  1. The Clinton game was a tale of two halves. When Clinton decided to start Patrick at QB, Powell had a really tough time figuring out how to defend him out of the shotgun (there was zero film on him at QB). In the second half, Powell adjusted and the Dragons didn't score again. The Powell offense looked pretty good from start to finish in that game, so I'm not worried about that performance.

The Central game is my biggest concern. Blanc was healthy, and he looked great against the Powell defense (losing DE Austin Benson on the first play didn't help), but the offense seemed to struggle, for whatever reason. I'm sure the week off helped get the team refocused and healthier, I just hope that the distraction with Dy'shawn Mobley doesn't negatively effect them.

Powell has a hard time throwing the football and if you load the box and make them throw the ball to beat you they will struggle...they want to run the ball on the perimeter and when you do not allow them to do that they struggle...the QB is the key and everyone else are just role players!

On the Mobley front...Powell people need to quit hiding the so called information that is so different from what has been said on this board!

  2. Well there may be some inaccuracies but the facts are that he has stole something and there has been speculation that this is not the first time! The merchandise was over $200 and he is suspended for 1 game! There are also other rumors about what some of his team thinks but I don't want the thread to get deleted...the story is out and I know the facts so who needs ScoreatWill...aka...Mr. Info...to tell us!

  3. FWIW, catcall, I wasn't the one who flagged your previous threads regarding this story, but there is a reason why they were deleted. Dy'shawn obviously did something wrong, but the school has stated that they won't publicly say what happened because they don't have to (and because he is a minor). I just hope he gets the appropriate punishment, if what I'm hearing is true.

I understand the school not saying anything, but this is a public message board and it should be allowed to be talked about and if he did what I have heard he did he should be gone...in my opinion!

  4. That's what is going around Powell: Mobley did something pretty serious but they are hoping that they can get him back in the playoffs before things get really tough (Anderson County and West). Some of the kids that play there have said "what happened" but all of them have a different story. They aren't the same team without him, but if what he did was serious then he needs to face the consquences.

I have posted the story 2 times and it has been deleted and the Rumor is that he is out of school but Knoxnews.com says 1 week suspension but another site says indefinitly! Who Knows? I dont know who is trying to hide this story, but it is rediculious

  5. Not sure what state rankings you are looking at. Powell is still #2 in the 5A AP poll.

You are most likely looking at a computer "power" ranking that takes in to account the strength of schedule and strength of schedule of opponents played to date. Powell just got through playing an 0-8 team, so the strength of schedule was going to drop. It will likely drop again this week after playing a 2-6 Central team.

Powell is most likely going to be a #1 seed in Pod 1. That's really the only ranking that matters at this point. Beginning at 7 PM Nov. 5 there will be 32 teams that will all be dead even.

I did not call him a "Trouble Maker" just said that some Powell people have been saying he got in trouble at school and was not suspended because Coach Lowe came to the Rescue and sat him out of the CC game! Well anyway good luck to Powell and hope he does play tonight and we will see what happens!

  6. I agree. Although, they've played quite a bit in the last few weeks without Darian and Dy'shawn. Darian hasn't played since the HVA game and Dy'shawn missed both the CC and Karns games, half of the Clinton game, and half of the AC game. Montario Washington has filled in quite nicely, but Dustin McPhetridge also deserves a ton of credit. He has really looked impressive while Darian and Dy'shawn have been out.

Agreed...Dustin has really carried the load and seems to like the pressure of having to a lot things for his team...wish him the best and GO CATS!

  7. Logan and Mobley were both nursing injuries last week. I hadn't heard anything about Mobley being "in trouble" though. If both sit out again tomorrow night, I'm sure we'll see a healthy dose of Montario Washington, Dustin McPhetridge, and Nick Webb instead.

Im sure but Powell is not the same without those 2 for sure!

  8. Honestly, I don't know and I haven't asked. I do know that both are much healthier than they were a week ago.

I heard Logan was out until Playoffs and Mobley was in trouble last week and had to sit out of the CC game!

What kind of game do you think this will be and how bad is it for the Cats!

  9. Does Knoxville Central have chance to make Playoffs at 5-5 or 4-6 with their only loss for the remainder of the year coming to Powell if they lose to Powell?

Teams are listed by playoff criteria. The top 24 teams in 1A and 2A and top 32 teams in 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A on this list will be in the playoffs unless a school is not listed in the top 24 (1A,2A) or top 32 (3A,4A,5A,6A) finishes 1st or 2nd in their district. If this happens, a team or teams finishing 1st or 2nd in the district will replace the lowest ranked schools(s) on the list. 10. Completely agree, you really need 3 RBs who are quick. The quickness is key... now if they're fast that's even better once they get to the second level of the defense. The past several years Webb has had 2 and sometimes 3 RBs who were quick and fast so it's really been to their advantage. With only one RB that is quick you'll not be effective running the wing-t. Right now, defenses have a real tough time deciding how to defend Webb's offense since they have 3 RBs who can take it the distance.

