  1. Alcoa will hire former William Blount boys coach.... he's on staff at Alcoa.

Every penny available is directed to football.... I think coach finally gave up.Team had raised $ for Florida Christmas Tournament.... Now they're going 5 miles to Maryville tournament.... Sad !

  2. A special thanks to all those associated with Christian Academy of Knoxville. CAK players, coaches, and fans have shown numerous times during Hannah's ordeal their Christian Spirit and Love. Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated by Hannah and the entire Alcoa community!

  3. This self ordained expert sez “it just ain’t  rightâ€. If High School Sports teaches

life lessons, whats this situation teaching? 1. We’re not good enough.  2. Really good

players don’t have to follow the rules.  3. If its legal it’s OK.  4. The 1st 30 games don’t matter.

    5. Winning will make-up for any hurt  feelings . 6. Hey, I’m a good player I think next year I’ll

quit the team and rejoin in time for the Region tournament ! and so on, and so on

  4. All are playing teams below them in classification....Oneida is 1A....

Maybe thats why each have great expectations every year....

and seem to implode at tournament time?

Haven't seen the rest of their early schedules...hopefully

    they have tougher games.....

Would really love for them to take down their Knox counterparts

    this year.

  5. They're private schools in the sense that you have to pay to go there. Most parents send their children to private schools for the quality of education, and in CAK's case, for a Christian education. I'm sure there are some who choose a private school for sports, but there's nothing wrong with that since they're paying tuition.

They're considered private because each student must fill out an application and be accepted.

Also...since they win almost all district titles and finish at the top in state in alot of sports....I think it could be said that alot are choosing CAK for sports.

  6. Having only seen 3 of these the cyrstal ball may may a little fuzzy.

    • Westview over Elizabethton- Etown is good but the loss of point guard earlier in year really hurt. plus they haven't played an away game since January.
    • LA over CPA- LA, no superstars but all know the game and are well coached. Maybe the closest opening game.
    • Macon Co over Covington- Only because there's a movie or song macon County Line.
    • CAK over Cannon- CAK plays a tough zone putting 6'6 post in middle they won their last 3 games from teams that were not patient enough to get open looks and mistakenly thought they should challenge the interior. I'll change my pick if Cannon presses whole game. CAK has no bench.

Will pick semi after 1st round ( I usually miss half my picks) !

    2 right 2 wrong.....(AAA is alot easier)

    In semi I'll take

    CPA and Macon

Past results indicate I'll get 1 right !

Kinda hope Etown & CAK can win one for East TN.

Heading to Murf tomorrow......can't wait !

  7. Are you serious or joking about CAK playing zone defense? I hope you're serious. Cannon will press as long as it is effective. Also Cannon has a good bench.

Have seen them play 7 games this year 2-3 and 1-3-1 and some 3-2 a little man when they were down. played some box and 1 on Alcoa shooter.

They drop off the cliff when going to bench....so I guess the zone protects players from fatigue and fouls. But don't underestimate.....they are good (would have been a favorite if not for a season ending injury) sadly it seems alot of teams can make that claim.

  8. Westview vs Elizabethton

    CPA vs LA

    Macon County vs Covington

    Cannon County vs CAK

    Thoughts?

  9. The Winterfest Shootout is in Sevierville, TN. This tournament is hosted by Sevier County High School. This will be the 3rd year for the tournament and is usually for 3 days leading up to Christmas. Contact Coach Ken Wright or Coach Stacy Marine if interested. The number is 865-453-5525. Ask for the basketball coaches office. We have great competition and Sevier County has a lot to offer. Check out the website at www.winterfestshootout.com.

We played in this tournament this year. Well run, great gym. Really fun area during the holidays!

  10. I think Farragut will advance

Anderson Co gets other spot ?

Heritage could upset if they play up to expectations....sure they have 19 wins but they have only beaten 2 AAA teams with winning records (Seymour & Maryville) with 16-14 records.

have not seen Powell but they better be ready for a scrappy William Blount.

Bearden should get by Oak ridge and setup a good game with AC.

  11. 2nd round

After overlooking Stone in 1st round I'm taking a closer look.

They ended season strong with win v GPS and close game with Clarkrange.

1st round they beat Kingston on their home floor.......

Stone rolls on.... over #1 seed Alcoa. (its hard to beat a team 3 times in a year)

CAK has beaten Loudon twice in the last week (its hard to beat a team 3 times in a year)

but CAK has alot more talent. CAK in a cake walk.
