedly still too much rust to see the true ability from a performance point of view. The Sunday thing still bothers me but not as bad as you guys are putting on. I know they need to play to improve and play early. I like whats going on so far. I just think the new coach should stick to his word. If he said Sundays off then he should stick to it.

FYI-I do get out of my butt up their and the field does look great. But, again, is it as important as learning the game?

Get over the Sunday thing, be glad this coach and his assistant coaches are willing to put their family time aside to make Harpeth a better program. You have to have the field in shape to be able to use it and the boys should be a big part of getting it ready. If the coach had not had the boys work on it after practices and the help of some dedicated parents and coaches you would have had to travel to Springfield for the scrimmage. Kudos to the coaches for having the scrimmage!!!!!!!!!

  4. This new coach at Harpeth seems to be serious and know the game. However, whats up with a Sunday scrimmage in week 1 of practice. From what i understand, they haven't even been on the field this week. How are they going to be prepared for a game? From a distance the new bleachers look nice and rumor is the field is in much better condition. But, have they spent too much time on the field and not enough time practicing on "the field". Sorry to be critical, but this seems to be pushing it. I like the new guy and I think he is going to help HHS. It just might be too much of an expectation for the team to play on a Sunday after very little practice.

I think it's a good idea to have a scrimmage this early for the simple fact you see where your team stands & you see where your teams weak & strong points are

I agree, scrimmage early and often. So, how did the scrimmage go?

  5. Looks like they need more than just a baseball coach!

Multiple - Harpeth High School has the following coaching positions open for 2009-2010: Head Girl's Basketball, Head Baseball, Head Volleyball, Assistant Football, and Assistant Boy's Basketball

That list is from TSSAA site

  6. Yeah. I've heard some stuff, but I haven't seen anything official. The rumor is that there were 3 co MVP's this year.

I think Harpeth had Lathan Turner, Devin Presley and Jess Morris, but that's not official.

    After 4

    Bolivar Central 4

    Sycamore 0

Are you serious on the three from harpeth, their are others more worthy.

  7. CW cheatham score was actually 11-1 after 5. MC was beatin Stewart co. 11-2 afer 4 when i left. heard harpeth didnt even pitch foriest??? thought ahead im guessing and was trying to save him.

Not sure if they were looking ahead but I heard the kid they pitched had been pitching better than Foriest.

  8. It wouldn't pay enough dude. If I'm doing it for the notoriety, I'd rather be on the TSSAA Board of Control! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> In my line of work, I'd get fired (or sued) if I didn't think ahead a little towards the worst case scenario. It's a habit. A little bit of planning goes a long way. I mean, were we really prepared to put off post season baseball for prom? If you don't say anything, everybody thinks it must be just fine. I think there are some dedicated coaches doing everything they can to promote their sport and put the best foot forward for this district. I imagine the same applies at TSSAA, but you wouldn't know by the way they go about their business sometimes. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I just got the word. Single elimination tournament starting Tuesday (maybe).

well said, just a little extra planning

  9. oh wow you can do that??? well you must have miss heard somethin because none of the coaches said anything except for our players to shut up.

Like I said I don't have a dog in the hunt, I have no affiliation with either team I just like to watch good baseball, but your firstbase coach talks to more than just his players.