Also, o-line personnel is a big factor for Webb's success. As you know Webb's o-line is not traditionally huge by any means. This year is a little different in that they have 2 book-end tackles that are both around 6'5" and 290. Their center is around 225 and their guards under 200. They key here is that the guards and center are very athletic and quick and are able to pull easily as well as use their quickness to establish proper technique and angles to gain the advantage of much larger d-lines.

Webb has always had some special back or backs in the years they have won games and championships just as they do now and that is facts...if they did not have the Blance Boys how good would their Wing-T be? Average...not taking sides here just stating Good players help you be able to run any offense...Look at Powell Spread compared to OR spread attack...players...that is the big key to any team is to have players!

  11. I hope will do a better job on blanc than we did on the eskridge kid from hardin valley.

If Central continues to play solid defense and the offense gets in the endzone they could win this one and have a chance late in the year to finish strong...they have not packed it in and they had some huge injuries and a couple kids get in trouble right before the season that has hurt them and completly changed the offense right before the jamboree and they have been slow going in that regard...we will see Friday and they have had more adversity this week with some off the field things but challenge them to stay focused!

  12. I sure do hope that the crowd that traveled with Oak Ridge also goes to Central tonight. I will say I was really impressed by the attendance of Oak Ridge fans last week! Everyone be safe and ROLL, WILDCATS, ROLL!

Bring a big crowd cause we need the gate money from the attendance and I think it will be a good game!

  13. Team speed will give OR trouble. We will have to execute much better than we did at Farragut to overcome Central's speed and athleticism.

Central fans, congratulations on your big victory over Mo. W, How did the Bobcats pull the upset? I haven't read about it or seen the highlights.

We played hard and fast and took advantage of MoWest mistakes and our offense scored when we made a stop on defense!

  14. OR wins this one with ease. Chalk this one up. Central will likely not even score. Central's days are over. They may be a little improved, but no match for us.

Central had a big win Friday and probably the biggest win for Central in the last 3 years and you act you all are gonna role over us...Im not saying we will win but we are going to play hard and give all we have!

  15. I was very excited when I first heard that Powell was leading in the 2nd half. (No help from my buddies who didn't have their cell phones with them). Finally found someone who could text and send me the score. Super excited for all the boys, but especially for a handfull of them that I know how special it is for them each and every time they beat Fulton! Didn't see the game, but it sounded like the Panthers really took the fight to the Falcons. I thought it would be difficult for Powell to win this game, glad I was wrong. Of course this is just one win, but its the kind of win that could propell the Panthers towards a very special season. Once again, congratulations to the boys and to the entire Panther Nation. :thumb:

  16. Final varsity score was 3-1 and the special teams were even with DB blocking 2 punts and Central blocking 1 and recovering a muffed punt...DB was held in check in their run game for most of the varsity scrimmage but threw the ball really well...could be a good year for both squads and there was some really good hitting in the scrimmage...I would say that Sensabaugh and Saah(chs MLB) are sore today...they smacked each other all night! Good film for both teams and Central needs to work on passing...and DB had several fumbles!

  17. CatCall, you're like a child......sheesh. You are also once again wrong. West finished second to Maryville in the region in 2006 and 2007. Well they may have finished 3rd in 06, but I know for a fact they were second in 07. So, therefore, they would have one the region in 07 without Maryville (and maybe 06 too). I also really don't care about the past anyway so you can just keep babbling. There's no recruiting in High School Football (atleast there isn't suppose to be).And ONCE AGAIN, West went to the playoffs that year and Central didn't. Remember when Tennessee swept Florida in basketball when they won the national championship? Gee I wonder if Florida really cares that Tennessee beat them!!! I know I sure wouldn't if I played for florida!

Ok Well past is the past and neither team made the playoffs last year.

And by the way Florida did care and that is why Joakim Noah came back to beat Tennessee!

    Well you are right...West sux!

  18. I like this guy! :thumb:

Well Im tired of talkin to the "BEST", The last time Central played West in season Central won...period!

West has only won more than 10 games 1 time in school history!

That is all I am going to say...look at records and compare head to head...West never won this region before and you would not now.

You all would not beat OR,AC,Powell,or Central and maybe not Halls!

    Get a clue!

  19. I'm a huge west supporter and even i know west isn't the best team but they aren't the worst neither. West is a well respected team that in the playoffs no team could look forward to playing. Anybody that knows high school football schould know that. To correct a prior mistake west in fact was 4-6 last year, but poor calls by referees decided the difference in the fulton and farrigut game. And if west played catholic on a better field last year west wins that game 24-21. West is a competitive team each season, they just also happen to be playing in the toughest region in the state of tennessee. If west was in the same region as central they'd most likely win the region, that can even be argued. I understand that history makes a program, but it shouldnt be brought up in discussions of the now, and in the now west is a better program both athletically and academically than central, thats just the simple facts of the matter and for anyone to say otherwise is absolutly garish, and a bold face lie as well. :thumb:

Ok Ill say it if West played Central in a 4 qtr game this year they would lose, period. You all need to get real. Like I have said before Central is the best team in the past and now...if we had played anymore that game in the spring the West QB would not have finished the game.
